2006-04-27 Thread Mary Bull
Hello Dwight!

On Wednesday, April 26, 2006, 9:39 PM, you wrote:

When I have a little time instead of phones and intercoms chirping
and incoming messages causing my computer to ding and people
sticking their heads in my office I'll try it again, and make sure
I give it about 150 seconds before I decide it's not working.

Thanks. I know you are very busy, and the issue is not a major one,
just annoying to those plagued by it.

Mary, I didn't mean to suggest you were making demands on my time. I
meant to convey why I hadn't waited a long time before I decided it
wasn't doing what it should. I guess I'm expressing myself about as
well as when I tried to suggest to Mica the other day that even native
English speakers may know some big words.

Oh, dear! I didn't mean to imply that I thought you thought I was
making demands on your time!! (Howzat for great sentence
construction?!!) I just was trying to express a little sympathy for
you as a person in the workaday world of trying to fit Bat-testing
into the context of earning a living.

The perils of text-only communication, when even emoticons can't flesh
out the lack of facial expressions. :(

Anyway, I hope *that* part's settled now. (And I thought what you said
in the TBOT thread was quite clear and amusing! I frequently make
mental typos like that myself, and sometimes we can even see them in
posts from others on TBOT. stating the obvious here ;) )

Anyhow, I ran the same search, and stopped it, then went to an unread
message and waited for it to load (IMAP). Instead of instant response
I waited 1 minute 40 seconds for it to appear, which I assume was the
time it took for the stop to happen. My search was on text in an IMAP
folder (only one IMAP folder) which contained about 2600 messages.

I hope this will be another clue for the development team, when they
have time to have a look at why Stop doesn't immediately stop a
search for some people.

here on the bug under discussion) is:

The Email ISN'T created at all.

My problem was not the same as Vili's.

But just now I have tested .12 once more and I have found that Mass Mailing

'%SIGNCOMPLETE%-'

If that is not present, all works as expected.

Now is this a bug or was the fact that it worked before an unwanted feature?

I can now test what you described before.

after the release rush we will look at this, as we don't like non-workaroundable problems no less than you do.

the main point of the upcoming release is the increased tough on the support side, concerning the bugs that are already fixed (but not yet released). hence, we HAVE TO do this first, as it tends to be the most distracting.

Re: Data Size of Folders

2006-04-27 Thread Michael Geyer
Hi Simon and list,

On Thursday, April 27, 2006 at 13:26:30 GMT +0100 (which was 14:26
where I live) Simon wrote (at least in parts) and made these valuable
points on the subject of Data Size of Folders:

... 'Folder Maintenance' facility, which does indeed
show the physical size of some folders but not others.

Having a look at your png, I guess in those single folders (which do
not show their size) there are no messag files. collapsed folders
will not show any size at all,

I have that behaviour over here in my own common folders anyway. My
guess is, only the sizes of TB's message diles are shown, not the
overall size of a gicen folder in my hirarchy,

That doesn't bother me at all, as I do not use my mesdsage base for
other storage. The only drawback I see is in accounts where
attachments are stored in a seperate folder ;-(

So I don't think there is a bug

v3:Thought:Time spent on development of TB!

2006-04-27 Thread Vili
Hello vitalie,

A second thought after my previous answer: we test betas, and hammer
you Ritlabs guys sometimes that it is not fixed, that is not fixed...
We are not RL employees, but somewhere we are part of the team, right?

I understand (I think) that Ritlabs has to do something else beside
TB! to earn a living, get money, etc.

So, I think, it is not unethical to ask it here: how many manhours RL
spend on developing TB! a week? (man1*hours spent by him/week +man2*hours
spent by him/week+etc...)

I ask it out of curiosity and to kind of equilibrate my/our demands
on the process of TB! bug fixes...

TB 3.73 Unable to send 6mB attachment

Recently, I squawked:

I just switched to Thunderbird Email Client and, oddly, it stalled out
around the 62% limit as TB! had done. Then after about 3 minutes
Thunderbird started herself up again and had a few plateaus,
flat-spots, but zinged through to completion. All the while I was on
the fone with the ISP and they were telling me I personally have no
restrictions set.

So, I am leaning towards a TB! issue.

you let us know -possibly edited- :

  I have been

and 3.96 megabytes then stalls out and never does any more sending.

I tried it with an attachment of 38 megs (my limit is 20 megs for the
target mail address), TB ran smoothly until it reached the last byte. TB
hesitated for a moment and I got my first AV in this RC. Here the details:

---
The Bat!
---
Access violation at address 00404B1C in module 'thebat.exe'. Read of address
FFDB.
---
OK
---

Transmission stopped, my connection was idle but still established.
After confirming the AV, I was unable to restart TB. Nothing would
happen. I launched task manager and found a rest of TB in the process
list, for me the culprit for the start refusal. I unloaded TB's post
mortem process and started again.

I pressed Ctrl+Shift+A to view the log. To my surprise I found:

 5.2.3 {mp015} Message too large (37 MB, 39774401 bytes). Maximum of 20
 MB (20971520 bytes) allowed

Seems that the refusal of the recipient's provider made my bat stumble.
Anyway: It is not the sending itself nor the mail size.

Confirmed.

Now you try out the same with a QT containing the macro %SIGNCOMPLETE%- ?

Mass mailing broken in 3.80 RC1

2006-04-27 Thread Costas Papadopoulos
Hello,

When I use Mass Mailing and a template to send an email in Greek to a
group of people, the resulting email message appears as a list of
question marks.

Also, the subject line, originally containing text in Greek, does not
appear with Greek characters.

This problem did not occur with the previous beta.

CP This problem did not occur with the previous beta.

I could solve the problem of the messages not being created by deleting the
macro %SIGNCOMPLETE%- from the template.

Do you use particular macro's in your template?

By unloading TrendMicro PC-cillin Firewall/Antivirus, the transfer of
9 mb went smooth and quite fast.

The Firewall, when running, didn't have Outbound Antivirus checking
enabled yet the PC-cillin restricted throughput.

I have emailed details to the programmers as I am beta testing

Villi: sorry for the bother.
