Re: Mass mailing - Newsletter - SOLVED

2008-03-08 Thread Gunivortus Goos
Hi,

those, who tried to help me using TB for a Newsletter, thanks.

 1) open editor and write a message
 2) select whole message and use Utilities | Create a Quick template
 3) enter name and description for this Quick template:B
...etc.

I seriously tried it, but it's too spartanic for me, every time I
will create and send a newsletter doing those technical things,
it's not comfortable enough.

So I left TB and choose for the easy way; I'm misusing now my
mailserver for it; created a mailinglist, configured it a one-way-one
and added the members in one run. New members can subscribe
themselves through my webpage.
(That's to say, my son configured it for me. :-) )

Now I can simply use TB for writing my html newsletters in colours
and with pictures and send them to the list.

 Maybe.
But it's mainly me, my attitude. I wants things comfortable.
 Starting a wizard, which sdays:

I do also Newslettering and it's so easy. Her we go:

Step 1: IMPORTANT: Before you start set Focus to the Account you
  want to use.
Open the Address Book and go to:
'File - Mass Mailing using template - Quick template'
  Select 'New'

Step 2: Fill in the 'Handle' and 'Description'
Now come the Macros that is almost the simplest part. (I
attache for you one sample and if you need more Macros just
press the 'Macro' Button at bottom left)
Confirm and Close with 'Ok' Button
BTW: look at the 'Options' if you want to have something
   set.

',- [ Your possible QT for Newsletter ]
'| Dear %TOFNAME,
'| Dear all,
'| %REPLYTO=Your Name [EMAIL PROTECTED]%SUBJECT=[if you have a date in the
Subject] %DATE='yyymmdd'
'| %LANGUAGE=am%RCPTCONFIRM%READCONFIRM%SINGLERE
'| [Here I put any thing important before the actual NL]
'|
'| %CLIPBOARD [--- VERY IMPORTANT see below]
'|
'| ---==[ FURTHER NEWS ]-
'| Have you
'|
'| Your Name and Sig
'|http://PossibleURI.com
`-

Step 3: Open an empty 'Edit Mail Message' (F5).
Now write what ever you like to have in the the Newsletter
  including all format.

Step 4: Copy the whole Text with 'Ctrl-C' and return to the Address
Book and select again: 'File - Mass Mailing using template'
Now you should see your QT-Name and Description
  Select it!
Make further Selection as you need (I usually put all in the
Outbox fist - just in case)
Hit 'Go' (If all is first in the Outbox then go there and
  process)
You are done - Enjoy! :)

For me this has always worked fine. As you can see, the %CLIPBOARD
Macro is the trick. Every time you have a new Newsletter, just write
it in a new Edit Message Window, Ctrl-C then run QT as in 'Step 4'.

That is sad. You are cheating yourself.

 Nope. I'll buy a Newsletterprogram with a wizard. :-)

Try 'GroupMail' http://www.group-mail.com/asp/common/editions.asp?f=32

I've used the free edition and it's simpler than the mechanics in a
spoon. It even has an 'Introduction Wizard' that walks you through
everything you need to configure.

Hello Gunivortus,

It's ment for sending everytime the same mail to a group of people...

Yes, it is meant to send the same email (e.g. a newsletter) to a group
of people. But this doesn't mean that it has to be the *same* email
(newsletter) every month.

Anyway Gunivortus, this is TBBeta. I personally think you message fits
better in TBUDL.

2008-02-22 Thread Vili
My small oder Newsletter program doesn't work under Vista well, so I
thought, I could easily use TB for it, 'cause in the Help is a
'tutorial' for mass mailings. Wow, that's far to meagre. It's ment
for sending everytime the same mail to a group of people, I want once
a month sending a new newsletter. Then there's nothing helpfull like
some wizard, as f.i. with the creating of a new account. Making new
quick templates, making some new group in the addressbook.
I'm quite disappointed of TB at this point.
I've to seek/buy a much more handsome newsletter program.
Maybe a suggestion for the development team to improve this?

I do mass mailing. TB is just perfect for that. You make a QT (half a
min if you have the text), select the addresses and make the mails.
Ca. 2 min or so.

Hi Maggi,

Me, too, but I'd like to learn - maybe Vili and Paul will write a
 tutorial on TBUDL? :-)

Maybe.
But it's mainly me, my attitude. I wants things comfortable. Starting
a wizard, which sdays: put here the senderaddress, put here this,
import here your addresses now, etc. I've lots of such little tools
which makes me life comfortable. And I can allow it paying a bit for
that.

...grins. I don't need to go to the backery in the morning, he
delivers me rolls and croissants early in the morning in a bag on my
door; if I wake up later and open the door they're there. :-)
That's the life I like.

But OK, this might be indeed the wrong place to discuss this, 'cause
I don't expect ritlabs will built-in such niche wizards on more
places than the first install and vreating new accounts.
So EOD.
