Yes, they could, but (you knew that was coming, didn't you?) Firefox
is changing it extensions from whatever the old version was to
something called "webextensions", which SeaMonkey is not moving to
just yet, if ever!!

You could try getting the old FF Epub reader extension and feeding
it to a website (who's address I don't have ... someone!!) which
might be able to convert it to a format which would still be
suitable for SM ... maybe.

Thank you, Ed, I knew someone would know the address!

HTH.  And, hey, that's what bookmarks are for!  :-D

Of course I would bookmark it, Ed, but I recently wiped my profile ...
which took all my bookmarks and e-mail addresses! mumble ... mumble!! ;-(

Aha! I needed to install AMO Browsing for SeaMonkey before I could get

EPUBReader 1.5.0.12 installed in my SeaMonkey 2.49.1. Probably the last
one that will work with SeaMonkey until the developers add support for
web extensions.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/epubreader/versions/

The links on that page are null.

They appear to be now, but worked today when I first visited and
installed EPUBReader 1.5.0.12 in my SeaMonkey 2.49.1.

Try using the AMO Browsing for SeaMonkey extension and do a search.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/seamonkey/addon/amo-browsing-for-seamonkey/

When I search there from EPub, I select EPub reader. That sends me to
the Firefox add-ons page. The links to old versions there are
self-referential; that is, they are links to the list of old versions
but not to the actual old versions.

You installed the extension, then went to addons.mozilla.org and
searched for EPUBReader?

I got a page with version 2.0.5 a result with a box under the
description of the extension with,

"The newest SeaMonkey-compatible version of this add-on is 1.5.0.12,
released on February 10, 2017.

and an _Add to SeaMonkey_ link, that installs version 1.5.0.12 in my
test profile.
