This is the debugQA extension only distributed with the Beta. It will

remove it in the Add-ons manager.

How do you exit SeaMonkey?

Using the Close "x" in the window may leave a process running.

I always use File > Quit from the Menu.

Maybe you can use a shortcut calling:C:\WINDOWS\system32\shutdown.exe -s

The 04 standing for a seconds wait before forcing a stop?
shutdown, exe might be a a diffent location for you.
Try he command in a CMD box first.

Linux, 2.53.3, no add-ons: JavaScript loop, after a while it asks me

I'll be updating my Seamonkey in a few minutes so we'll see what the
newer level does.

2.53.5.1, identical behaviour.  Stopping the Script works.

Same thing that I have witnessed, on Linux I get the JavaScript about

the desktop.

I the former behavior I would expect to handle bad JavaScript, the
latter I would raise as an issue to be addressed.

Works for me on Windows 10 with 2.53.5.1 as others on Linux have
reported here.  Initially it hangs, then a "Slow Script" dialog pops up
allowing me to stop the script and continue.

Hmmm I wonder if it is a 64-bit 32-bit thing. I am still using 32-bit
never bothered switching and legacy since Netscape Communicator. On my
Ubuntu system I am using 64-bit and manages to should the "Slow Script"
dialog, whereas the 32-bit Windows install crashes before it appears.

On my Dual Booting 64 bit HP laptop, when I boot my 64 bit Linux and
click the above link and just let it load, I eventually get the
"Unresponsive Script" warning. Clicking the "Stop" button lets me
continue scrolling.

On my 32 bit, Win7 WOW64 OS and I click the above link, and eventually
get the warning, and again clicking the "Stop" button lets me continue

So I don't see any difference!!

Personally I think compression level has reached a peak. Everything you
do now compromises quality in some way.

Still using good old zip too. Compression is not that good but very
convenient to have something which works on almost every system out of
the box. Same with gif, png and jpeg. If something comes around which
does this we can talk again. webp and almost anything developed by
google isn't it. Unfortunately needs to be supported to an extent too.

FRG (backwards yokel)
Still sometimes using .zip but from some years i prefer .7z files: in
the past have problems with .zip (loss of empty folders: zip does not
add it if empty and some software look at folder presence and not at
what is inside). This occur with some zip tools but not others; since i
can not now the used tool for the received files it is risky for my usage.
7zip well configured gives smaller file (better compression) with no
loss AND it add to top folder (zip does not by default) and this is what
i want.

   .attachmentList {
     max-height: 24ch;
     overflow-y: scroll;
   }

The StyleM extension is an easy way to apply this.

I do not know how to add this and where.
Can i find a tutorial for this?

Browser and suite settings are the same in both profiles.

At a loss as to what to try next or how I arrived to this state of

You could try smooth scrolling.  I prefer that because it is less
jumpy that way.

How to smooth scroll ? Is it an SM option/parameter ?

1. On the menu bar, select [Edit > Preferences].

2. On the left side of the Preferences window, select [Appearance >
Content].

3. Under Scrolling on the Content pane, select the checkbox for "Use
smooth scrolling" to insert a checkmark there.

4. Select the OK button.

However, I found smooth scrolling to be somewhat annoying.

I have just try it: back to regular scrolling.
I do not like this smooth scrolling but i agree this can be fine for
someone else.

Exporting as HTML loses relationship between groups of bookmarks.

Short of learning to program sqlite, suggestions?

TIA

I'm up to 12,000 bookmarks these days, and have never had a problem
moving large folders of bookmarks around using Bookmark Manager.

I have maybe 15 first-level folders, with lots of subfolders within
each. With that kind of organization, I can easily see the
big-picture folder structure, and still have plenty of room on the
screen to drill down within a couple of first-level folders at the
same time while reorganizing the subfolders and individual bookmarks.

Ohhh you WELL organized soul. That is my goal.

What I have is an ad hoc collection of POORLY organized bookmarks.
Some in logically nested collections. Many just scattered loose. Some
may date back to Netscape days.

As you observed, once there is a logically organized set of folders
there is no problem moving folders or sub-folders to a new location in
the tree. That's what prompted my post ;/

As an interim solution, is there a way of printing/displaying only
folder titles while displaying their logical tree structure?

Thank you.

My bookmarks date back that far too! Since bookmarks go out of date so
quickly, I never bothered organizing them much until I discovered the
ability to sync bookmarks between my computers. Access to my bookmarks
from anywhere suddenly made the organizational effort worthwhile.

Something has changed recently with Bookmark Manager (besides now being
called 'Library'). Before, the left pane showed folder title for
top-level folders, plus subfolder titles if you clicked the '>' icon,
plus unsorted bookmarks at the bottom. Now the unsorted bookmarks only
appear in the right pane.

But either way, with two panes, you can expose as much of your subfolder
structure as there is space on your monitor in either the left or right
pane. This might not help much on a laptop screen, but it's really great
on a large monitor, and even better with multiple monitors!

The real key to being a well-organized soul is first establishing a
limited number of first-tier folders that work for YOU, before worrying
too much about subfolders. (I give this patient advice to my
long-suffering spouse, to little avail -- at heart she's as compulsively
organized as I am, but she's so overwhelmed by her current mess of a
bookmark collection that she just can't get started dealing with it...)

Does your computers on same network? if so, the whole profile can be
shared , not only bookmarks :)

SeaMonkey doesn't make the portable versions.

You get those from <https://portableapps.com/apps/internet>

There is a Support link there where you could probably ask for an update.

In the past, portableapps.com has been pretty good about having current

Seamonkey DOES make the portable version:
just browse

I tried to install 2.53.2 and still had the same issue with the mail
module.

Also, Sticky Password which is on the Tool Bar is greyed out, I forgot
to say that.

I have tried dis-abling add-on's as well... to no avail.

Any further suggestions or ideas I need to pursue?

TIA - bo1953

Maybe not related, but i think windows Defender is more and more
agressive from some month ago.
Try tu uninstal seamonkey, disabled Defender, install Seamonkey,
re-activated Defender. Maybe something went wrong first time installation?

I use Seamonkey 2.53.2 on both Destop win 10 Pro and Laptop (Lenovo T61)
win 10 Pro with shared profil located on a NAS.
I was forced on both computer to add Seamonkey.exe to "allowed" program
to Dender. It was worling well but without this addition the start of
Seamonkey windows takes between 5 to 10 minutes. After adding , the
start have normal speed (a pair of seconds due to network).

Re: Is anyone else getting stuck seamonkey.exe?

I experienced that problem many times when I was on Windows 7. But when
I moved to Windows 10, it seems to have gone away completely.

Windows 10: from time to time; seamonkey have take 15 or 20 minutes to
launch (but running in windows task manager, just the seamonkey's window
very long to come). Normally the delay is some seconds.
I identify windows defender to be the cause of it, yesterday i add
seamonkey.exe as an "authorized" application for both local and public
area (i start with local only but without any result, adding public area
"seems" to solve the problem).

Hope this can help.

I don't use it.

Firebug has been replaced with the internal developer tools. They
still have a few rough edges and bugs but are working. Ok replacement
together with DOMi.

- AdBlock-Plus is not available anymore. so what ?

I use BlueHell Firewall 2.6.4 and uBlock origin 1.16.4.20 :

2.91 is available but not recommended. I had nothing but problems
(temporary hangs and memory bloat) after 2.82 even with 2.49.x so
switched to uBlock which is still somehwat maintained.

- What about this addon "true-full-screen-in-seamonkey" not needed
anymore ?

I don't think this is needed anymore.

FRG

Thank you for answering, but I think that I must stay with my 2.49.1
until 2.57

Because: (the minimum that I want)
The french dictionary is a web extension
The uBlock origin (replacement of AdBlock-Plus is a web extension

AND in the 2.53.1 release notes I read:

Dictionaries in WebExtension formats do *not* work, even though they
appear to install correctly.

SeaMonkey does not currently support the WebExtensions add-on api.
Some popular add-ons like NoScript and uBlock Origin are no longer
shown because of this on the SeaMonkey add-ons website. You can
usually get them from the manufacturers site. WebExtensions support is
a planned feature for 2.57.

So the questions are:
- Could I pass from 2.49.1 to 2.57 in one step ?
- What is approximately the release date of the 2.57 version ?

I have not undersatnd all the answers It seems very complicated ...
I think that I should abandon SM 2.53.1: i use French dictionary without
any problem.

It was present on my 2.29.5 profile ans is still here and active.

Ops, wait: i check in about:addons and seems no dictionary here
except en-US.
Strange, because i still have spell check active. Maybe because i use
the French official build of Seamonkey?

https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/seamonkey/releases/2.53.1/win64/fr/seamonkey-2.53.1.fr.win64.installer.exe

I use uBlock Origin (1.46.4.20) also without any problem (was also
present in my 2.49.5)
