Go in the IMAP account properties, navigate to the 'Mail Management'
options and ensure that the you enable the options under
'Automatically connect to the server' 'at startup', 'For managing
folders', 'When account is selected', and 'By any command'.

I did that; and still nothing happens.

Clicking on each folder should show their content, since selecting
each folder will lead to a header synchronisation provided the
connection with the server has been successfully established.

I don't see message listings. I noticed that under Manage IMAP Folders,
the Drafts, Sent Items and Trash folders seem to be indented under
Inbox. On my PC, the folders are named Outbox, Sent Mail and Trash; and
they are at the same level as the Inbox. Could this be the problem?

If you're not seeing the folder's content then it may be a problem
 with TB! and your server.

When I click on Get new mail (or Connect to Server), I get the
Connection Center; but no activity, no messsages, no downloading.
Then it time out. [I logged onto its webmail; and there are a few
 messages there.]

In Manage IMAP Folders, for the Inbox, I have a check mark in
 Subscribe; and do not synchronize.

Even if 'do not synchronize' is ticked, selecting the Inbox will still
lead to a header sync. The synchronizing options there are for
unattended, automatic syncs without the folder being selected.

Go back to the Mail Management options in the IMAP account properties
and for the Predefined folders, uncheck all of them. This will make the
Outbox, Sent mail and Trash local. When finished, exit and restart TB!.
Select the Inbox and see what happens.

If still nothing happens, I draw a blank. I don't know why. I'd try
another client just to be sure you can access the account via IMAP.

Hello Michael,

The error message I get is:
SEND - Message has not been sent. Server reply - Invalid recipient:
 [EMAIL PROTECTED]
The message never leaves The Bat. It remains in the Outbox.

Any ideas on how I can address this problem?

It certainly looks like it is the destination server that is rejecting
that address as invalid or unknown.

Try this:

Create a text file called protocol.ini (without the quotes, of course)
with three lines:

[SMTP]
logging=1
log=smtp.trace

And place this file in the account's home directory.

Try sending a short message to the problem address. A detailed log file
of the transaction named smtp.trace will be created at the account's
home directory.

Delete the 'protocol.ini' file or at least set logging=0.

Send me the 'smtp.trace file if you wish or copy its contents and paste
them in a message to this list so we can take a look.

Hello Michael,

 201-2131-118-104-20050224) ready Tue, 29 Mar 2005 07:37:32 -0500

I don't exactly know how your Cox mail service works. You are connecting
to 'smarthost.coxmail.com' which I understand is a 'generic' name for a
pool of mail servers and the actual server that answered you (you
actually connected to) this time was 'lakecmmtar04.coxmail.com'

 [07:37:09] C: MAIL FROM:[EMAIL PROTECTED] SIZE=607
[07:37:09] S: 250 Sender [EMAIL PROTECTED] and extensions (SIZE=607) Ok
 [07:37:09] C: RCPT TO:[EMAIL PROTECTED]
 [07:37:09] S: 550 Invalid recipient: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

See the last line above. It is the server (lakecmmtar04.coxmail.com) who
is saying that 'marc' in an invalid recipient for domain
'briggsprovidence.com'. So there is no problem with The Bat!

The confusing thing here is that another address within the e-mail
domain works fine. Is there any logic to this?

Of course there is logic. If you try to send me a message to
'[EMAIL PROTECTED]' it will be accepted, but if you send one to
'[EMAIL PROTECTED]' it will be rejected with the same 550 code because
'marc' is not a know user (and therefore not a valid recipient) in
'mydomain.com'.

If as you say [EMAIL PROTECTED] is a valid e-mail address, I
think you should call your Cox mail service support. It is certainly not
a problem with The Bat! at all.

BayesIt blocking mail import

2005-03-29 Thread Scott Frederick
Hello TBUDL,

I just clean installed everything, and imported my installation
from a backup, but now BayesIt is giving me trouble.

Sometimes all my messages will download but not be imported,
then the connection centre just hangs. If I remove the plugin
everything works fine (except for the spam).

I keep my Mail directory on a different drive from the
installation directory and I have tried running the plugin from
both locations but there was no difference.

I am running AVG Free v7.

 Any ideas?

I have this problem (at least it sounds like the problem I have) about
once a week or so. It is not you Anti-virus, I use eTrust ... and
have Zone Alarm Pro FWIW.

If I delete the BayesIt plug-in (from options/preferences/add-ins only
... I don't delete the files or the trained data), close TB, start TB
again, add BayesIt back in ... that usually fixes it for me, I can
then download again and things work normally.

Occasionally, that won't work and I have to do one extra step. After
I have deleted BayesIt, I have to connect and get mail once. After
that I can re-add BayesIt and it will work fine for a while again.

I am not sure if the problem is triggered by a certain email message
format or not. But my *guess* is that it has something to do with a
miss-formed message header of some sort.

To make a long story shorter, I suspect that there is a blacklist
going on here. My current ISP (Cox) says that it's being kicked back
because the mail server IP address is on an international list of
spammers. There does seem to be a listing on some of the spam listers
(for the hosting domain, not the actual address I'm trying to send).

I ended up switching my SMTP server over to Earthlink since I have an
account there. Once I changed it over it worked fine. Now it's someone
else's problem.
