use never 10 to stop the upgrade before it happens.
this program does not install anything but turns off microsoft
permissions that

allows the upgrade to install itself.
if you do want to install win10 run the program again to turn the
permissions

back on.
you need to go into the windows folder options and unhide system
files. then
you will see the hiden folder where windows 10 files are being
downloaded to.

its in the root directory
windows_bt
and windows_ws
also go into windows update and uncheck install recommended updates

Hi David:

I think that one point of caution should be added.
A few days ago, my cousin, who runs a business from her home and uses
Windows 7, was surprise to find that, despite continually saying no to
all the prompts from Microsoft to upgrade to Windows 7, her machine
just decided, own its own, to install Windows 10 and she could not
stop it.
This meant that should could not do any work all afternoon and so, she
lost three or four hours of productivity.
I told her that she can roll back to Windows 7 within 30 days, which
she was happy to know.
It hasn't happened to my machine, thank the Lord, but it might be a
good idea to take warning.

suffer a painful death tomorrow. This debate could go on and on, and
there is only one answer that really works.

Go get all the facts, compare them with your personal needs, ecconomy
and taste; then sit down and make your personal decision. Does anyone
agree with your decision, fine. Does anyone disagree, they may have
their own solution, and you go for yours.

Guys, when a person asks advice on this list, why don't we give them the
facts, and if necessary some personal experience, and then leave them
open to make their decision. Kind of tired of hearing people knocking
the table with their more or less pre-quoted arguments, that only
today's technology is the best, and everything else will bring you down.
Such is not, and hardly ever has been, the case. Present facts, and let
the user decide upon information.

Win7 is told to stay in business for some three more years. Who knows
what will come up in between. And how long will Win8.1 be supported?
Just like XP, not supported, does not mean don't work any longer. We
have seen two years pass, since XP was no longer supported, and people
still use it. Even if you get a Win7 or 8 machine today, and decide to
upgrade to Win10 - or any future version - at a later time, all you will
have to do, is to pay the upgrade. No real reason to hurry, or rush that
upgrade at the moment. I, and many others, have not bothered the
upgrade. Even have installed third-party software to block any nagging
messages, urging us to do so. The fact that you read this message -
right now - only proves to you, that even with what the geeks consider
old-fashioned versions of Windows, I am still able to read and reply to
emails. I still pay my bills, order my stuff from the net, and do what I
used to. OK, XP had to go, but I do have the choice of cheap Win7 and
Win8 machines, and they are going to serve for a number of years still,
unless all computers will stop working.

Interestingly, some of the big netshops over here, for a moment
advertised their computers preset for Win10. For who knows what reason,
they lately sell their computers only as Win7 and Win8 machines. Yes,
you did read me correctly. Only two days ago, they advertised a machine,
brand new, with Win7 32bit on it. Looking down their lists, I see more
Win7 machines, than I see Win10, and I am getting the feeling Win8 is
the least represented version.

Summing it all up from here:
You guys who want Win10, run and get it, and then may you enjoy it.
Those of you who do not want the latest and greatest, stick with what
you have or can get. Those who are considering an upgrade, go get the
facts, and make your INFORMED decision. And those of you who wants to

Hi. The reason is that the layout that you are probably using is the
zoomtext Fusion layout. This layout uses the screen reading standards, like
insert S for speak all, Insert f7, etc. You might want to go into the
Window-Eyes control panel, expand the keyboard treview by hitting k and
then
right arro, and arroing down to layouts, and tabbing until you hear
Window-Eyes tell you the layout you are on and then down arro and select
the
Window-Eyes defaults layout and hit the apply layout button.

have to do, is to pay the upgrade.

And those of you who wants to
assist people in their query, please stick with clear facts, and drop
your personal add-ons.

I think you have to be running Windows 8.1 or 10. It shows up as a SAPI 5

it is not very responsive to single-character input, similar to to Microsoft

Re: Audible

2016-06-04 Thread Chris T via Talk
Using Internet Explorer with both Windows 7 and 10, My library presents with
one table, if I navigate to that table, I end up at the start of my list of
books. If I navigate by Form control, I end up at a drop down box that
allows one to deliver the book to whichever of my devices I select. I then
shift+tab once and that puts me on the download link. Audible.com changes
the way the library displays in a lot of odd ways if you change settings. I
have mine set to download in Enhanced mode and I think that quality level is
one of the things that changes the way things display.

I also have some trouble with the boxes to change details like how many
books to display and how far back to go with purchase date. But I am usually
able to eventually get the settings to change. I have noticed that these
things work better and better as I reduce the number of titles to display
per page. I generally set it to the minimum now just to make things as easy
as possible.

A quirk I haven't been able to get past with the library search feature is
when my library includes one or more books in which a particular author has
collaborated with another author. No matter how many books by the author I
am searching are in my library, only the multiple author titles appear in
the search results. Very frustrating. I doubt that this has anything to do
with Window-eyes, but it doesn't seem to happen if someone searches my
library without a screen reader, so I wonder if it is caused by something
that only functions if accessibility software is being used. For me, given
the size of my library, this is the issue with the library that causes me
the most trouble.

I have been considering learning to use NVDA both as a backup and for use
with certain sites that seem to work better with that screen reader. I don't
know about the library, but NVDA still displays the portion of the
publisher's description that pops up when those using the mouse place the
pointer over the right spot on the book's listing in search results. It
could be worth a try to check out the library with NVDA to find out what it
does differently if you already use it or don't mind installing it and
giving it a try.

Chris T

battered and broken. I just purchased a book but can’t download it. To start
with, the library will only display my books for the last six months no
matter what I choose. Fortunately, this does display the book I want.
However, in order to get download options, I must hover the mouse over the
title or the clip art. How can one do this with Window-Eyes 9.4? Routing the
mouse does not do this. I am using Windows 7 64-bit pro. I wonder why the
goons at Amazon/Audible make things so hard to use with the PC? Sorry for

if your kloning your drive for a complete mirror backup of the entire

Re: Question about upgrading to windows 10

2016-06-04 Thread Liel Ben Simon ליאל בן סימון via Talk
No! You have to set password in order to use in windows 10. It's possible to
cancel it, but it' require to use in registry to change it.

Backup solution

2016-06-04 Thread Joshua Arthur via Talk
I've been using Casper 8.0 with an older 1TB external USB drive to create
restore point backups. I recently purchased a 6TB drive with the intent on
using that to hold multiple restore point backups and use my old drive as a
bootable disk backup. However, when attempting to create the first restore
point backup on the new drive I received an error that because it is an
Advanced Format Drive Casper does not support it.

Does anyone know a good backup software that would be able to create restore
point backups on such a drive? Obviously it would preferable if this
software is screen reader compatible.

I have the latest version of WE and am presently using Windows 7
Professional intending on updating soon to Windows 10. Hence the desire to
have redundant backups before doing so.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Josh

Re: Audible

2016-06-04 Thread Tom Fairhurst via Talk
There are additional links on the accessible web site, but none of them
relate to downloading a book.

There used to be a link at the top of the audible website which took you to
a more accessible version of the site. Is that still there? If you go to
your library via that link first can you access the download feature more
easily?

goons at Amazon/Audible make things so hard to use with the PC? Sorry for
the rant, but it just gets frustrating.

Have A Problem With Insert A Insert S

2016-06-04 Thread Marcie Brink-Chaney via Talk
I was told that pressing insert s would take me to the system tray but
when I press insert s I get speak all on/off and then I looked in the
manual and found speak all is insert a and going into the system tray is
insert s. When I tried insert a it just reads the current place where
the application is focused for example, when I'm on thunder-bird on the
desktop it says Mozilla thunder-bird. I am using the most current
version of WE. Terry told me that I have to remap the keys but is not
sure where I have to go to do this. Please help! Thank you,
