Filter does't work

2001-11-13 Thread Eddie Castelli

Good morning 'TB!udl List',

Recently I get a reply from a very particular eMail address when
posting a msg in a ML. The body is empty an the Kludges shows only a
few informations.

Now, if my filter say: ??nnn??@aol.com | sender | yes it doesn't work.
Also : ??nnn??@aol.com | kludges | yes has no effect.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong??

BTW: my TB! version is shown below

Thank you and have a nice day :-)

Hi,

I have been reading the problems everybody has with filters, myself
  included.

Would it not great if you could export a single filter to a file and
  mail it to someone.
The other person could then use it or just check it.

They can only be removed when ZA has been shut down. Restarting ZA

Wrong button text (was: Re: Filter suggestion)

2001-11-13 Thread Carsten Thönges

Hi Thomas,

Go to Account / Sorting Office and put the focus on any filter (left
half of the window). Then right-click on the filter name. You will see
the context menu contains the menu item copy. Click on it. Your
filter is now in your clipboard, and you can paste it whereever you
 want. ;-)

there is a button 'copy' in the sorting office that should imho be
labeled 'duplicate' because that's what it does. Same in German
version. The context menu is okay.

Is this worth a bug report? I know that there will be a complete face
lifting in the near future... ;-)

Suggest Filter Rules

Fellow TB users,

Had written earlier but did not get any response so thought will try again
explaining the reqt.

I need to send standard replies to mails I receive. There are instances when I
receive duplicate mails and do not want to send duplicate replies.

So I thought of adding addresses to a specified group in an address book and
send mail only if the address is NOT present in the address book.

In other words what I need to achieve is to add the address to the address book
if not present AND send the mail. Also to delete the mail if the address is
present.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

attachment storing

2001-11-13 Thread Igor Tikhomirov

Hello TBUDL,

Using The Bat! v1.53d on Windows 98
4.10 Build 1998

-- I have two accounts. Every account uses different folders on different
network HDs for storing mail and attachments (apart from messages).
Why the attachments themselves are NOT moving, when I am moving
messages between the accounts?

The same with filtering - I am receiving mail from one account, but
some messages go after filtration on receiving to another (sort of
private) one. The same thing - their attachments remain in the account,
that was connecting to the net. (I see them, attached to the letter,
but they are in the wrong folder.

-- Rather often I send the same attachment (whether picture or
document) to different recipients, and not simultaneously. Every
time this attachment is stored _again_ (!) in the attachment folder,
with adding '1', '2', and so on to its name... (Even if I take the
attachment not from original place, but from already saved copy in
attachment folder). But every time it thus takes more and more space
on hard drive.

The question: is there any way to stop duplicating the files in
this case? I'm a little bit tired of manual deleting :))

If the message bases were deleted, go directly to DOS (if you have
Win2k, use bootdisk) when starting the computer, and try to use
Norton's UnErase (or similar program). If you're lucky, you'll be able
to recover the files (note that this will only work on FAT16 and FAT32
drives. I don't know what to do if you have NTFS).

Don't go to Windows before (as they keep writing to the drive), and
don't save *anything* to that drive, as it makes the chances of
recovering your files smaller.

Create a new folder in your current account, call it temp or restore

Happened to me once: One folder (not Inbox but another one) kept
disappearing, I had to copy in the backup each time, which was good
for a moment at the time.

Turned out one of the mails had a virus in the attachment (which was
stored in the message body) and upon the first access to that folder,
PC-Cillin would quarantine the whole file (as all messages in one
folder are ion the same file). I wasted two days before it hit me...
maybe the same on your end?

problem. Kindly elaborate.

You don't need to import it in order to send it on. You attach it to
an email. You also cannot make it part of all other mails in the
folder, as TB does not allow you to alter those mails. Only mails in
ther Outbox can be edited.

If you want to create an HTML email, you do exactly the same thing:
You create and HTML file with your preferred HTML editor, and then
attach it to an empty email.

TF Kindly elaborate

Let me try again...

I have a particular account where mails have been filtered by a certain rule
and moved to a specified folder.

Next I need to reply to these mails. Generally I get one mail from one id...
Occasionally though there are duplicate messages from the same id. Now I do not
want to reply twice.

After I have replied these messaged have no value and are deleted.

Hence the requirement is to

1. Check if message has been replied before... If Yes delete
2. If No send message and delete.

What I did was was to create three filters

Filter 1. Will check whether the address is present in the address book. Action
is to send mail change the color (Let's say Red)

Filter 2. Is defined to delete all messages with color group red after adding
the address to the AB

Filter 3. Will delete all the balance messages.

The problem is filter 1 does not work. I have ticked 'Manual' and function with
a Hot Key (Also ticked - Check this against the rule) The message is created
irrespective if the address is present or not provided I uncheck the tick box
under the Hot Key. When I check it no messages are sent.

Thank you for your response.
It's not mend to make an HTML attachment nor is it to write an HTML
eMail.

Let try to describe it a bit more precisely.
Lets take this ML as en example. Going to the Archive I find a
posting that I like to download and put it into the same folder
where I'm now. When I right click this posting and a save it it's a
  HTML file.
Importing it to TB! is impossible (as HTML). So I have probably to
make an other step in converting it to MSG or so.

You have any Idea how to proceed?

P.S. hope this explains it better ;-)
