I usually either quote the entire message and delete the unwanted parts as I type (this is if I want more of the message quoted than not), or I select the smallest portion of the message I want and then hit F4. I then trim the rest as I type. I find backing and forthing from window to window to transfer clippings to be more tedious. With the initials of the sender of the email the quote stems G from and with the cursor positioned two lines under the just inserted G quote so that I can start typing right away. Sounds great except for the part about the cursor being positioned two lines below. That's a user specific need and a pre-emptive one. G BTW: Is there a way to get the attributes *bold* /italic/ and G _underlined_ showed in TB? Is this on the wish list? While composing ... no. When reading mail, yes ... soon. The RTF viewer that's still in beta (I think ... it's been so long ;-)) supports this. G That's not a problem: The quote is always inserted in the upper G editor window, meaning the one that was used most recently. If a user G wants to quote in another window, he has to bring it up and then G select the block to quote, but in most times this is not the case as G you want to quote in the editor window you are just working at. Ok. G By the quoting system I described above: You have the message you G want to quote from on top, mark the block and press Q (or whatever G button) to have this text inserted as quote in the actual editor G window. The Bat can tell the source, because it is the message I just G marked a block in. This would be good. I've wished for this but wonder how much it would take to implement such a feature. G Okay, but this forces me do leave a blank line between each paragraph. G What's the use of that? I couldn't write a message like this here... Re: Attachment icons
@ 17:35:52 -0500 [ Wed, 13 Mar 2002], David Denton [DD] contributed this to our collective wisdom: ... DD In the attachment pane of the main TB! screen, I see only icons for DD each attachment. Most often, I am unable to see the entire file name DD or the extension unless I click on the particular attachment icon, I usually see the full filename here. The visibility of the full filename depends on your icon spacing setting in explorer. Try setting your icon spacing to a larger figure, exit and restart TB! and you'll see what I mean. I have my icon spacing setting in explorer set to 100. DD and there is no indication of how large any attachment is. I find DD this extremely frustrating, especially with messages containing DD multiple attachments. It would be useful, I agree, to know the attachment sizes. Something for the wish list. DD I am wondering if there is a way to configure The Bat! so that the DD attachments shows in a list view so that the entire name and DD extension can be seen and the size. For incoming messages? Not that I know of. DD If not, is something that has been corrected in the TB! Beta? You will have to make Ritlabs know what you wish. I suggest sending a formal wish message to Ritlabs. -- __ Allie C Martin (_ List Moderator and fellow end user __) TB! v1.54 Beta/47 Windows XP 5.1.2600 PGPKey: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?Subject=PGPPubKey1 ¯¯ -- Archives : http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com Moderators : mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] TBTech List: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Latest Vers: 1.53d FAQ: http://faq.thebat.dutaint.com

ACM I haven't had this problem to deal with. I usually either quote the ACM entire message and delete the unwanted parts as I type There are two main types of quoting: 1) Quoting (almost) the whole message and then deleting the parts you don't want and 2) quoting only WHAT you want and WHEN you want it. Nowadays most people use the former, simply because most email programs don't offer a convenient way for the latter. ACM I find backing and forthing from window to window to transfer ACM clippings to be more tedious. Moving the cursor through the complete quote, mark the unwanted parts and delete them is cumbersome, too. If the original text part of the editor window was resizeable (constantly) and the cursor jumped to the editor part once you hit the shortcut for Quote, things would be different. ACM Sounds great except for the part about the cursor being positioned two ACM lines below. That's a user specific need and a pre-emptive one. Okay, let's forget about the LF, hitting Enter once or twice before starting to type is acceptable. ACM While composing ... no. For sure not, that would be sick. ACM When reading mail, yes ... soon. The RTF viewer ACM that's still in beta (I think ... it's been so long ;-)) supports this. I am using Beta46 and I can't see it with the RTF viewer. ACM I've wished for this but wonder how much it would ACM take to implement such a feature. I don't think it would take that much. Defnitely less work than the new Windows XP look. 'Nother Template Idea
Hello, Bat fans, I have another idea for a template, but I am not sure if this is possible: I have a lot of ebay auctions going on right now. Apart from sending an auto-reply to the highest bidder (I figured that one out, thanks to you) I would like to extract the following information from the endofauction notices by eBay and save them in a separate text file: Article - Highest Bid - Email address of highest bidder - Mail address of highest bidder. So at the end of the day I don't have to print out all the ebay notices but just this single external txt-file to have all the necessary information on paper - this should serve as some kind of daily or weekly report. Is it possible to extract this information and send it to a text file? Of course new entries will have to be added to this file which means that old entries should not be deleted. Newbie: Can I Flter Imported Sent Mail?
Hello all! I'm new to The Bat! and I'm really falling in love. I've migrated from Eudora and I have a question I can't seem to find an answer to. So, I thought I'd toss it out to you guys and see if you can steer me in the right direction. Eudora handles all accounts with the same inbox and sent folders. I have four accounts in The Bat! and I'd like to sort all the sent items I have to the appropriate account. I've tried various filters, but they all seem to apply to after you've received, or read the e-mail, etc. For example, I have all of my sent e-mails in the sent folder of my [EMAIL PROTECTED] account. What I'd like to do is filter all e-mail I sent from my [EMAIL PROTECTED] account (which has been imported from Eudora into the ashbygroup.com account) into the appropriate sent folder. The end result would be that all items sent from the ashbygroup.com account would be left the in sent folder of ashbygroup.com and all the e-mail sent from the npug.org account would reside in the npug.org sent items account. Everything works fine for new mail, this only applies to the sent items I imported from Eudora. Thanks in advance! Michael T. Anyone with large amounts of mail in The bat?
Hi, I'm thinking of shifting from Eudora to The Bat, mostly because of the problems it has with large mailboxes, and also because I can't turn off display of HTML messages ( requested images etc). Currently my Eudora directory is about 100MB, which I think is roughly 100k messages. I only get about 100/day, but I don't want to delete them (I fairly regularly search the archive). Incoming mail from about 8 accounts is filtered into a hierarchy of folders, roughly 50 with a tree depth of about 3. Max messages in one folder is about 30k. These figures are a bit approximate because currently I have a 30MB zip file of archived messages that I had to remove to keep Eudora usable. How useful it the bat in this situation? Is it likely to crash/ become unstable/ slow waaay down or corrupt its mailboxes? Or anything else bad ... Especially, has anyone had problems with mysteriously losing mail messages? My customers get quite upset when support message leak out of sight. Like Michael, Ill be wanting to have all messages in one hierarchy, not one per POP/IMAP connection, so I'm glad that's possible. I assume The Bat is smart enough to select the account to reply with based on the message header rather than the folder the message happens to be in? Currently I have The Bat installed and I've imported most of my messages, but it doesn't seem to have picked up my filters, so it'll be a while before I can really teel if it works as I want it to.
