RE: Getting WE to speak with characters globally, and stick

2015-09-01 Thread Rod Hutton via Talk
Hi Reg,

Here's a link to a zip file in my OneDrive containing Winamp sets and other
files which should help you.
However, please just don't copy them into your WE profile folder since they
might mess your system if you have the Winamp Scripts app installed.
Of particular value for you might be the file Winamp.key which contains the
key labels you're used to having.
I don't use the Winamp Scripts app myself, and so I don't really know what
files the app author includes with his app.
This is why I'm offering these files which might help.
Here's the link:

Subject: Re: Getting WE to speak with characters globally, and stick

So Chris, in Winamp, if I want the keyboard to speak characters in the
"file info" and "Jump to time" dialogues, but not in the main or
playlist editor windows, how do I achieve that?
It used to work but, on one occasion, I opened Winamp and W-E said that
"Winamp.set is not a valid set file" and, since then, whatever I have
tried has not worked.
I use Winamp for broadcasting, so there are times when I want to hear
what I'm typing, but times when I don't want the speech to be audible
when, for instance, starting playback, when the speech says "X" (I have
the function of those keystrokes turned off in Jeff's scripts, but I
still get "X" "V" ETC.)

and it just wont stay put. Does anybody have any ideas as to what to do?

RE: Getting WE to speak with characters globally, and stick

2015-09-01 Thread Chris Grabowski via Talk
Set the keyboard voice to on with characters.
Make sure if you have advance options enabled ( you'll have 13items in the
tree) that your scope button is set to global and not program when bringing up
the Window-eyes control panel.
For example,
Press control-backslash.
Press K until you get to keyboard.
Right arrow to open it.
Down arrow to voice.
Tab once, if you hear voice program scope button, press space until it says
global.
Tab again and set it to on with characters and save your settings.
For those programs where your voice isn't speaking characters, you may need to
open them and make sure the scope button is set to global and not program.
Save your settings.

Listers, I can't believe that I'm dealing with this issue again. The worst part
of it is, I can't remember just how I managed to get WE to speak characters
when typing, and have the setting apply globally, as well as staying set. I
have tried using the insert-1 key, and saving the setting, and also going to
the settings menu in keyboard options and setting it there and typing ctrl-s,

put. Does anybody have any ideas as to what to do?

I'm really pulling my hair out over this one.
