Hello Gunivortus,

On 2008-01-06 you wrote:

A while ago I read something about a small tool which installs itself
between the emailclient and the mailserver (as several security tools
do), asking to scramble a message. The reciever needs to install that
tool too and askes a password to descramble it. The sender only has to
give the reciever once a password.

gpg4win might be a useful toolbox for you. Among others it contains
GPGrelay which en-/decrypts on the fly; you can even store a password
permanently.

Guten Morgen,

GG As I said, S/MIME and PGP are too difficult.
Are you talking about creating the keys/certificates?
GG Nope. On the contrary, I'm searching for a secure way without.

I got this all right, but I don't yet see what you mean by
complicated. The only difficult issue about this whole encryption
thing that I can see is setting it up, and that means creating
keys/certificates. But this can be done by a third person, even
offline. This may not exactly be what the fathers of security had in
mind, but it would work.

The process of using Keys/Certificates, once they are installed, looks
almost trivial to me. I simply can't understand the problem you have
with it.

Why don't you create them for whomever will be using the other
end, save them to USB-stick and hand them the stick with the
instruction click there, rest will be auto?
GG Hehehe. I would need much too many sticks.

If you're talking bulk usage - why don't you set up a web server,
secure it with SSL, create certificates for each of your users, give
them a unique URL to get their certificate and have them install it
using a predetermined process, maybe even a skript? If you have money
to spend you might even use MS Windows' built in certificate
authority for this.

Sorry, I just don't see your problem.

M Now, if you are threading by Subject (like I am assuming you do), then
M you are darn right and Ctrl+V does move the entire group in 3.99.29 and

Yes, I'm threading by subject. You're completely right.

M But that is only if you are threading by subject and you select the

M message is moved.

M When threading by Reference, like I do in 99.99% of my folders, then
M Ctrl+V does only move the first message of the thread (if that's the one
M selected), and this is so in 3.99.29 and 4.0.0.x.

Ok, point taken.

M Now, no matter if threading by Subject or by Reference, if you select
M ANY message in a thread (or group) and you use Shift+Ctrl+V, the entire
M thread (or group) will be moved. And this was so in 3.99.29 and still is
M so in 4.0.0.7.

Ok.

M With all of this, my opinion is that the behaviour in 3.99.29 (and

Not easy. If you select a single message in a proper thread, even if

thread or just the selected message? By asking with an options dialog?

But I am beginning to think you may be right in one way. In the case of
subject groups, if you select the group name, then there is no doubt
if what you want to do is move a single message (because the group title
isn't a message) or the entire group. Similarly to what Windows does
when in Explorer you select a file or a folder and use Ctrl+X-Ctrl+V.

Anyway, and in case you don't know, dragging the 'group name' of a
subject group to a different folder does still move the entire thread
(group).

a group of messages related by reference, subject, sender or any other

Video issues?

2008-01-06 Thread Rick Grunwald
I have had some strange but not always repeatable issues when using
the current beta

1) When switching between the ALL tab to addresses it will change but
the tab will not highlight. The only way to change back is to select
the again THEN the other tab. Restarting the Bat will fix the issue.

2) I tried to delete some messages and they wouldn't delete. I verified
that the delete key was working in another app. Restarting the Bat
fixed it but it reappeared shortly

3) When minimizing the bat via the - in the upper right corner or the
task bar, it can take up to 5 seconds to close

I am not 100% sure that it isn't system related but in both cases
reastarting the bat fixes it and the problems are not appearing in any
othe app.

I suppose I have misled you by making a snapshot at the beginning of the
search. Actually there were 42 messages in which MAU was involved. None
showed up.

I doesn't matter who I choose, or how many messages from the person there
are: in no case there are any messages visible in the upper right pane. :-(

I played around with this and got Messages displayed, but

after deleting and adding several Adresses and copying another Adress
from Adressbook and inserting it to History i got an Out of Memory.

I just had that happen on an address. I clicked on it and ... nothing.
CLicked on another then back to the first one and the messages were
visible.

Folder list sorting for 'Unread' and other tabs

2008-01-06 Thread Robert van der Hulst
I have my folder list sorted in a particular way:
for each account the Inbox/Outbox etc first and then the rest of the
folders grouped in order of importance (important ones first)

On the 'Unread' tab we now have the ability to show the account in a
column, which I like very much.

However: I have found no way to display the folders on the 'Unread'
and other tabs in the same order as the original folder list.

Because operations such as 'jump to next unread' use the folder order of
the 'All' tab, using them on the 'Unread' tab sometimes produces
unexpected results. For example 'jump to next unread' on the first
folder of the list goes to the end of the list.

I have opened a BT issue for this. Please support the issue when you

Thought I had figured out what was going wrong. All the addresses I tested
this out on were from people that, even though there's enough mail from/to
them, are not in my address book.

With those who are the messages appear.

To test this out I have put MAU in the address book (changing the name MAU,
leaving his address): even after a restart the messages don't show up.

Perhaps it only works for those that were in the initial query???

Before adding a note: do folder in which no unread messages are left tumble
down after reading the last unread message too?

Because of that phenomenon I now have ordered the unread folders from high to
low (number of unread messages). In that way the jumping is a little less
disturbing...
