Filtering a folder

2009-12-04 Thread Dean
Hello,

I have run into a new to me problem. Started a couple of beta's ago.

I put in new filters which work just fine when I am downloading email.
However, when I try to clean out the
inbox and get the messages to the correct folders, all in the same account. I
get this pop asking which folder.
It always show's the right folder that I am trying to filter - the inbox. I
have to constantly press the ok button usually for every
message, I have noticed today that I may get five messages or so before the pop
up asks again which folder.

The difficult part of this is I cannot cancel the action, I cannot press the
red stop button. Unless I want to hold down the enter
button to get through all the emails. I literally have to CTRl ALT Del my way
out of the program.

Has anyone else run into this problem or know of a fix?
Thanks

Loss of HTML and pictures as attachments.

2004-12-04 Thread Dean

Hello,

I have a strange one, never happened before this am.

I received a post that was HTML based with pictures that were a part
of the HTML based post. I read all mail in Plain Text Micro-Ed. (in
the pre-view pane) with the option to read in HTML. So my post will
show up with tabs at the bottom for txt, HTML, (which will show all
text and pictures) then a tab for each picture. I'm sorry, I'm going
to guess they were jpg but since there gone I can't be sure.

I did something different with this post than I usually do. I decided
to use the right click option to copy and once to move the post to
another account folder where I keep my jokes. At first I couldn't
find the copied post in the new folder. So I tried the right click
option to move the post to the same folder. Nada, but with persistence in trying
to raise the scroll bar to the very top, all of a sudden they
appeared. But, without any of the HTML or pictures.

I thought well maybe since this is OTFE maybe the pics got stuck in an
attachment folder in the original account folder. So, I proceeded to
move the post back to the original folder. Still no HTML or pictures.

I tried sending the post to one of my email accounts thinking the
attachments might hook back up with the post and I could once again
have the original post back in tact. Nothing.

What is weird here is the post still shows it is 556,580 in size
(original size)... When I sent the post it was only 5,287 in size.

One thing I have noticed now the I have gone OTFE is that the option
to keep attachments together or to separate the attachments into
another folder is gone in all my account settings. So, where to
attachments go now? I did try to use maintenance to fix the file - it
shows damaged but has yet to fix the file or the post.

OTFE : Change ABD to EBD

2004-11-27 Thread Dean

Hello,

Concerned my address book(s) would get eradicated in the conversion
to the OTFE program, I placed my personal Address books (*.Abd) in
another folder.

I see if I had the older Version 1 address book that there is a
conversion process to the new EBD file system. But I cannot find a
way to convert my ABD files that were not backed up and went through
the original conversion.

Any ideas or can we get a feature to include a conversion for the ABD
files in the future?

Hi Zygmunt,
Saturday, November 27, 2004, 8:30:27 AM, you wrote:

ZW tried this procedure from AB File menu?

Yes.
Just for some background; I'm using the Professional edition version
3.0.2.8 with OTFE. Prior to using OTFE my address books worked fine.
When I converted to OTFE and tried to import the address books I
had kept back in case of damage. Well, they will not import.

What I see when I try to import an ABD file: I have the option for
Bat Address book, however nothing specific for the ABD files. The
options are CSV, txt of various programs Ie: Pegasus, Eudora..., ABK (version
1), ldif, and if I click on All files I can pick out the ABD file, but it
will not import. I have 3 of these address books, all showing they
have 50k or more. So I know there is something there to import.

The OTFE program for some reason cannot accept/transform the ABD into
an EBD address book. I get a message stating No Addresses have been
imported.

Lost account filters

2004-11-24 Thread Dean

Hello,

I backed up my 3.0.25 version, erased all registry evidence of TheBat
and proceeded to reload a fresh install with the msi file. Before I
started I transferred over the 3.0.2.7 exe. Upon starting The new
empty version I then chose OTFE, and did a restore. All the files are
there in order... The one thing that is missing, this is the second
try doing this, is the filters for each account.

Anyone else having this problem? I do have a copy of TheBat! zipped
so I can retrieve the filters, but that didn't seem to work on my
first install of OFTE. Is there a way to copy or transfer filters?

Sorry if this has been brought up, I didn't want to download new
messages after doing a backup and i can't get into the IP where the
messages are being stored right now.

Re: High CPU use

2004-10-14 Thread Dean
Hi Peter,
Thursday, October 14, 2004, 3:35:26 PM, you wrote:

PF I did a manual re-filtering of 500 of messages in my Inbox - it took 7
PF mins!

PF I have been running TB! for 6 hours today until now: CPU time is 2:17,
PF current Memory usage 67 MB, VM is 84 MB.

PF I am now running a host of other programs and the PC seems slow.

PF OK, so my system is old (I need to buy some new hardware): AMD Athlon
PF 700 MHz, 256 MB Ram. At home (where I am now), I run only POP3
PF (almost), 3 VFs, MyGate, Kaspersky plug-in, load of other plug-ins.

I'm no expert, but I'm running a 233MMX pentium 256 ram on a 1996
motherboard. I run a firewall, AV, Ad-Aware plugin and a couple of
other behind the scenes programs for trojans. Along with TheBat!
process usage during this message is running between 25 + 38%.

With this old board and processor, the things you describe are things
that happen when I have slightly fragmented partitions. Sounds crazy,
but the bat fragments so bad on this machine and slows it down to a
crawl if I don't defrag ever 4 days. I have TheBat! on it's own
partition, IE on it's own partition along with other temp files. I
have to say, another reason I have a huge slow down is with batxxx.tmp
files which can range into the thousands, during some of the betas.
If I carry that baggage around I crawl around...

I don't know if that information will help, but I thought you should
know that if an old 233 can run all this stuff, than you might want to
look at how your other programs are interacting with each other as a
possible problem. Try defragging these older CPU's, I'm also running
version three on a 486 25hz, nothing runs fast on that machine, but it
runs unless there is a lot of fragmentation. I keep that machine
defragged often, it is not used very much for obvious reasons...

Well at 22% overall usage and THeBat! at 1-8% usage while typing this
post I shall close and hope something might help. I hate it when this
thing runs like a snail. Good luck.

I can minimize with no ill effect. However, if I just move to a

gone for any folder from that point onward.

My fix that consistently works is to use the View Windows split mode any

can then pull up the folder with over 3000 messages and the preview

RW That's one I'd like to know how to do too. In my blacked filter before
RW NFS I had words encased in [] separated by |. On converting to NFS
RW they are now encased in |b with the same separator but don't seem to
RW work all the time.

I ended up editing the \b, I had to rewrite the filter, sometimes a
couple of times as it would return after a reboot. Non the less, it
eventually would stick. For filters that didn't work I separated
the enclosed word and then wrote another criteria using an and / or
with the next criteria.
Example: Contains [EBTA]
  OR contains any ofSFT|[EMAIL PROTECTED]
The [EBTA] in the conversion would have turned into \bEBTA\b.

It appears Contains, Contains any of, have been used by some as match
and match any of with success. On this machine I didn't have any luck
with Match, and hadn't tried Match any of. That is just what worked
for me, YMMV :)

The catch all filter I used at the very end was: I took the end of my
email address's, for this example will use 2, and this is how I set it
up which seems to work with my filters:
Example: Contains any of [EMAIL PROTECTED]|[EMAIL PROTECTED] the post
were moved to the inbox and removed from the server.

This worked for me, anything else that didn't have a filter seemed
to slip by the system and end up being a Batxxx.tmp file and was not
deleted from the server. Since you may not have read all the threads
in this post: The automatic placement of posts into the inbox was not
working for this machine with the filters I had, but when I added the
filter above, that seemed to take care of my problems.

MicCullen Maybe...

MicCullen I'm hoping the hit enter method keeps
MicCullen working, as it's by far the easiest to

I don't know what the right answer is, it seems to vary between
machine. I don't have the option to hit enter and the filter works,
but can use the add button and set the condition and that works on
this machine. Doesn't mean it's right, just what works on this
machine... Could be the differences between OS's ie: Win98, Win 2000
and XP and how they handle filters??
I'm just glad I found a filter that is working ;)

NA Any ideas?

I had two factors, don't know if there the same for you.
1) I had some messages that didn't get filtered correctly and ended up
in a tmp file. What that has to do with why it stays open I don't
know.
2) I cleaned out over 3000 batXXX.tmp files, found my hard drive was
fragmented around 7%. I start having problems after about 4%.

To fix: 1) I defragged 2)I opened the bat and made the control center stay open using
preferences. Started and stopped the Bat a couple of times. Then,
this was a lucky doing on my part, I put the control on hide using
preferences and rebooted.

For whatever reason - fragmentation, deleting a massive amount of tmp
files, or the reboot. I don't know which of these actions changed the CC
to stay hidden until used.

I do know TheBat, at least on this machine, does not work well with a
high number of TMP files and if the fragmentation is getting close to
5% I start having all sorts of glitches and slow downs...

Continous download of same files

Hello,
I noticed with Version 3 that I don't see the deleted files action
going on in the control center. I can repeatedly hit the download
email button and the same files will download over again...

The strange part is when I check to see if I'm getting duplicates, I
may get two or 3. When I run maintenance, again 0-3 tops. Yet it
shows I'm downloading 30-70 repeat emails.

The settings are to delete files on server.

I too am getting sporadic misses on the filters. I deleted the

Html Text Link?

2004-02-02 Thread Dean

Hello,

I've searched through the three groups and help FAQ and either missed
it or am blind to the answer. I did see a macro type regex in the
TBTECH list, but don't believe that pertains to this question.

I'm on a list at Yahoo and we would like to set up Text links. I've
tried using the HTML Hyperlink option, Tried sending over a message from
Word where the Hyperlink option worked prior to getting to theBat!. I
have set our group to accept HTML and my personal email can be HTML.
The example I used was directly from Yahoo own Text Message link I
used their source code. Again it worked fine in Word, just not in
theBat!

In case your wondering: At the time I had all options set to HTML so
no that was not a barrier.

Is the Hyperlink option working correctly, are there any explicit
directions on using HTML hyperlink in the Bat I've missed - Will read
the directions just can't find them.

Thanks for any directions to information

Loosing reply text

2003-01-25 Thread Dean

Hello,

When I reply to a message the message will only appear if I use the view button. I
have to do this with each message I reply. Even when I chose to see the message, the

actual message sent.

I don't have HTML set, at least not to my knowledge... My language set is supposed to

to set it is at none

I have been sending myself test messages to my other email address's and it appears to

Possible Bug?

2001-07-31 Thread Dean

Hello,
I was trying to set up a very limited account for one of my
employees. This person is highly non pc oriented, therefore I
wanted to severely limit the capabilities as a user.

1) (the bug?) I made a shortcut for this person
   Target: D:\THE BAT!\thebat.exe
   Start in: D:\THE BAT!\Mail\(the person)
The response is TheBat opens with all accounts exposed. Full access to
admin rights. Therefore, if anyone wanted to change the properties of
the original shortcut, they could easily bypass any administration
decisions of their usage. In this case This person wouldn't know how
to do such a thing, however, in other situations this severely limits
Administration capabilities.

Any thoughts or has anyone else experienced this?
Is there a way to set an icon just for one person so that it goes to
their sign in box? I've checked the Faq's and read the manual if it
was there and I havn't already tried it I don't know where else to
look.

D 2. Could it be that the file got corrupted along the way?

Chances are it was corrupted, however, I have back ups of the program
and all address books on a monthly basis. When i try to import, I
still get nothing. I save the entire program actually, copy the whole
thing to a cd. in working condition.

Is there a way to import the abd. Can one copy an abd from a back up
and place it in the new file?

I have an LDIF file, but it saved with some really bazaar side effects
and am trying to avoid it if possible.

Thanks for the time

A Well, the bug is known but it's an interesting idea to connect this
A to the tmp-files and the crashes. For the problem with accumulating
A tmp-files, this makes perfect sense to me. For TB! this is a failed

A the file does not contain any information = 0 bytes).

I tried to delete one of those tmp files while the bat was open, nada.
Can't view it either as it is in use by TheBat!. I wonder if your on
to something.

J Hello Maxim,

J bug with From field disappearing is still there.

Out of curiosity is your From field the first in line on the left? The reason I
ask is my subject field is the first column on the left and it disappears every
so often.

There seems to be one slight hitch. According to the help files it
covers Outlook and OE 5 (didn't say anything about 5.5). I had
downloaded the program and it had problems with a HP printer, but
I'm not so sure it has the Bat covered??

Well, I tried version h, still am not getting any response when I
use folder or account, properties, then using any of the actual
tabs( contents, index, find...). I must have a setting screwed up
somewhere.

M This is covered in the archive somewhere. Let me check .. Here ya
M go...

Exit TB then copy the ACCOUNT.SRX file from the root folder of your
main mail account to the folder for the account you wish to have the
same filters. When you reload TB the secondary account will have the
 filters.

M As was pointed out at the time, this will overwrite any filters that
M may already be in the second account.
