Send To and TB

2006-10-31 Thread Larry Wing
I've had repeated problems with Send To when trying to send a Word doc
via email. When I click Send To TB opens but there is no compose
window and more often than not TB and Word just hang up.

Anyone have any ideas on how to fix?

Thanks,
Larry

I can second the positive feedback on AntispamSniper. I've been using
it since v1 was announced and bought a license a few weeks later. Few
spams get by it and even fewer false positives.

I tried the BayesIt and Bayes Filter plugin but had problems with

My 2 cents worth.

Marking read after date

2006-05-28 Thread Larry Wing
We have a folder for Forwards that I would like to limit.
Currently, my wife is the only one who looks at them - occassionally -
and never remembers to mark read so they are not deleted according to
number of days to keep them.

Since the number of days option only works on read messages is there a
way to mark messages read after a certain number of days so they will
be deleted? Or just delete even if not marked as read?

PK Would appreciate any suggestion where is my problem, or how to

PK Or should I switch to Bayes Filter Plugin by Achim Winkler, is this

PK Thank you in advance

I've used Bayesit with some success after training. While I found it
did filter some, it wasn't what I was used to (K9). I've also used
Bayes Filter but had to change because of problems with TB being
default email. When clicking on a mailto TB would open several Edit
windows. Never could get that fixed.

I'm using AntispamSniper on my notebook and trialing on my desktop. It
has a better success rate after some training. It's not free but but
seems to be doing a better job.

Reply wrapping

2006-03-09 Thread Larry Wing
I use Plain Text (windows) for Replies to email, as well as viewing text emails.

When I reply using Plain Text (Windows) occasionally a line will not have the
citation at the beginning. I assume it has to do with the sender's email but
is there a way to highlight the text and reformat with citation?

My previous email client had a feature that I could highlight text and reformat
and it would insert citations at the beginning of the line. I hope TheBat can
do the same, but haven't found a command to do it.

I don't have the missing citation with Micro plain text, but I prefer Windows
proportional fonts.

Need to upgrade?

2006-03-06 Thread Larry Wing
Hi,

I'm relatively new to TB! and have a question about upgrading version releases.

I'm currently running 3.65.03 Home and haven't had any major problems. I use
POP3 only and no IMAP. For my home use I don't see any real practical advantage
to changing to Pro version.

I see a 3.7 (presumably includes Home version) is out but I don't see any new
features nor addressing any bugs I've experienced.

Generally I upgrade my software when there are known issues or new features
added and occasionally, just because it's there, but with TB I don't know if
that's necessarily the best plan.

Any thoughts and recommendations? Upgrade at each release or stay with what's
working?

Thanks,
Larry

filter problem

2000-06-13 Thread Larry Barrett

Greetings,

My problem is one that I have had to happen on several different
occasions. I have tried, in vain, to discover what I am doing wrong.
One example is the following:

I received an e-mail from a friend. I right clicked on it - went to
specials, then to create filters. Everything is done as I have done
for many other addresses. It seems that there are *some* that simply
will *not* go to the folder I requested. It always goes to the Inbox.
I have checked my filter setup and the address to make sure they are
correct - and all appears to be normal - just a simple "direct to x
folder". Does anyone have any idea what I might be doing wrong? The
procedure that I have described, I do with most of my correspondence -
and it works! It's just that I will occasionally have an address that
does not seem to respond to my filter setup. If were a difficult
setup, I would suspect that I fouled up somewhere, but it really seems
quite simple - but even so, it always goes to the Inbox instead of the
folder I designated.

I would certainly be grateful for any suggestions. I might add that I
use this same filter pattern in another e-mail client - and it works.
It also works with The Bat! *most* of the time. My question is - why
the inconsistency?

2000-05-17 Thread Larry Z. Daily

Hello all,

I'm evaluating The Bat as a possible replacement for my current IMAP4
client. I've got a number of questions that I can't find the answers
to in the documentation and was wondering if you could help me with
them. So, here goes:

1. Our mail system treats newsgroups and bulletin boards as IMAP
mailboxes. There are a number of these that I subscribe to and they
show up in my other email client. They only show up in the Bat,
though, if there's a new message in them. Is there any way to get the
Bat to display all my subscribed mailboxes?

2. While on the subject, is there any way within the Bat to subscribe
or unsubscribe to mailboxes?

TIA

Printing problem

2000-05-09 Thread Larry Barrett

Greetings,

I have noticed lately that there are times when certain messages
simply will not print. Today, for example, I received two different
messages within my "family" folder. When I clicked "print" on one - it
printed - when I clicked on the other - nothing! This has happened to
me on a least three or four other occasions. Is there something I
should know? Has anyone else ever had this problem?

Thank you.

Greetings again,

In regards to my "problem" with printing - I still could not get the
message to print - so I dragged it to my Inbox and it printed. I then
dragged it back to its original folder and it printed! Interesting,
huh?

ive away more prospective

Well, I personally can't grow immune to such foolishness. When I finish
this, I will un-subscribe for good. If Mr. Lamb's kind of action is
"normal" behavior for you, it certainly isn't for me. I still think
it's a shame that a great list has been ruined by one person. For
your information, more people than you can imagine *have* left this
list because of him.

Re[2]: filtering problem

1999-11-10 Thread Larry Barrett

Hello Ali,

Wednesday, November 10, 1999, 9:57:47 AM, you wrote:

AM My only suggestion would be to change the location from
AM 'recipient' to 'Kludges' and that would surely work. That's a

AM has [EMAIL PROTECTED] appearing anywhere in the headers.

Thank you for your help. Your suggestion at least helped me to
discover my own stupidity. When I tried "kludges", and *that* didn't
work, I came to the conclusion that I must be the culprit! I
discovered that I had programmed another filter with [EMAIL PROTECTED]
which came early on my list - therefore, since both [EMAIL PROTECTED]
[EMAIL PROTECTED] were both in the header, the filter caught the
[EMAIL PROTECTED] and put it where I had programmed. One point for The
Bat! - zero for me! Thanks again.

filtering problem

1999-11-09 Thread Larry Barrett

Hello All,

Although my regular e-mail address is [EMAIL PROTECTED], I am able to
have several pseudo e-mail addresses that *appear* to be a USA
address, but loop back and arrive at my server here in Brazil. One of
them that I use is, [EMAIL PROTECTED] In other words, when I send
a message to, [EMAIL PROTECTED], it ends up here in Brazil at my
real address, [EMAIL PROTECTED] My question (or problem) is the
following: How can I get the filter to put it into a certain folder.
For example, I made a filter called - Tim. I then made a filter that
goes like this - Move message to folder: Family/Tim, - Filtering
Strings: [EMAIL PROTECTED], Location: Recipient, Presence: Yes.

I tried this with another e-mail client and it worked. In other
words, it ended up in the "Tim" folder. With the Bat, I can't get it
to filter to that folder. I even tried the Location - "everywhere",
but it still doesn't filter to the "Tim" folder. Obviously, I'm not
doing something right.

Here is how the header looks. Perhaps that will give you an idea of
the route the message is taking.

Return-Path: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

1999-10-16 Thread Larry Barrett

Greetings,

I just finished composing a message and I miss a certain function that
I had come to really appreciate. When I highlight a word or phrase and
tried to drag it to another place in the paragraph, it doesn't budge!
Am I not doing something right - or does that not work with TB?

I haven't used this list much, so if it was mentioned, I wouldn't have
known.

'network' settings

1999-01-02 Thread Larry

TBUDL,

  I'm a new user...installed the Bat 3 days ago. I'm having
configuration problems. I'm receiving mail just fine, but mail that
I send doesn't appear to make it's way to recipient.??? I have a
PII, 350, Win98...I THINK that my problem might be associated with
Network and Administration settings. I'm unclear about how I should
set up my "Select Machine Mode". I have a single PC with TCP/IP
dial-up to an ISP for internet connection, etc. I have Machine Mode
set to act as Workstation with TCP/IP. I spoke with tech service at
my ISP this morning...they asked me to send an e-mail to one of
them, and responded that the mail had been received. However, I'm
thinking that the e-mail address I reached might, in some way, be
reachable because it is part of a LAN, which, as a user of their
server, includes me. I hope you understand...this is hard to put in
  words. Any advice?
  Thanks

mail glitch?

1999-01-02 Thread Larry

TBUDL,

I've configured the Bat to the best of my ability, and I continue to
have an odd problem. I've sent e-mail messages to 3 different
people, each of who uses a different ISP, and none have received my
message. I've called them on the phone, had them e-mail ME, I've
received their messages and IF I REPLY to their mail, they receive
my response. But I cannot initiate a message to them at the very
same address. ??? Only two messages, initiated by me, have arrived
at their intended destination...two messages to TBUDL. All other
mail I've sent today...probably 20 tests...have never arrived at the
place they were sent. What the heck could be wrong with my settings?
  Please try to help.
