Backup/Restore for suspected corrupt account
Hello TBUDLers, Not so long ago (as I remember it) there was a discussion about recovering a corrupted mail account by means of renames and restores but I cannot, for the life of me, locate it in the archives. I have an account (my oldest one) which had been playing up on compresses and the like so not so long ago I 'fixed' it. At which point about 3/4 of the mail in it disappeared! I still have old backups around that pre-date that occurrence so would like to attempt to reconstruct the account from that, plus the stuff that remains from (and of course that which is newer than) the disaster. I'm still not convinced the account is in perfect order, so a create from scratch would be ideal. I've just done a full backup of the account as it stands tonight. Can someone either point me to the right spot in the archives or suggest the best sequence of steps? BTW, am using 2.1 and the old backup will be an earlier version (I don't know which, but suspect 2.0 or better). -- Cheers, Allister Current version is 2.10.01 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Dear Marten, MG OK - so I download that (three times) and it won't unzip. Did the same an hour ago, no problem. It's a rar archive. Don't know what you're using. In my case Total Commander did the job. Unless you're really experiencing some type of data corruption when downloading, you might want to try WinRAR (http://www.rarlab.com/) - they have a trial version that might do the job. -- Regards Johnny Skaaning _ Using The Bat! 2.10.01 on Windows XP Service Pack 1 and BayesIt! 0.5.3 Current version is 2.10.01 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Strange preview pane behavior
Hi all, Upgraded to 2.10 the other day and have noticed some different behaviour while scrolling through long messages in the preview pane. I can move the mouse over the folders pane, message list pane or preview pane without the necessity of physically selecting any of the panes. The focus for scrolling works perfectly. There's no need to select the window by clicking it, selecting a message or a folder prior to scrolling. That's the same as the previous version. Here is where the behaviour has changed. In all other versions (at least the ones I've had), I could scroll through a long message without having it physically selected (i.e. clicking inside of it first). If I came across a link I wanted to open or some text I wanted to select, I just pointed and clicked. Worked great. That doesn't work anymore. I can still scroll without physically selecting the message. But if I attempt to click a link or select some text, the message in that window moves back up to the beginning of the message and text is selected from the point where I tried to click in the message back up to the bottom line that's now displayed in the preview pane. For example, if 10 lines display at a time in the preview pane and I scroll down a few screens and then try to click on a link that is on line 40, the message scrolls itself back up so the first 10 lines are displayed again and the lines from 10 to 40 are selected. If I physically select the preview pane by clicking inside of it prior to scrolling, I can then select text or click a link as normal. Is anyone else experiencing this? Am I missing some setting somewhere that changed when I upgraded? -- Regards, Terry Using The Bat! v2.10 on Windows XP 5.1 Build 2600 Service Pack 1 Current version is 2.10.01 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

This is particularly annoying when I'm updating a website (15-20 changes) based on information in a long message. Hi Terry, [Selecting text / clicking links in the preview pane when it hasn't been selected previously] T Is anyone else experiencing this? Am I missing some setting somewhere T that changed when I upgraded? I can't help you. But I can say that I can't confirm your observation. To make sure I understood you right: Without selecting the preview pane I scrolled a long message down to previously hidden lines (with the mouse scroll wheel). I then attempted to select a couple of lines of text. I also tried clicking a link down there and repeated this experiment on several long messages that were too long to display in their entirity in the preview pane. The result is not what you describe, but rather what you'd expect: the text gets selected / link followed without any movement of the cursor position in the preview pane.

List of Addresses into AB
This question was answered some time ago, but I can find the answer neither in my own databases nor in the archives. How can one move a list of e-mail addresses into the AB? I have several last names in one column of 1-2-3 spreadsheet, first names in another column, and e-mail addresses in another column. I'd like to make them all individual entries in one contact group. -- JN Current version is 2.10.01 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

I'd like to make them all individual entries in one contact group. OK: 1 Delete all other columns from spreadsheet - retaining first name column, last name column and email address column. 2 Place the columns in this order: first name, last name, email address. 4 Add a column between the first name and the last name columns with the same set of obscure characters in every cell - say 8fvw 5 Export as a CSV file. If you have the option to export with quotes around the cell contents then do so. 6 Open CSV file in a text editor. 7 Add a first line, if the export didn't do so, that says: name, email 8 Find and replace the following: ,8fvw, with a space character - I can't illustrate that here. 9 So now you should have a file that looks like this: name, address John Bloggs,[EMAIL PROTECTED] Another Name,[EMAIL PROTECTED] etc etc. 10 Save this file. 11 Open TB Address Book. 12 Right click on the address collection and create a new folder, give it a name and a handle. Should now have a blank group list. 12a Keep it open and go to FileImportFrom comma-seaprated (plain text) 14 Import it and you get the options as to what to translate the two fields of each record to - name to name and email to email I guess. 15 Hit OK and it should happen. Alternatively send me the exported spreadsheet (CSV preferably) an I'll do all that for you and all you have to do is the import bit! Sorting sub-folders alphabetically?
I am just introducing my wife to The Bat! - generally successfully... One wish she has is to keep sub-folders in alphabetical order. I know how to reorder them by drag and drop, or by keyboard shortcuts to move them one at a time, but ideally she would like to be able to create a new sub-folder and have it appear magically in the right alphabetical place in the list.
