 to work ok.

Have you tried Spampal? Working quite well for me. And not a lot to
configure in the mail program, very easy. Disadvantage is that it
takes a while when a mail comes in that SpamPal cannot identify. It
takes upto 20 seconds until it has asked all those online Spam lists.

Transfer from ME to XP

2003-01-16 Thread Heiko Kuschel
Hallo tbudl,

I'm going to install WinXP next week or so. It will be a fresh
install, so I'll have to install all programs again. Oh my... :-(

Waht about TB? I will backup the whole folder, install TB anew, and
copy everything from the old folder back to where it belongs. This
should save all preferences etc.

Am I right? Or is there a better way to do it?

TIA

When you do the backup you will find you can select each account,

counting the chars in the subject...

2003-01-14 Thread Heiko Kuschel
Hallo tbudl,

since this program has so many options... maybe there's a way to do
this:

I'm sending SMS as Email regularly. (I send an Email to a server, and
this is sent to a cellphone as SMS) The text is in the subject field,
and I never know how many chars are left and where the text will be
cut off.

Maybe there's a way to count the chars in the subject and put the
result in the body of the mail?
Just asking, maybe someone has got an idea...

TIA

You should adjust your template for this list, as it is supposed to be in

I'll do that too when I have time. I'm in 14 different MLs ATM, so

Pictures

still configuring this new program... ;-)

I found out that I can add a picture of every person in the address
book. Thats fine. :-))
In my old mail program, YAM, this picture was shown with every mail
from that sender, in the right part of the header lines (theres always
some space there anyway...)
It seems that with TB, I have to press Shift-Ctrl-O to get the
picture. Or is there a way to show it as default, like in YAM?

If not, I´ll have to find out how to request a new feature... ;-)

BTW How do you get that English apostrophe (in it´s etc) on a German PC keyboard?!?
It was

The _English_ apostroph is ' (Shift+# on German keyboard), the
accent you were typing is a bad replacement.

Thanks to all who replied; yes I found it there. I know that the other

No, there isn't, and hopefully won't be. Just my opinion. Will only
 cost resources.

It would only be a handful of lines of code to include this option. I
 wouldn't call that bloat.

And if you mean online resources: The picture would be stored on your
HD, no need to transfer it all the time.
A 10 year old Amiga was able to do that without problems, so it
should't be a problem for modern PCs at all.

new, unread and read messages?

2002-12-16 Thread Heiko Kuschel
Hallo there for the first time,

my name is Heiko Kuschel.
I started using The Bat on Saturday, but I have a lot of experience
with mailing etc. I´ve used YAM (Amiga) for the last 5 years, and it´s
quite similar to The Bat!

There´s one feature I´m really missing ATM.
YAM not only shows me read and unread messages, but also new
messages, that means: Messages that were collected since I last
started the program and that were not yet read. I´m subscribed in a
lot of mailing lists where I don´t read all the mails, so it´s
important so see the new ones - well, if not important, then say
convenient. :-)
(Yes I can order them by date, but nevertheless...)

I got an idea that you can probably do this with these colour groups
and some intelligent filtering.
I can do the first part no prob: Set all incoming mails to the colour
group new. Is there a way to define a filter that sets all messages
back to normal either when starting or leaving the program? (Even
better, also when I read a message?) That should do it. :-)

Or maybe you have a better idea.

Thanks in advance.

The first filter you create is under Incoming. Then create a new
filter under Read. Under the Advanced tab, set the
color group to the same one you have defined for new incoming
messages. Under the Action tab, change the color group to another
 color or to None.

Thanks, that will change it for messages that I have read.
But what about unread new messages when I leave The Bat!?
