But what "openpgp compatibility flag" do you mean? I can't find such a

3.0.9.1x bug: "Character set => set as default" doesn't work

2005-04-26 Thread Bobi Jam
Hello tbbeta,

I created a mail fold which I select one mail and set its character set, and
I clicked "Character set => set as default" hoping all mails in this fold
without character set tag header will use this as their default character
set, while that doesn't happen. All mails without character set tag set
filtered in this folder just use "None" as their character set, and that
make me have to select their character set one by one.

Even worse, with another mail, the character set pop up menu item was
auto-selected what I've selected, but the mail persisted displaying
gibberish, I have to select another character set and select back the
correct one to make it readable.

Can anyone confirm this? Thank!

Oh I hate replying to myself... I noticed something else in the SMTP
communications that TB doesn't seem to handle. The gmail smtp server
reports that it uses ENHANCEDSTATUSCODES which is covered by RFC2034
(I think). This reports that the server MUST add the enhanced status
codes, which in this case is the 2.1.0 part after the 250 part of the
message. This would "conflict" with RFC2821 as RFC2821 says that RSET
MUST receive the response "250 OK". With RFC2034 included it would
mean at the least, the server MUST send "250 2.x.x " which would
make it impossible to comply with RFC2821. You really have to love
trying to diagnose RFC issues ;) I go back to my original suggestion
and say that TB should not read past the 250 UNLESS it is following
RFC2034 as well, in which it can read further onto the line, however
the result in either case is NOT an error (fatal, temporary or
whatever) as it is a 2xx status code.

Okay, this could be interpreted two ways... But it could be read as
a bug on both sides.

[21:31:48]  C: {476 bytes sent}
[21:31:48] S: 250 2.0.0 OK 1114569108
[21:31:48] C: RSET
[21:31:48] S: 250 2.1.0 Flushed
[21:31:48] C: QUIT

This little except is from the final communications of an SMTP
transaction. TB issues an RSET which gmail response with "250 2.1.0
Flushed". RFC2821 says that the SMTP server MUST return "250 OK" (see
section 4.1.1.5 of RFC2821). However, I think some if you read section
2.4 of the same RFC, it says that all replies must start with a 3
digit response code, and optional arguments. However I think reading
the RFC literally, the response MUST be "250 OK", and not what gmail
sent. It would be more friendly for TB to read the first 3 digits to
see if the command issues was in fact an error (4xx or 5xx) or an ok
command (1xx, 2xx, or 3xx).

That makes sense. While the size of the attached file is 93 kB the
size of the mime encoded attachment is about 30% bigger, that's due to
encoding overhead. So it should be around 120 kB on the server.

I can confirm this as all my IMAP accounts behaves just like you
described above.

Personally I haven't enabled concurrent connections to the server,
because it hangs TB! very badly. I also had to disable all features that
access IMAP mailboxes on the background e.g. "use precise counters" and
"when on-line, refresh folders every n minutes", because UI turned to be
extremely slow, practically unusable, it took minutes to see contents of
an folder for example.

Now I only let TB! to connect to the server when I've selected an
account and it've worked very smoothly this far. This latest beta makes
an exception thought. I think I'll revert back to .18 now.

PF> When I delete the hanging task with "Delete", everything is in order
PF> again.

I used to fix this issue by choosing the test concurrent connections
button as it seemed to reset the connection to the IMAP server.

Thanks, Tero

Hmm, the curios thing is the private key, which should mean, that you
"trust" the user.
Nevertheless, I know this kind of message, when I didn't sign or trust
a users key.

So try to right-click the key in GPGshell, go to "edit" and a

I confirm this behavior with BitDefender AV plugin. It seems that it's

AV while deleting part of a thread

2005-04-26 Thread Costas Papadopoulos
Hello,

I had the following error while trying to delete a sub-group of three
messages included in a larger thread. That is, I selected the three
messages and pressed the Delete button. That's when the error occured.
It was one of those cascading AVs, and I had to close The Bat from the
Task Manager.

The attached image shows the headers pane (message list) in a problematic
IMAP folder - first 4 messages are from that folder, while the bottom part
of the list actually shows a folder (from another account) I was using
before I switched to the IMAP folder - you can see that first 4 messages
aren't threaded, while the rest are, since the list was only partially
updated.

No, but I do have low-color glyphs set, because I often connect to my
machine with RDP in 256 color mode, and sooner-or-later TB will switch
High-color images off. It does appear there's a problem with drawing, since
sometimes the AVs won't start appearing until I try to do something in the
headers list (which isn't drawn) - even if I just drag a window over it, or
if I scroll with the mouse wheel.

BTW, for some reason turning on synchronizing seems to have worked around
the problem.

Talking about glyphs, would it be possible to disable coloring the toolbar
images according to color scheme, as this makes them look very ugly with my
color scheme and

This allows your readers, when replying, to quote your text without

Heavy(!) problem with TB on a virtual drive

2005-04-26 Thread Peter Hampf
Hello tbbeta,

I have one testing environment of TB installed on a virtual encrypted
disc which is mounted as a removable medium. Encryption software is
  Dekart Private Disk 2.05.

Everything is running smoothly, no problems so far - except one in TB.

(I am really NOT sure whether this is related to the encrypted disc!)

For this account I am using "Mail Dispatcher/Invoke automatically at each
mail check" and "Leave messages on server".

Now, when checking for new mail, only the newly arrived messages will be
shown. Sometimes after pressing F2 to load the messages, TB simply quits
in the middle of the progress. It loads one to three messages and quits
without a single message or warning. I can repeat that as often as I want
since the received messages are not marked as read/received - TB gets
them the next time again and crashes .. and again and crashes .. and
  again ...

The only solution is to unmark "read" and "receive" in the CC for ALL but
ONE message and receive them step by step, one ofter the other.

The next time - sometimes the next days - everything works fine until the
next "crashing message list" is waiting to be received.

The logfile says something like this:

 26.04.2005, 11:59:41: FETCH - receiving mail messages
 26.04.2005, 11:59:48: FETCH - connected to POP3 server
 26.04.2005, 11:59:53: FETCH - authenticated (plain)
 26.04.2005, 11:59:59: FETCH - 57 messages in the mailbox, 5 new
26.04.2005, 11:59:59: FETCH - Received message from Neal Laugman <[EMAIL
PROTECTED]>, size: 3023 bytes, subject: "Re: Antivirus support broken in last
3.0.9.x betaversions"
26.04.2005, 12:00:00: FETCH - received message from [EMAIL PROTECTED] (3023
bytes) (processed by "TBBeta"), URL: msgid:[EMAIL PROTECTED]

 [booom] :-(

At the second try it received 3 messages, the one shown in the log
snippet above and two other mesages, before crashing. So it's most likely
not the message itself that makes TB silently crash.

Has anybody else seen this before?

 Peter

How inaccurate is it? While testing, it seemed fine, though I didn't

I don't know what it means, but it's an error since it's something
else than TB expects as server response.
Since server responses ought to be preceded with a number it looks like
the client-server communication went out of sync. This could mean that

It's an elementary feature and available from the main menu of the message
(folder) view window. Therefore it should go without saying that it is
accessible with the same (meanwhile standardized) hotkey in this context as
it is from the message (header) list.

Sorry, I do not agree with you and consider this a faulty behaviour (i.e.
bug) rather than a "feature".

Additionally if you define as an hotkey for the print entry in the
View Folder's toolbar, it WILL work but TB will CLOSE the View Folder mode
when opening the print dialog. That makes this soltution unusable.

Don't know whether it's known, but maybe it's not that strange. After
all the print action isn't in the context menu for the preview pane
nor in the context menu of the account tree pane.
Apart from that, I tested it in 3.0.1.33 and 2.12 and in those
versions Ctrl+P only did something in the message list, just as in the
current beta.
There's something to said for printing being an action that should
function from the message view window, but that would be a new feature
not a bug-fix, I think. It's rather in line with other actions like
forwarding that only work from the message list too.
