Tags such as the name tag have a global significance - they apply to (almost) all contexts in the same way. There are very few of these global tags (in fact I'm not even convinced ref should be considered global). Most other tags only apply to a small number of contexts, so they become more meaningful if the tag includes a namespace. Often the same tag will carry quite different meanings in different contexts, which means that when taken out of context, the tag becomes very ambiguous. I think we really want a situation where you can just look up a tag to find out what it means, rather than having to work out which of the many definitions apply. -- - Steve xmpp:[EMAIL PROTECTED] sip:[EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.nexusuk.org/ Servatis a periculum, servatis a maleficum - Whisper, Evanescence ___ talk mailing list talk@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/talk

I think in the UK 'psv' is essentially a 'bus'. My son holds a TAXI licence that allows him to carry up to 6 people but only pre-arranged runs, or from a taxi rank. If he wants to charge separate fares to each of those people then he needs to obtain an additional PSV licence, but that would normally only be granted if he switched to a vehicle licensed for 9 or more people. i.e. a Minibus or larger vehicle. There are exemptions to the need for a psv licence but any vehicle carrying more than 9 people 'for hire or reward' does require a psv licence, so coaches are not exempt, and I understand that the luxury 9 seater coaches have now been included where the limit used to be 12 seater. An update to this: To exclude some possibilities, I've removed the relation. Now the lake outlines are simple clockwise water, the islands, for the time being, are simply untagged and out of the picture. No improvement - the problem is clearly not caused by relations. Does anybody have tips for how to proceed? My theory is that the cause may be related to the number of nodes involved or perhaps to some close_areas problem caused by an irregular piece of shoreline near a tile boundary. close_areas does get called now for natural=water, doesn't it?
