  Hi guys!

Yeah...it was ME that won the Drash cassette--my wife, actually! It's my
birthday present!

Yes, it was expensive, but I've been wanting it for YEARS! :)

Edward, Tom--hope ya don't mind a guy like me as a member of the 'DRASH
CLUB'...If you DO mind, I'll just start acting like Rodney Dangerfield from
Caddyshack! (Hey--who stepped on the DUCK?!) ;)

And to Hugh--You'll need to come up with a new name for me! :)
(Hugh usually refers to me as the Akalabeth-Owning-Stinking Bastard--or A.O.S.B
for short!)

I'll get it by Friday--pics to follow!

[SWCollect] ultima 1 sealed on ebay

Hey all,

Intresting, butany chance this is a
fake?

Re: [SWCollect] ultima 1 sealed on ebay

I didn't really think it was fake, I was just
entertaining the posibility. Because of it's popularity, the Ultima series
hasfallen victim to somefaked items on ebay in the past; this one
looks fine to me, was just double-checking with the knowledgable to see if
perhaps someone sees something about the auction that I don't.

  Why
would you think it's a fake? That version of Ultima was released after Ultima
3, IIRC. It can't be THAT rare...

Re: [SWCollect] Good alternative to paypal for sellers

2003-10-16 Thread B.L.

On Paypal:

I wouldn't even consider someone who ISNT
verified. That's why they have a verification process. :) You are
taking your own risks otherwise. Really,
Paypal gets such a bad rap, all because oftwo things - people who rip
people off, and people who say how much the who operation sucks if it happens to
happen to them. I've been a paypal member for 3.5 years now and have never
had a single little problem what so ever. Of course, OF COURSE problems
are going to occur. Not everyone in this world is honest. You have
to be careful, very careful who you deal with; just like real life. It's
no different. Good lord if I abandoned/bashed everything that I had one
bad experience with, there'd be a lot of things I don't do anymore! I
don't deal with anyone with less than 10 or 20 Ebay positive feedbacks and they
must also be verified paypal members with at least a handful of transactions
with other verified members as well.

From reading ProPay's FAQ it looks like they charge $0.35 +

similar to paypal expense wise, actually a bit more. As for safety again I'd
have to check further, if you have to provide bank acct (makes sense,
how else would they pay you), then might be subject to "unauthorized
withdrawals" if someone did try a chargeback. Would have to ask, C2it told me
they don't do chargebacks but I guess they are going out of business. I'll
still use paypal but will require verified only and delivery confirm and
insurance unless it is someone I know and/or trust. TomVisit

.35 cents per transaction as well. Not a bad
deal for say a small store owner or something, but not much good to an ebay
seller as far as I could tell.

Propay.com. From what I understand you pay them $35
for one year and you are able to accept credit cards. You actually run the
card yourself. From what I see there can be no reversals but need to look into
it further. $35 a year cheap for sellers, worth it not to worry about paypal
stealing money from you.TomVisit my web page for many games

Re: [SWCollect] New topic--Collectors UNITE!

2003-01-29 Thread B.L.
All my collection is shrinkwrapped only. I don't need to touch the stuff
inside the box, I did that when I actually played them many years ago ;)
They look nicer in the shrinkwrap imo too. I'm not in it to make money, but
there's nothing wrong with keeping the maximum value in tact for my
collection, right? Plus, I think a collection of originally shrinkwrapped
stuff is just more impressive. ;)

I don't know...I hate the idea of keeping software in shrinkwrap. I can
understand that shrinkwrap makes the value higher, because someone buying
a
piece of old software would rather buy a new item than a used item. But as
a
collector, why would I want my software shrinkwrapped unless I'm in the
hobby for profit? I couldn't really enjoy my collection if it was all
shrinkwrapped and I couldn't examine the documentation, feelies, etc. I
mean, I also collect comics. If they were shrinkwrapped, forget it. I
would
never have gotten into the hobby. Collecting shrinkwrapped software, you
might as well just be collecting the box art.

I know some of you keep shrinkwrapped and non-shrinkwrapped copies of the
 same game...maybe if I had a warehouse I would do this too... : )

The what holes? I thought those were there because the shrinkwrapping
machines sucked the air out through those.

I may have actually brought this up in a column once (or was going to):
If
the shrink threatens to compress and damage the package, we may have to
decide slitting it slightly is acceptable. Like the action figure
collectors who decided cutting the spare battery out of the package was
better than having it rupture and leak acid all over an MIP fig.

That's what I figured, but my fingers will tremble when I actually have
 to cut through there.

 didn't...

He's got an image from the YOIS vault, and some (presumably gay) porn on
