How do I send from a selected isp?

2002-03-11 Thread Big Pond

Hello fellow Bat! fans.

I have two POP/SMTP accounts.

mail.bigpond.com
mail.rivernet.com.au

Bigpond is the dial up isp.

Some mailing lists to which I belong check that I use the correct name, and have
posted from the correct SMTP (like Bat! mailing list, I suppose).

What macro do I use to allow mail to be sent from bigpond, but to appear' as
sent from rivernet, so it is accepted by the mailing list? Of course this mail
must also be in the out box of the dial up isp i.e. bigpond, as bigpond does not
allow SMTP relay.

TIA.

Neither TBUDL nor TBBETA cares about which SMTP-server you use, they only
cares about the From:address.

Interesting that they're offering Express Plus, an email package which
purports to tie closely with T C and has some nice features:

http://www.isbister.com/express-plus-is-cool.asp

Evidently there's a need for an email + agenda combination. (I can
understand it - I always get complaints about 'why didn't you respond
to that meeting request', with the answer 'as I don't use Outlook the
voting buttons don't show' :)

I use AMF Daily Planner Personal Information Manager:

Although there's no explicit tie-in with TB! it's a nice package.

Om 22:43 op zaterdag 9 maart 2002, Larry Hertzog:

I think the Ticker is a great idea. I like to have visual notification
of received email. What I'm wondering is -- is there a way to close
this visual without clicking HIDE -- which will actually disable it.

 Can it be done?

No, it can't be done. This is why I wrote a small program for just that.

It runs on receiving mail (thru a 'catch-all' mail-filter), checks if it
runs already and displays a small envelope in the system tray, that you
can click to make it go away, which at the same time focuses your
Bat!-window.

It Works For Me, it won't be developed any further but it suits the
purpose just fine. I can make the binary available if someone wants it
(mail me privately)?

A small drawback is that there is no communication between TB and the
program, so if you've read all your mail, there might still be an envelope
left in the system tray, which makes you believe there is new mail.
Another one is that if you receive 1200 new messages, the program is run
(through the filter) 1200 times. This slightly delays receiving new
messages. (But since the program checks if it is running, you won't see
1200 envelopes in your tray :)

I think the programmers should put this inside TB, that would make life
much easier. :)

Reading Confirmation Bug?

2002-03-11 Thread Gene Gough

I received a note today with a request for reading confirmation. I
have kept that note in my inbox as a reminder of some action that I
have to take. Now every new note into my inbox causes the attempted
send of a reading confirmation of that first note. I have sent one
just to see if it would stop this but it made no difference. It
also doesn't matter if the new note has been filtered to a different
folder or not, any attempt to read it will result in the prompt for
confirmation on the first note above.

I don't know whether it is necessary to separately install MAPI
support for IE, but it couldn't hurt (unless you want another mailer
to be the mailer called by other applications). Under the Options
menu (for the account having administrator privileges), go to
Preferences on the first line, then the Appllications tab. Install
the Simple MAPI support by pressing the large button. Close out and
restart the computer and see whether that takes care of it.

While typing and noting the failure of text reflowing just hit Alt-L and
this will reflow the text that's bounded above and below by a blank
line. You can also dynamically have this done as you type by turning on
the autoformat feature (Shift-Ctrl-F or Utilitiesmenu/autoformat).
Again, this feature will see a paragraph as text bounded above and below
by a blank line. This will prevent you from making lists and short lines
etc. You can however toggle this feature off as needed when you wish to
type lists.

TB!'s editor is strange in fundamental behaviour when compared to most
other editors out there. But then, these fundamental changes are part
and parcel of its overall power. Most will either have a love or hate
relationship. I hope that you'll explore the editors capabilities before
drawing your overall conclusion.
