3.0.9.10 Weird 8-bit headers decoding

2005-03-31 Thread Konstantin Zhilenko
Hello,

Say we have some message with 8bit strings in the header (common for
russian). Yes, I mean plain 8 bit without mime encoding. See attach for
visual details.

This was taken from a message and you see a result - while message body
was decoded correctly from koi-8, the header was not. What made me wonder -
in the message list subject was displayed correctly though.

Charset in the message was:
Content-type: text/plain; charset=koi8-r

It is quite annoying because subject gets scrambled when you reply to such
message - see screenshot one line up of selected line in message list :(
I am not attaching the rest of the message, but believe me, the body was
decoded properly.

With best regards.

3.0.9.10: Is TB loosing incoming messages?

2005-03-31 Thread MAU
Hello all,

I cannot really prove (I wish I could) it but it looks like TB may be
loosing some incoming messages. At least it seems to be doing some
strange things.

I have seen two problems:

1.- Every now and then I get a 0 bytes message in one of my Inboxes, see
attached PNG for an example. If I try to view source (F9) I get a
Stream read error.

2.- I seem to be loosing some incoming messages, for example just this
morning.

I get all e-mail sent to a 'licensing' alias in an UK domain. This
morning I received a reply to a message from a client but _not_ the
message from the client just sent a couple of hours before. Now, this
could also be due to the UK server where the 'licensing' alias is
managed and I am checking into it, but this alias has been working
flawlessly for years.

Now, are problems 1 and 2 related? They could, but in this specific case
I'd doubt it as the 0 bytes message was received in a different account
(an Admin account) than the one where I receive the messages from the
'licensing' alias (my main work account).

However, there is still a possibility of relationship if the problem was
due to Sorting Office because I do have some Incoming filters in my main
account that do move messages to the Admin account, for example for
spam, viruses, Spamcop reports and a few others.

Has anybody else seem some similar problems?

One last note. I don't recall having any of these problems before
3.0.9.10. Perhaps with 3.0.9.9 but I am not sure.

Folder list behaviour

2005-03-31 Thread Maurice Snellen
Listmembers:

I've noticed that with 3.0.9.10 (and this may have been the case with
earlier pre-beta's) the folder list behaves differently in that:

I use 'full height account tree' layout.

* The 'Name' column now has an auto-width feature that I cannot seem
to turn off. I deliberately chose a certain width for the Name, Unread
and Total columns to avoid getting a horizontal scroll bar. If I want
to prevent it now, my message(list) pane gets too small.

* While there is no arrow on it initially, clicking on 'Name' causes
TB! to display an arrow that seems to indicate a sorting order, yet
nothing happens. No folders change order and the dialog we used to get
is also gone. I would suggest adding an option 'Sort subfolders' to
the context menu of folders.

* I see a line below each account-name. If all accounts are fully
collapsed, this looks fine: separation lines between the accounts, but
if you expand an account, you notice that the separation line is
between the account-name and the first folder. It would be more
logical if the separator line was between accounts.

* Regardless of accounts being collapsed or expanded, if you click on
the account name of an account that has unread messages and do Ctrl-]
or Ctrl-Right to go to the next unread message, instead of going to
the first unread message of the current account, TB! always goes to
the first unread message in the first account in the list. This has
been a major annoyance for me for ages.

Re[2]: Deleting threaded messages

2005-03-31 Thread Steven P Valliere
Richard,

Just to be sure, I tried it again (many times) in both
threaded and non-threaded message lists. Every time it
moved the focus to, and displayed in the view pane, the
first message I right-click after selecting a group. It
does this whether I use the mouse (Left-click, then shift+
left-click elsewhere) or the keyboard (shift+up/down).

The second click always brings up the menu.

  The first is special

Also, though I don't think this is relevant in this case,
I have three monitors and TheBat! is normally on the left
screen, which is to the left on my primary screen (making
all horizontal coordinates negative). I moved TheBat! to
my primary and right screens and this issue remains the
  same.

(However, after moving TheBat! wanted to rethread a message.
I've learned not to allow that because the rethreaded
message always seems to end up in the wrong thread, but
that is a different (and already reported) issue.)

Fortunately I think I can prove it. I was lucky enough to find another

Mau wrote (in mid:[EMAIL PROTECTED]):

If you follow these steps exactly, it's always reproducible.

I have seen this happen _sometimes_ but not always.

Strange.

When it does happen, a second right click does bring up the context
 menu.

Yes, a second click brings it up.

Humble apologies. I misread what you said (I think) and selected a bunch

This is an option, but my preference is to sort by sent time rather than

I'm replying to myself here, I don't know. What is true is that I have
just downloaded TBBeta messages from Gmane newsgroups and Sean's message
is there. See the attached PNGs.
I don't see the message from Sean that starts this whole thread there
though? Also, I can't see the dates.

I've attached a screenshot of what I see at the moment. Note the missing
dates on the messages from Sean.

This is an option, but my preference is to sort by sent time rather

the message which could put messages in the incorrect order at time of
 writing.

I guess the confusion started when you stated the message came through
without a received date (see mid:[EMAIL PROTECTED]) while
you sure meant without a sent date.

Looking at Seans message, the signature discloses it has been sent via
my mobile, in other words not from The Bat!.

Conclusing: Seans mobile has a faulty email client and there is no need
to blame TB!. At least not this time :-)

Hi Stuart Hemming,

Thursday, March 31, 2005
you let us know -at least in parts- :

When TB starts up, without apparent problems, I get a 820 line long
 except.log generated. Is this normal?

This happens here, too. But only using the Return- version. Not in that
one I use at the moment -only TB Return seems to create for some reason
this file and maybe forgets to delete it instead of adding some more
lines. And yes, it is growing each time I restart TB.

3.0.9.10 = sends every message without any problem

I couldn't even open the folder view to verify. If I double clicked on a

even with the hour glass mouse pointer I could go to the folder tree and
select another folder and then... the hour glass would disappear.

I repeated this umpteen times always with same result, I could never
open a folder view.

I tried to write this message with 3.0.9.11 but when selecting the line

1.
Since 3.0.9.8 the right mouse click menu in the spellchecker shows the

QSearch used to appear on typing and disappear on pressing escape.
Both things were broken with new GUI, since 3.0.9.8 the first thing

Should I backup my emails as .eml's and then clean registry and install the
3.0.9.11 in a clean folder then?

thanks

Here is a short list of changes:
 [-] UI: ViewFrame migration finished
 [-] Other : Un-delete
 [-] Other : Shift+Reply button works
[-] Other : sometimes incorrect message follow
[-] UI: folder view has Next/Prev buttons
[-] Other : AV if SmartPad is opened on program shutdown
[-] Other : Tray icon problems
[*] Other : QTemplates have editable shortcuts
[-] Other : Sometimes AV on viewing messages with PNG
[-] ABook : auto QSearch, minor fixes
[*] Editor: New font/background color selection
[-] Minor : AV in finder, 'Quote' and 'Quote With Prefix'
[-] Minor : Overwrite/Insert is disabled in HTML editor, HTML
specific actions added to Format menu

This may have been mentioned already but I cannot stand to look at
another email that has different colors, text sizes, shapes, etc.

Plain text view is NOT STICKING! I have to renable it every time I
change to a new message.

Back to .10.

For me, it isn't remembered moving from one message to the next.

More specifically, if I change it on a read message, then move to
another read message, it stays plain text. If I move from a read
message to an unread message, the unread message is back to rich text
view.
