Re: Error after Windows upgrade

2018-05-18 Thread Alexander Petrari
Hello,

In some cases updating/removing AntispamSniper and/or disabling Windows Defender
in Windows 10 1803 did allow The Bat! to start and send/receive mail.

Would anyone confirm that turning off the "Real-time protection" in Windows
Defender makes the difference when The Bat! reports it cannot connect to
servers?

We do have PCs with Windows 10 updated from 1709 to 1803 and there have been no
issues, The Bat! runs just fine. AntispamSniper hadn't been installed on any of
these computers.

That's the way it goes with MS. Some good versions, some not so.
DOS 3 & 5 good
DOS 4 bad
The first decent Windows version was XP, the next was 7, then 10.
Same with updates, I suspect. I have two Windows partitions on this computer,
both Win 10.
Update 1709 won't install on one, Spring update won't install on the other. I
get to 81% complete, then
hang. Updating from Win 7 to 10 had exactly the same problem. I solved that
one by installing 10
from a dvd. Of course my AMD 6 core cpu is now approaching dinosaurhood. I
refuse to replace
hardware that works just fine.

Anyway, I don't think we can expect more from Rit in the face of this chaos
than the valiant effort which
I am sure they perform daily.

Well, already from the beginning I thought, the problem was caused by
that 1803 Windows upgrade and asked here for help because I thought,
others could have the same problem with it.
I think, I better wait until there's another upgrade.

So, reinstalling The Bat did not solve the problem of no connect with
the server and repeatedly closing the program.
Because I did not get suggestions that solved the problem, I reverted
Windows 10 Pro 64 bit from version 1803 to version 1709 and then
The Bat worked again.
Because I don't know what caused the problem, I am really hesitating
updating Windows again.

I removed TB, keeping all data.
Then I installed the latest msi I have, the 8.0.3.
It did not work, moreover, TB ends itself every time
I open some menu.

Unfortunately that did not work.I still cannot connect to my server,
although with Voyager at my tablet the same server is used. Moreover,
TB all the time closes when I click on whatever menu item.
Maxim, do you know a solution?

This has happened to me several times. A TB reinstall over the
existing system with the latest TB MSI has solved the problem each
time.

You might also check that the WIN update didn't change your default
mail program. Some updates bring default programs back to the MS

Error after Windows upgrade

2018-05-17 Thread Gunivortus Goos
 Hi!

After yesterday my Windows Pro 64 bit was updated to
Version 1803 (Build 17134.48) and my computer had rebooted,
The Bat (Professional Edition Version 8.3.0.3 (BETA) (64-bit)
does not work properly anymore.
No other program was updated.
My security program (AVG Internet Security - Total Protection) did
not change, The Bat is there still listed as 'trustable'

Not properly means ... no connection with the server and, since the
Windows upgrade, The Bat does not start each time at system-startup
(although listed in the startup programs) and already several times after
trying to get/send mail by hand, TB simply closes and I have to restart it.
Below the last entry of the thebat64_Exceptions.log.
Any help to get it working again is highly appreciated.

(This message was written with TB-Voyager at my tablet, which is not
updated yet).

Kind regards,
Guus
