Well, you asked about VF-filtering on something in a msg (header).

At the moment, I don't understand what you mean with 'Sender filer'

Sorry, that was a rhetorical question based on my (false) assumption
that Message Source is where the message originated. If that was the

Sender. Your previous reply answered my query perfectly - many

Hi Richard,

I just sent a test message from my wife's address, and even that was
filtered into the junk folder. I therefore deleted and re-installed
the plugin, but it makes no difference. Anyone else having this
 problem?

I, for one, now have everything being filtered to the junk folder - it's my new
inbox. I wonder if, like me, nothing filtered *at all* before you upgraded to the Bat
V2.10 and BayesIT V0.5.

re-enlisting G-mane

2004-04-18 Thread Ochrid

Hello all,

I have been subscribing to TBUDL for quite a while
now, and communicated through mail. The mail got
too bulky - even the digests - so I gave up and
only occasionally glanced and the message on-line.

G-mane is a big improvement, but I have lost the
instructions as to how to be allowed to post
there.

I tried posting, but my message never appeared.
I guess this is because the e-mail address my
newsreader shows is (for obvious reasons!) not my
main address, the one I used to subscribe to
TBUDL.

I do not want to use my main e-mail address on
usenet, so do I subscribe again to TBUDL, this
time with the email address used for newsgroups?

I think the explaining is on your part :) Or maybe we're not receiving
the same amount or type of spam ? Before Bayesit (just a month or two
ago in my case) I was constantly trying to keep up with spam, adding
strings to my spam filter as best I could. Only to find it an
impossible and very tedious battle against new permutations of spam.

Maybe you've got some tips you'd like to share about how to set up a
filter that needs little or no maintenance?

Bayesit has saved me from thinking about it. I didn't even believe it
would work, but it came in TB 2.04 and seemed to kill most spam
without my doing anything. I receive 30 spam mails pr. day on average.

I agree with this, I edit the default templates each time I create a new
account. With variables that can get local info, I practically use a global
template that is the same for each account. I also have many config settings
that are the same on each account. Pretty much the only differences end up
being individual mail transport stuff.

Looking at Agent (newsgroup program by Forte) they have a default properties
setting and then each group gets a properties setting with a check box that says
override default. This lets all the groups be the same until I go in and
change the individual ones.

Synchronize?

The laptop will go tomorrow, and I've been trying to

working.

(*does* synchronize work between two different versions of

None of the new messages from the laptop show up on the
desktop account, even though something appears to be
happening.

I did step one on the desktop, step two on the laptop, and
step three on the desktop (according to instructions I found
when doing an archive search.

Am I missing an important step, or am I going about it all

Should I just copy the whole mail folder over to the desktop

this is an info from BayesIt developer:

Remark: parameter regarding threshold is used as multiplier for non-spam base

Usually it is set to 1.5 or 2. If it is set to 0 which may happens during
