[OSM-talk] photon v0.1

2014-08-14 Per discussione Christoph Lingg | komoot
Dear all,

we want to let you know that we have just released version 0.1 of photon. It is
a geocoder based upon elasticsearch, features we provide already are:

 - Typeahead suggestion
 - Fast responses
 - Scalability
 - Multilingual
 - Typo tolerance
 - Minutely up to date OSM data
 - Easy setup

There are prepared dumps available, which makes it very simple to setup your
own instance. But we provide also a public API available on our product page:
http://photon.komoot.de . More technical information is available on our github
page: https://github.com/komoot/photon

Give it a try and let us know what you think about it!

 one?

nominatim is not needed (unless you need continuous updates). We provide
indexed search data to download, so you only need to execute a bunch of
commands, the only requirement is java.

Re: [OSM-talk] photon

2014-08-14 Per discussione Dave F.

Hi

Just had a brief play with it. I may be being a bit dim, but 'geocoder'
doesn't really explain that it's a utility to search the map's database.
Maybe a brief, simple explanation for newbies?

Does it search within relations?

On the http://photon.komoot.de site:
In the 'Try me' box:
Pasting a name fails to search for anything
I'm unable to highlight/select just part of what I've typed to delete
it.

When it does find an entity the text in the the marker's popup bubble is
too faint.

The quick 'fix' would be to grab a 2 year old copy of the planet file,
but the last one in the archive is 14-Sep-2012 and then they are weekly
from then. Extracting your arget area and then rendering a map from it
just follows the same process as working with the current data.

Re: [OSM-talk] New mapping satellite

2014-08-14 Per discussione Kevin Bullock
I am submitting an abstract to present WorldView-3 capabilities at SOTM in
Nov. This is the third WorldView class satellite and its predecessors
both achieve better than 3.5m CE90 (circular error, 90th percentile), and
have since 2007 and 2009 when they were launched. WorldView-3 is expected
to have similar accuracy. DigitalGlobe uses the entire constellation of 6
satellites to map the world. True there are many task orders we fulfill
but the larger mission is to map the world. We can generally do this on an
annual basis.

With our partnership with Mapbox, the OSM community will start seeing this
imagery through the Mapbox satellite layer; this will be of huge value for
mapping new areas and updating OSM.

Here are a couple videos from our launch yesterday:

and my own personal video recorded from Lompoc, CA

Mapbox has some more detailed explanations:

 https://www.mapbox.com/blog/worldview-3-launch/

including an positional accuracy number (3.5 meter) which is of course
just a claim at the moment and is likely for points exactly in nadir
 position.

Note the resolution number is a bit like the Megapixels in digital
cameras, it does not say much about the actual ability to resolve
details although in case of earth observation satellites pushing the
nominal resolution much beyond the optical resolution abilities makes
much less sense since it is very costly.

In contrast to what the register article seems to imply these high
resolution satellites are not systematically mapping the whole planet,
they generally take images on demand for customers. Practically it
will probably mean that in the long term more up-to-date imagery will
become available but mostly in areas where there generally are already
less up-to-date high resolution aerial images.

Two years ago is before the redaction, so you need CC BY-SA data.

The easy way is to get the closest date from
http://planet.openstreetmap.org/cc-by-sa/ and import it with current
tools and the current style. You could also use the XML style as of that
date.

If you want a date between planet files, you'll have to download one and
update it with daily diffs.

If you're doing this for many dates, you may find it easier to extract
from the planet dump with history, but for just one or two dates, what I
describe is an easier method than manipulating that giant file.
Remember, most of the history is recent and the planet from then is
about 60% of the current planet size.

If you're dealing with data prior to version 0.6 of the API, you may
need to downgrade osmosis to extract data from the files. For version
0.4 and earlier, you'll need to use other tools to handle the data model
changes. Of course, for data that old, you probably don't need to
extract as the full planet is under 1GB.

http://is.ridethecity.com/iceland#3661323 [12]
Hjólandi og gangandi mynd úr http://openrouteservice.org/?lang=en
[6]

species. Also zum Beispiel so:
genus=acer
species=acer rubrum

http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/DE:Tag:natural=tree

leaf_type=broadleaved
natural=tree
species:de=Rot-Ahorn
species=Acer rubrum

spatialite.

In batch su tutti i file .osm:
ogr2ogr -f SQLite -dsco spatialite=yes output.sqlite input.osm -gt 2
 --config OGR_SQLITE_SYNCHRONOUS OFF

Qui https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/103202/trash/Palermo---39513.zip

ogr2ogr -f GeoJSON Palermo---39513_points.json Palermo---39513.osm points
ogr2ogr -f GeoJSON Palermo---39513_lines.json Palermo---39513.osm lines
ogr2ogr -f GeoJSON Palermo---39513_multilinestrings.json
Palermo---39513.osm multilinestrings
ogr2ogr -f GeoJSON Palermo---39513_multipolygons.json Palermo---39513.osm
multipolygons
ogr2ogr -f GeoJSON Palermo---39513_other_relations.json Palermo---39513.osm
other_relations

Occhio non sono topojson.

Ma per te ci sono cose come https://github.com/tyrasd/osmtogeojson/

hai certamente ragione,

), devo necessariamente scaricarmi i vari

Dear all,

we want to let you know that we have just released version 0.1 of
photon. It is a geocoder based upon elasticsearch, features we provide
already are:

 - Typeahead suggestion
 - Fast responses
 - Scalability
 - Multilingual
 - Typo tolerance
 - Minutely up to date OSM data
 - Easy setup

There are prepared dumps available, which makes it very simple to
setup your own instance. But we provide also a public API available on
our product page: http://photon.komoot.de . More technical information
is available on our github page: https://github.com/komoot/photon

Give it a try and let us know what you think about it!

Cheers,
Christoph

Hej Pontus!

a dále s nimi pracovat.

těch nadbytečných mezer - není to dlouho, co to tady někdo chtěl řešit a

na build and run query.

openstreetmap.org/wiki/EEA:Nationally_designated_areas_import .
Zároveň bych prosil toho, kdo bude případnou aktualizaci provádět, zda-li by

[OSRM-talk] OSRM backend v0.4.3 release announcement

2014-08-14 Per discussione Dennis Luxen
Dear OSRM community,

I am excited to announce the release of OSRM v0.4.3 [1], your favorite
OpenStreetMap based routing engine. We are moving at a fast pace and are
combining nearly 193 commits (85 files changed, 4,157 additions and 2,276
deletions) this time. This release brings a number of exciting changes!

This is the shortened change log:

- Announcement of waypoints, closes #584
- U-Turns at Via nodes are now allowed (not yet visible in frontend)
- Extraction of road network roughly 10% faster than previous release
- No inconvient use of space in /tmp anymore
- Added a distinct tool to check if hsgr file is valid: osrm-check-hsgr
- Added more unit tests based on boost/test.
- Use multiple cores during sorting steps
- Windows port much more stable, builds with significantly less errors

- Fixed a rare segfault in path query
- Fixed a bug in turn restriction combination including overlaps and one-ways
- Fixed bug in osrm-components tool
- Added timings to a number of locations
- Added BUILD_TOOLS cmake flag, deprecated WITH_TOOLS
- Fixed selection of alternative route name
- Many, many bigger and smaller code changes

Potentially breaking changes:
- bumped minimum GCC version to 4.8
- the projects git repository has been moved [2]

Please note that the minimum supported GCC version is now 4.8. As always, we
are dog-fooding our releases and the code of v0.4.3 is already running on our
demo site [3] for several days without issues. The v0.4.x release series
continues to focus on new features and significate efficiency improvements. Big
thanks to everyone who contributed to this important milestone release!
