What do you do when you can't use the browser on Google Docs anymore?

It works, but complains with a banner :)

For the very rare case where I'm forced to go to a site that doesn't work
with SM 2.12, I use chromium or FF. The only site I can remember not to
work is Adobe's.

Hey Ray,

I'm most definately using 2.39:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/jd7qufo2fk33fxm/Seamonkey-2.39-Update-bug.jpg?dl=0

Like mentioned earlier in this thread, I get this behavior if I have these
conditions met:

- update check disabled
- no manual update check done

All parameters pertaining with updates are all reset on my SM version
2.38 (older than your)

and I don't have the banner you told us.

Hehe, I knew I would get this reaction. More recent versions break one
of my addons (Autofill Forms, DownloadHelper, Download Statusbar) or my
theme (Mostly Crystal), I can't remember which; even if I tweak
maxVersion in install.rdf.

So I'm staying with 2.12.1 and use my brain. I don't browse at random,
have ABP (a bit slow, some day I'll try µB), and run on Linux.

The only nuisance is Google Docs complaining about a too old browser,
and this warning keeps showing because I've set Google cookies to expire
at the end of sessions...

No idea about autofilling forms, since I prefer to do that myself, but
for downloading, I found that DownThemAll works very well.

If you have this banner, your SM version must be very old
I don't beleive that you are under 2.39 ...
What is your User-Agent String ?
Mine is: User agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:41.0)
Gecko/20100101 Firefox/41.0 SeaMonkey/2.38
and I don't have this banner.

Ray, do you have SM set up to automatically check for updates??
Up-thread, Mark seems to indicate that if you are set to auto-check
for updates, you will not get this error message.

NO It's not set .. All parameters pertaining with updates are all reset.
I seen this banner, when i start SM on my old XP pc ...
Therefore, it's impossible for an SM version of 2.39 to show this banner !

O.K., sorry for the noise! ;-)

It's strange that you get an English warning message, while you have a
French copy of SeaMonkey.

You can try to hide the element containing the warning. The easiest way
to detect the element is to have DOM Inspector and Element Inspector
extensions installed and then right-click in the element you want to
find out which it is.

I'm not able to reproduce the warning myself, but from the source of
SeaMonkey, I think the element is named update-warning. [1]

You can add this element in your profile folder in the subfolder chrome
in the file userChrome.css and say what styling you want apply, like in
any other style sheet:

#update-warning {
  display: none !important;
}

(where update-warning is the name of the id of the element you want to hide)

To find your Profile folder go to Help -> Troubleshooting Information ->
Application Basics -> Profile Folder -> Show Folder.

Hope that helps,

Onno

Please bottom-post in this forum, thanks.

Weird, since there is no later release. What happens if you click the
"Check for Updates" button?

Since 2.39 is the latest release, the warning can't be coming from
SeaMonkey (Help | Check for Updates says "There are no updates
available. SeaMonkey will check periodically for updates." -- or in your
case, "There are no updates available. Please check again later or
enable SeaMonkey's automatic update checking.")

You'll have to look elsewhere for the source of the message.
