Re[3]: 0 Byte IMAP messages still an issue
hey Martin I haven't seen this since I started uses the 3.0.9.x beta series. What IMAP Fine-Tune options do you have? Any combination gives me either 0 or a 1K byte count no matter what combinations of options. Another thing interesting is that some .doc's are 0 while others are less that 100 bytes. Also text documents as attachments have the same problem. Oh yeah - bigtime. All attachments are 0 bytes. It's very disappointing to me to have to fire up Thunderbird to run IMAP attachments. the only thing I'd like to do with Thunderbird is make Thunderbird Soup. Is When browsing messages, retrieve only message text checked in Account Properties? If it is, it's quite normal to see zero-byte files. To retrieve, simply double-click the attachment icon. Again, whether just viewing the counts from within the client or saving the attachment, it's all the same and leads to a file with just its header, I think. Here's what's left of a word doc that showed as 241 bytes as an attachment with a mail message size of 102581 bytes: Content-type: APPLICATION/MSWORD; name=11-05-04 canvass.doc Content-encoding: base64 --=_NextPart_000__01C4B77C.08E4B310X-IMAP-url: imap://mail.denaliborough.com/INBOX;uid=187;part=3 Content-type: APPLICATION/MSWORD; name=11-05-04 Special.doc Content-encoding: base64 --=_NextPart_000__01C4B77C.08E4B310-- which was at the end of the message source. -- Neal Laugman Using The Bat! v3.0.9.13 Return and BayesIt! 0.8.0 Release on Win2000 SP4 Current beta is 3.0.9.13 Return | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html IMPORTANT: To register as a Beta tester, use this link first - http://www.ritlabs.com/en/partners/testers/

Re: Some thoughts on Customisation
Hello, MAU! - When assigning a menu item to a toolbar, like Maintenance in Cust_1.PNG, I'd like to be able to choose an icon for it so it is shown as a button. Now it's possible via manual editing def-files (tbuser.def) and batskin.xml. I hope it will be by default in release. Many icons waiting to be added to batskin.png (Maintenance, Preferences, GetMailForAll ). - I think it would be also useful to be able to have toolbar buttons that could be assigned to call/execute external programs, bat files or scripts with the necessary command line options and parameters. Somthing like very useful feature of TotalCommander from long ago. An error occurred while reading the message base (IMAP)
Well, I'm back to posting using Thunderbird again. :-( I haven't seen the message I posted earlier using The Bat!, so I don't know if there was a problem with it. In any case, more serious problems have since developed. I had such high hopes yesterday. After several months of cold feet, I finally decided to bite the bullet and test TB!'s IMAP functioning with the latest beta. I worked for a couple of hours, and everything seemed to work much better than in the past. (There are still some basic IMAP features missing, but otherwise, everything seemed okay.) I left the program running overnight, and when I got up this morning, there was an error message on my screen: Could not create a new index of a message base. Awasu, my RSS reader, was also running, and also displayed an error: Can't load the feed items. It appears that the two errors might have been related, but I'm not sure how. Anyway, I closed both programs and started up The Bat! again. Here's where I seemed to make a serious error: I started experimenting with my settings. Now I found that it was impossible to work, with dozens of Command Center tasks reproducing like rabbits. One thing that I noticed was that for each folder, I now had FIVE IDENTICAL tasks, all saying, Sync with xxx. This resulted in the same problem that caused me to give up on Mulberry a few months ago, when I had to wait for long periods of time while headers were downloading, unable to read my messages. I clicked on a message and waited (and waited) for the body to download. Then, the status bar said something like Unable to select Spam folder (not the folder I had selected), and then I suddenly started to get error messages of the form: An error occurred while reading the message base ...\4D457154.TBB. Do you want to repair this message base now? At this point, if I clicked Yes, the Folder Maintenance Center opened with Check Integrity/Repair checked under Actions to Perform. Unfortunately, while all my IMAP folders were listed, I didn't know how these relate to the 4D457154.TBB message base. Should I open the Folder Maintenance Center, select all the folders, and repair them all? Is this safe with IMAP, or am I in danger of losing messages on the server, as has sometimes happened in the past? Hello Peter, the context menu in the message overview window contains a partially blank line under New [spaces] Ctrl+N which only displays [spaces] Enter. Check mail. using icon, get cascading AVs
Hello Everyone! After launching v. 3.0.9.15 I attempted to check mail using the Receive new mail icon. The screen immediately filled with cascading AVs (sorry, couldn't get addresses), then TB! closed itself. I had been sure nothing was checked in Options/Preferences/Anti-virus, because F-Secure does not run from a plug-in. So, after re-launch, I did check the box for check in-coming mail for viruses. The connection centre came up, the mail dispatcher appeared with a list of a dozen messages, and I downloaded all without problems, filters also working fine. Now to see if this message can be sent without the check out-going mail for viruses box empty. If I add nothing further here, that will mean I was able to send. -- Best regards, Mary The Bat 3.0.9.15 Return on Windows XP 5.1 2600 Service Pack 2 Current beta is 3.0.9.15 Return | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html IMPORTANT: To register as a Beta tester, use this link first - http://www.ritlabs.com/en/partners/testers/
V. 3.0.9.15 Return: can't receive or send mail with it
Hello Everyone! After about half an hour spent trying to make v. 3.0.9.15 work, I have had to drop back to .13. First I tried to receive mail, and TB! filled the screen with cascading AVs and then closed itself. F-Secure does not run from a plug-in, so I had no boxes checked in Options/Preferences/Anti-virus. So, I thought, okay, perhaps I misunderstood. So after re-launching, I checked just the box for incoming mail. I was able to receive 10 messages off the mail dispatcher then with no problem. Okay, thought I, so that's the secret. I composed a message, and tried to send it--just as a test--with the outgoing mail box unchecked. TB! closed itself after numerous cascading AVs, address 7C901095. It did not save my message in the Outbox, although I have Auto-save every 10 seconds in Options/Preferences checked, and I'd been over a minute composing the message. So, I wrote a new message about the cascading AVs. This time I had the box for outgoing mail in Anti-Virus Protection checked. As soon as I called tbbeta's address to the To field in Edit Mail Message window, a warning appeared cannot check mail for viruses. So, neither way can I send a message. This is a big-time show-stopper for me. I'm waiting for the next beta, whatever its number may turn out to be. What's the Smiley for disappointed but not mad? :) -- Best regards, Mary The Bat 3.0.9.13 Return on Windows XP 5.1 2600 Service Pack 2 Current beta is 3.0.9.15 Return | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html IMPORTANT: To register as a Beta tester, use this link first - http://www.ritlabs.com/en/partners/testers/

Bizarre!! Bizarre in spades! If I add nothing further here, that will mean I was able to send. I am flabbergasted. This message went, even though I did not see it go and was covered up with cascading AVs upon sending it. I was able to write down address 7C901095 before the show ended and TB! closed itself. Toolbar Customization Still Does Not Work

issues
Het is donderdag 14 april 2005 en 07:48:00 uur : Hallo tbbeta, my message filters with an imap-account still don't work. Behind the name of the imap account the total amount of new emails is displayed, however, the inbox is only bold but does NOT display the amount of mail. After clicking Account - Properties - OK I get a scrolbar in the account tree which should NOT happen since my thebat window is sufficiently high. I DO have an antivirus program that can run with thebat but not in THIS release. So I think I'm gonna switch back to a previous version. This is annoying. -- groeten, Cees Pi R squared. Nooo!
