Hello! I am just following this list since a few weeks. It seems to be a well moderated list with a lot of hints and helpful members. But now I see that I might be wrong. The discussion about the BAT's word wrapping is going to be too emotional and looks like a flamewar. Even after several comments of the list moderator it doesn't stop. From the technical point of view everything is said (IMHO) so if someone is interesting in commenting the way other people are writing their emails and the tone they are using why don't you send your comments directly to this people (I should probably have done so with this mail, too. But I already deleted this thread). Or better: Just stop it, please! I hope I haven't started a flamewar with this mail ;-) Kind regards and a happy new year -- Dirk Dörr mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] P. S.: Until this thread I didn't even recognize a big difference between BAT's editor and other mail applications (Now I checked and saw it) But still it isn't a big issue for me. I am more concerned about other features like the missing of a on-the-fly-decrypting and not storing of a PGP message (This for example is a main reason why I cannot recommend BAT to my friends! But that's another topic). -- Archives : http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com Moderators : mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] TBTech List: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Latest Vers: 1.53d FAQ: http://faq.thebat.dutaint.com

Re: SpellChecker
If there is one thing about the_Bat! it is the stability. I grew up on Eudora, from version 1 to version 4. I really liked it and it did enough of what I needed an e-mail client. Unfortunately, from version 4 (and then v. 5) it started crashing unmercifully. A newly formatted hard drive and fresh installation of Eudora worked perfectly...for 1 month. Then it would start crashing on opening folders, closing folders, exiting the program, etc. Very disgusting and that was when I started looking for something else. I don't think the_Bat! has ever crashed on me, or if it did, it was likely something I did. -- Have a great day, Sammailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] As long as you can laugh at yourself you will never cease to be amused. I agree with you here. DT I'll repeat the suggestion I've made before: Provide *one more* DT selection that switches between novice mode and seasoned user DT mode. IMHO this is quite a reasonable suggestion. However, I wouldn't change the whole interface to hide advances functions, but rather move advanced funtions under an Advanced... menu item in each menu. Many programs have an Advanced tab for the more complex features, so this should not be too far-fetched. -- Cheers, Thomas. Moderator der deutschen The Bat! Beginner Liste. I've heard of many Users contracting a NA virus when simply opening an HTML message, but that will only be the NA case if you have your Client set to fetch material from a remote web NA site as per instructions within the message itself. However, if you run NA TB! or Becky! with that feature disabled, then I can't see where you NA would contract a virus simply by being on line. I, too, would be most curious as to how this would work. In addition, even if you open web pages with your favourite browser, I find it rather unusual to download a virus without your knowledge. If you do download a file inadvertedly (is that possible?), your AV software will not allow this file to be accessible, as it will quarantine it. I keep telling everybody with virus problems that they must have actively done something to allow the virus to be active on their computers. If there is a new technology and a computer can be infected by just web browsing (with the usual precautions), I'd like to know about it. HTML gets new versions with new features all the time, and I am not in the IT industry, so it is possible that I missed something here. -- Cheers, Thomas. Moderator der deutschen The Bat! In my estimation, we could resolve a lot of this simply by providing User definable Toolbars, so Newbie's (default setting) and Power Users alike could customise their Toolbars/Options to suit their own specific needs. Well, it might not resolve all the problems, but it sure would be a step in the right direction. :o) -- Nick -=N.J. Andriash | Courtenay, B.C.
