I've messed up. Since I've sent this email, Mozilla postponed all
future releases a bit: https://wiki.mozilla.org/RapidRelease/Calendar

So, the schedule for the next steps towards 0.22.1 becomes:

  2014-02-01 package new Firefox ESR
2014-02-02 build and upload final ISO
  2014-02-03 test final ISO
  2014-02-04 release

Can anyone else than me take over the Release Manager role for these
last steps? Worst case, I can do it, or part of it, but it's quite
painful for me.

Core developers: ASAP, please volunteer for the test days, or make it
clear that you can't make it, so we can reschedule slightly if needed.
Thanks in advance!

Note that this *also* postpones 0.23, 1.0 and 1.1. See our updated
release calendar: https://tails.boum.org/contribute/calendar/

I understand that, but can't promise much myself on it at the moment.
My plate is already quite filled, but if I find some spare time, I'll have a
look, even if I feel like it's a quite over my capacities.

I'll finish these tonight, already spend my afternoon testing your
test/rjb-migration branch enhancement.

If there is no takers, I should be available to review them before the
merge, but I have to admit I'd be glad not to do so: I feel like spending
my time reviewing those times :)

I've made some "progress" (more failed attempts to fix it), and the
ticket has more ideas to be tried. It would be really great if someone
took it over from here.

Looks like this will happen: I expect we can merge
feature/incremental-upgrades-integration very early in January :)

Ping?

Also, the freeze is coming soon, quite a few bugfix branches are
pending for review'n'merge, and there are more to come soon (Torbutton
and Iceweasel prefs updates).

bertagaz said he would take care of these ones today:

  * #6496 (Drop sqlite3, nss and nspr backports from our APT repository)
  * #6477 (getTorbuttonUserAgent differs from browser user-agent)

... but those other ones need a reviewer:

  * #6478 (Keyboard shortcuts use QWERTY mapping instead of AZERTY on
French keyboard)
  * #6536 (Windows camouflage script does not set the browser icon to
IE's one anymore)

Any taker?

Fine with me. It's not been formally submitted yet, was it?

No formal ISO release, no test suite, but I'd like it to see more
informal testing than 0.22~rc1, so that we don't discover important
bugs at the last minute this time.

[Tails-dev] Release schedule for Tails 0.22.1

2013-12-08 Thread intrigeri
Hi,

The release after Tails 0.22 will be a point release:

  https://labs.riseup.net/code/projects/tails/roadmap#Tails_0.22.1

I'm prepared to make exceptions to our usual stable merge rules for
some edge cases:

  * upgrading Linux to 3.12, to fix security issues in 3.10; this is
blocked by #6460 (memory wipe broken with 3.11+); this is high
priority IMHO. Any taker?

  * most infrastructure and process improvements that make our life
easier are welcome (e.g. winterfairy's translations import stuff)

  * enabling incremental upgrades by default, if testing is successful
enough, and if fixing most important problems is possible with
minor changes

If there is anything you want to see in 0.22.1, please talk to me
ASAP. We've just had two major releases in a row, and I suggest we now
focus on fixing serious bugs and making progress towards the 1.0 and
1.1 milestones.

Here's is the preliminary release schedule:

2014-01-04 All branches are either merged, or in very
good shape + proposed for review + assigned for QA to
someone (!me) who volunteered to review it in time:
I'll probably be unavailable from the 5th to the 9th.
2014-01-10 freeze: tag RC1, maybe upload IUK
  2014-01-18 package new Firefox ESR
2014-01-18 build and upload final ISO
  2014-01-19 test final ISO
  2014-01-20 test final ISO
  2014-01-21 release

Core developers: ASAP, please volunteer for the test days, or make it
clear that you can't make it, so we can reschedule slightly if needed.
Thanks in advance!
