Account list, scrollbar problem

2005-09-02 Thread Vili
Hello tbbeta,

Someone reported sometimes a similar behavior, I remember, but I cant
find it...

So, expand your account list until the scrollbar will appear, plus
expand one more account. Pull down the scrollbar completely so you
will see the end of the account list but you dont see the first some
accounts. Now close every expanded account that you can see on the
screen, but DONT scroll up! If you finished, you will see your
accounts closed except the first some account. AND you see the
scrollbar. Try to pull up the scrollbar. Magic: it disappears...

It is not a major issue, but should be fixed. I am sensing custom
scrollbar use for that Delphi custom treeview component (account
list.)

Stuart made that report and I have on it supporting notes.

Not sure if it was Stuart Hemming, Stuart Cuddy, or some other

Anyway, the issue mentioned in BT 4290 is Confirmed but not fixed.

The Stuart who is the reporter noted that the problem is still present
in beta v. 3.60.02.

And, of course, it's still present in release version 3.60.07.

I have just added a note confirming that the scrollbar problems all
still exist.

This BT issue, while confirmed, has not yet been assigned and, as I
said above, is still open.

Scrollbar problem in Account Tree Revisisted

Hello tbbeta,

Message-ID: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

 AM Hi all,

AM Can you all duplicate the following?:

AM Setup your account tree so that the scroll-bar isn't required and
AM doesn't show up. You may have to collapse accounts to do this.

AM Now expand an account or two so that the scroll-bar appears and the full
AM folder list isn't in view, taking up more than the space provided in the
AM accounts pane. Scroll downwards, and then collapse a lower account so that
AM what's left may now be displayed in the account tree area.

AM I note two things:
AM - the folder tree doesn't readjust to fill the space provided
AM - the scroll-bar disappears. I have to use the mouse or arrow keys to
AM scroll the upper folders back into view.

With the new version of The Bat! (3.5.27), I revisited this previous
known problem.

It looks like it is getting better as I was messing around with it
just now. I believe the problem still exists, but not as bad as it
was. It does not do as the two things that Allie mentioned above, but
there is still some weird behavior. When I go to the bottom of the
scroll bar, it jumps to the bottom and there is a lot of White
Space. But if I move the scroll bar up just a little the display area
will Jump into the correct position.

But at the same time, I have had 2 AV's doing this too. Here is one:

=

Access Violation at address 0005096E. Read of Address 0005096E.

=

Sorry I didn't get the address of the other one.

Just providing some follow-up on known previous problems...

Confirmed.

This is probably of-a-piece with all the other scroll-bar and
empty-lines problems that have been noted over and over through the
UI-Customise beta series leading up to v. 3.5, never attended to, and
still unfixed.

I have been debating for a couple of weeks whether to write a bug note
about it.

I think maybe the developers thought when they fixed the empty lines
situation using the mouse to scroll (in message composition window and
account/folder tree pane) that they had fixed everything.

But a right/click menu use to go to the bottom of either the account
tree or the message composition (Edit Message) window, still leaves
the problem of those empty spaces.

I'm going to think about it overnight and perhaps put up a bug note
tomorrow.

Surely this is not Working As Designed ?

bottom of the list. Make sure the root of the thread is visible since
you'll need to collapse the thread to see that the message list doesn't
adjust to fill the empty part of the message list pane left after
 collapsing the thread.

Confirmed.

And please see my message just sent,
mid:[EMAIL PROTECTED] ,

where I confirm and relate this to other scroll-bar problems. I think
they might all very well fit in one bug note.

Re[2]: Scrollbar problem in Account Tree

 I note two things:
 - the folder tree doesn't readjust to fill the space provided
 - the scroll-bar disappears. I have to use the mouse or arrow keys to
scroll the upper folders back into view.

 Confirmed.

AM Actually, the very same problem affects the message list.

AM - collapse all threads.

AM - expand a thread at the bottom of the list and then scroll to the
AM bottom of the list. Make sure the root of the thread is visible since
AM you'll need to collapse the thread to see that the message list doesn't
AM adjust to fill the empty part of the message list pane left after
AM collapsing the thread.

Further, in Micro-ed the same kind of behavior. See:
https://www.ritlabs.com/bt/view.php?id=4290.

Also try Selecting View/Display/Unread Messages Only. All the messages
are scrolled off the top instead of filling the screen from the top
down.

I have just added a further note to
https://www.ritlabs.com/bt/view.php?id=4290. which I also supported
back in March, when you wrote it, Stuart.

But, I think, in order to get full attention, maybe we need a complete
new note citing v. 3.5.25, and describing all the scroll-bar lacks in
a numbered list.

What do the rest of you think?
