Hello Roelof,

Thanks a lot for that really interesting look into your bat world ;-)

There's also the possibility to use the macro %Comment=%FolderName%-
This inserts the name of the current folder into the Comments header,
therefore enabling you to filter on that header.

I chose this solution. It works fine for my specific problem! And the
folder name is nothing that anybody would hate me for ;-)

2006-02-17 Thread Martin Schuster
Hello Marten,

Again my English...sorry if I was not precise enough.

I would like to find a solution (quicktemplate, filter, combination of
the two, whatever) to save my reply to a message in the same folder
again. Can anyone please point me to that thread? Thanks!

Set up a filter for that account.
 Account Sorting Office/Filters
 Outgoing Mail
Header contains @ (which will select every message going out)
Actions move to the folder [then select the folder]
Options probably the top checkbox ticked only and top radio button
 checked

That would move *any* message I send with this account to the
specified folder, right? That's not what I want. Example:

I have posted a job offer on a mailing list, using a special mail
alias, let's say [EMAIL PROTECTED] that forwards mail to my
regular account. It's easy to filter all incoming messages to
[EMAIL PROTECTED] into a folder, say job offers.

Now when I answer one of these emails (using my regular mail account,
not that special address), I want my answer to be stored into the
folder job offers. All other emails I send from this account should
*not* be affected by this rule. So my plan was to setup a reply
template for that folder triggering an outgoing filter that moves my
message there. I just can't find the macro to trigger a filter...

Roelof I can't imagine though that it's not possible to tell Norton to keep

Hi,

When I mentioned my health problems and remembering thing as well as
having problems learning new complex processes I sometimes write things that
don't
make sense. Example forum file. What I meant to say was simply
folder as in I wanted to put all my mail from the TBudl forum into a
folder but I couldn't articulate that at the time I wrote the message.
Today is a better day and I remembered what I was trying to say.

Norton Antis has a allowed list and a blocked list. When I get mail

with where you set up rules for specific sets of e-mail messages,
however I am not sure how to coordinate that with TB! but I am sure I
will eventually figure it out TB! is not that intuitive and I
only wish I still remembered my Perl programing and scripting
languages which would make setting this program up a lot easier.

Address AutoComplete Option Location

2006-02-17 Thread Julian Beach (Lists)
Hello TB! Users,

Can anyone tell me where the Address AutoComplete option for the
Message Window now hides. It used to appear under
Options|Preferences|System, but it does not any longer. The latest
version appears to have reset my original settings (Addressboook only)
and I want to set it back.

On the subject of this, the Autocomplete drop down list does not seem
to work very intuitively. In most applications I can select the item I
want by using the down arrow key to select the item I want and then
use [TAB] to select it. In TB! this moves onto the next field (CC: in
my case) without selecting the highlighted field. This has resulted in
a few emails that have gone to the wrong person recently. Is just me,
or do others feel that the process if selecting items does not follow
Windows conventions?

MS I would like to find a solution (quicktemplate, filter, combination of

MS again. Can anyone please point me to that thread? Thanks!

In order to save messages in the folder they were created, you need to
identify that folder in your message. That can be done with the from
address, the to address, both, the subject, a string in your message
body or a custom made header. Here are some examples from my daily
use:

I'm using several aliases in my account, messages to certain aliases
get filtered into their own folder. Those folders have that alias set
in the folder identity, so messages created in those folders can be
identified by the from header. Those are easy to filter.

To complicate my own setting, I've got one address for all tb-lists (I
used to have an address per list, but that had some disadvantages when
I became moderator), nevertheless I want all messages sent to tbudl in
one folder (in this case not the same folder my received messages
arrive, because that would give me duplicates, but the idea is the
same), therefore I filter on the to address.

All my relatives' addresses are stored in my AB group 'familie', all
incoming messages with a recipient from that AB group get filtered
into my relatives folder. All my outgoing messages with all recipients
being a part of that AB group get filtered into the same folder.

I'm running my own mailserver, some of the users belong to different
AB groups: relatives, neighbours, collegues. All belong to my AB group
'local users' but I don't use that to filter their messages as most of
our common mail has nothing to do with the fact that they collect
their mail on my server. When I'm sending mail to them on the server
subject, that's done with a mass mailing because I like the semi
personal style. However, my local mass mailing template uses this
macro: %Comment=Local announcement%- and a matching filter enables
me to filter those messages in the proper folder.

There's also the possibility to use the macro %Comment=%FolderName%-
This inserts the name of the current folder into the Comments header,
therefore enabling you to filter on that header. This won't help you
when you've got multiple folders with the same name, like:
TB\TBUDL\Sent
TB\TBOT\Sent
TB\TBBETA\Sent
As all of these folders will be called 'Sent' by this macro.

I don't use the %FolderName construct myself, as I'm using a
functional system in stead of an origin based system, but it should do
just fine.
There's just one slight problem with this. You have to be careful with
your folder names. A folder called 'Clueless Silly Twits' will do just
fine on your local system, but it gets embarrassing when you send that
along in the comments header. ;-)

Hopefully this sets you on the track you were looking for.
