As the others alredy pointed out this would not work, because TAB is
an editing command. But Shift-Tab isn't.

So my proposal for a shortcut would be:

Keyboard action Cursor in
--
 To:
TAB CC:
...
TAB Subject:
TAB Textarea
Typing text...
Shift-TABAttachments pane

Currenty when pressing Shift-Tab the focus goes...uhm...I don't know.
So we could possibly use that shortcut...

BTW: has anybody found out where the focus goes when you press
Shift-Tab while editing the text???

OK. So me not finding the encrypted message I was searching for

different problem" as it seems ;-)

I did exactly the same (copied "to find" text from a decrypted message
and pasted it as search string) and came up with no results either.

In my version [Shift]+[Tab] reverses the tabbing sequence. This is an
expected action. I write database applications and reverse tabbing is
the behavior there too.

I prefer a hotkey that uses the letter A in some manner to keep it
more intuitive.

I want to see this issue addressed on TBBETA and well discussed and a
consensus arrived at, as to what the hotkey should be.

Meanwhile, I am getting ready to write a BT report on the original
"tab to the attachment pane rather than the Edit Mail Message body

Unnecesary text label in Attachments Pane

2005-08-19 Thread Mary Bull
Hello Everyone!

Another unwanted change is the text label "Attachments" at the top of
the Attachments pane in the Edit Mail Message window.

The pane doesn't appear unless there are attachments in it.

At that point, it's obvious what the pane is.

So the text "Attachments" label is superflous and only gets in the
way. At least, that's what I think.

I believe that the label should be removed. Anyone else care to
comment on this?

I have seen this happen every now and then (2 or 3 times per month) with
different versions and _real_ folders. This can be related to AV
software scanning incoming email (9Val's thought) but the rate of
occurrence here is so low that I have not been able to prove if problem

Ongoing Memory Leak Problem 3.60.01

2005-08-19 Thread Ethan J. Mings

> [-] memory leaks

A problem reported with the last beta on the list and in bug track was
memory leak issues. Specifically, the more you used The Bat, the
higher and higher the memory usage would climb. Then, if you
minimized the program, memory usage would drop significantly. Then
once you started to work in the program, the problem would start all
over again (climbing memory usage).

This beta does not have the "rapid" increase in memory, however the
problem still exists.

Simple, open, send, and read mail while watching task manager, you
will see the memory usage continues to climb.

Minimize the program and memory usage drops.

This would be a show stopper, I believe, in a final release copy.

I understand it is still being fixed.

I hope.

Hello 9Val,

It seems this version uses less memory...:)) And faster...

IMAP:

- The server side outbox problem that I reported on Aug 6 to the list
and in private, still exists. If you turn Message autoview on, no
problem.

- Start situation: message autoview turned off, using server side
outbox, no mail in the outbox, outbox is compressed: make a new mail,
store as draft. The counter shows 1 mail in outbox, but the list of
the mails is not updated. Have to jump to other folder and back to
refresh it.

-I suggest to change the string "No message loaded" to "Please wait,
loading message" when you have to download a mail from IMAP.

3.60.02 "Forerunner" and OTFE Search

2005-08-19 Thread Jay Walker
It starts slow and eventually hangs/freezes. Stopping is still
difficult. After stopping a frozen search, I got some AVs and a
"System Error, Code: 1400, Invalid window handle". (And, of course,
the same search works fine when OTFE is not enabled.) Reverting to "No
OTFE".

So I hope that this "forerunner" will be the fulfillment of the 3.x
Pro promise of OTFE (that I bought quite some time ago and am still
unable to implement); but if so, it seems that you still have a long
way to go.

(By the way, has anyone noticed that the Mail Dispatcher does not show
special characters that are shown correctly when the message is
actually received? I noticed this in 3.51.10, but have not confirmed
in 3.60.02.)

Deleted to Trash but not marked read

2005-08-19 Thread Curtis
Hi all,

This beta is running well here.

However, a bug still prevails. When I delete to trash, the messages are
counted as unread on the trash folder count tally. However, on selecting
the folder, the unread message count goes to zero.

I have the option to mark deleted messages as read enabled in my account
options.
