The only idea I have is to find the Bat! exe file, right click it and choose
the option "Pin to Taskbar", if you have that option.

Thanks! I have my GMail (and all outside email) forwarded to Fastmail. The
problem is when I want to send from GMail in the Bat! because GMail insists on
less secure app status, and cancels the "off" status if I don't send in a
while. My ISP email is so inferior that I gave up on it years ago and I don't
use it at all.

I'm wondering whether there is a setting so that when the internet disconnects

I'm looking forward to the answer to that, as I had upgraded and asked what to

Glad you got that settled. Just commenting because Google also stops "insecure
apps", and one has to go to the Google account and choose the setting to allow
insecure apps. Fastmail allows creation of app passwords, as well.

Hi Mike,

Multiple processes means the software has multiple instances running at one
time, as shown in the task manager. Chrome browser does this. I don't really
understand why some programs are designed to do this. It won't affect your
handling of email, but usually means using huge amounts of memory. More about
this here:

Hello Bats,

Having used both Thunderbird and The Bat! back and forth, I am missing the
feature available in Thunderbird in The Bat! - which is to select text in an

The Bat! for so many reasons, like much lower memory usage, and also because
Thunderbird is soon to become multi-process like Chrome browser. I like one
process and low memory usage.

Is there a way to get that Search with Google function in The Bat! ? I didn't

I think the easiest way to do this is to have both IMAP accounts set up

As I understand it, the Image Download Manager does not delete
anything. It controls which images are allowed (or not) to display in
TB! Nothing is affected/allowed/disallowed when opened in Chrome or
otherwise outside of TB!

FYI - I looked up https://powerinbox.com/ and see it is to put marketing
in emails. Much like Live Intent, which MarketWatch uses.

Are you all aware of the image download manager? It is under Tools, and
is used to block unwanted garbage images that come in email. It is
harder to use than Thunderbird's, and I had a real problem with "Live
Intent" marketing used in newsletters such as from MarketWatch. It
would be a great thing if one could import rules from Thunderbird into
The Bat! POWERINBOX looks pretty bad; I can't stand being marketed and
tracked via emails, but I get a number of newsletters to keep informed
on things. Here's what The Bat!'s manager looks like - and I wonder
whether you will see that the source of POWERINBOX is allowed in yours.

I'm not sure we can add attachments, but maybe it would be okay to
upload your screenshot to a site like imgur.com and include the link to
your screenshot in the posting. Maybe someone can verify that this is okay.

Should I be worried that a different mail server is emailing me with my

Yes, I got that too. For a second there, I thought it wasn't legit, but
then saw that it seemed to be from the list. I assumed they made a

Jack, I assume you use 64 bit Windows version (Windows 10, am I right)?
Then I assume you use 64 bit version of TB! (am I right)?
If both are correct, than in my opinion you have to use 64 bit version
of AntispamSnipper.

I was using 32 bit version of TB! on my 64 bit Windows 10, and in that
case AntispamSnipper was in 32 bit version. I think, the 'bit' version
of AntispamSnipper should be linked with 'bit' version of TB!, not
operating system.

Hope that helps :)

Gene,
This issue came up in the past; this is what I found about it:

/Post by Tony Hoare/

Sorry for the delay...
I meant to empty the cache for the folder. Right Click on the folder,
IMAP-Specific tab, Clear Cache Now. The cache will be reloaded from
the server.
Ctrl-R on the folder should refresh the folder or virtual
folder. Alternatively, Right-Click, Refresh.
I did do those things without the wanted result, but finally managed
to get rid of that email. I looked in IMAP folder management and
found that the tbb file was 55 kb, and found that size file in App
Data. Deleted it, but kept it in Recycle Bin until I confirmed that I
didn't delete

the wrong file. That worked! Thanks for the suggestions.

Yes, change the password. If desktop computers, as opposed to mobile
devices, are involved, I'd run a Malwarebytes scan. I don't know what
one does when a mobile device is potentially infected, as I haven't had
that happen. I've been hacked before on AOL mail and changed the
password. As an aside, I was about to give up on using antivirus
software on our desktop computers, as they are invasive. Instead, I got
360 Total Security and am very satisfied.

The trouble might have to do with SPF which has been introduced for
1und1, gmx, web.de:

http://www.heise.de/newsticker/meldung/United-Internet-verschaerft-Spam-Bekaempfung-3225281.html
(German)

Up to now there are two options to be able to send mails via client
again:

1. Update TheBat to v.6.6 or higher. They work and cause no trouble. For
me it costs money for the upgrade: 19,95 Eur for the Home version, 29,95
Eur for the pro version (both plus taxes)

2. Use a different Email-client like Thunderbird which costs 0 Eur.

I have not decided yet what I will do. As I use Voyager, I'd need to
upgrade my pro version for almost 40 Euro which also *might* solve my
other issue with TheBat crashing with "TMail message released before its
use". OTOH if that crash does not get fixed, it would be a 40 Eur for a
single "bugfix", because the current version I have, 5.x, does all I
need and want concerning functionality. I think I will take a look at
Thunderbird and all its functions and plugins whether they can compete
with TheBat concerning filters, address books, postbox inspector and
templates.

And it would make a possible switch from Windows to Linux definitely
more attractive, or does Ritlabs plan to release a Mac or Linux version?

For those contemplating using a different email client, I'd suggest trying
out Opera's stand-alone client. I've found it preferable to Thunderbird,
in that it uses far fewer system resources, more in line with what The
Bat! uses. With IMAP, the only issue is that it will stop perpetual
syncing and it takes a couple of minutes to load the email content. I've
taken to using it due to The Bat! frequently crashing when opening certain
emails.

You can set up multiple email accounts in The Bat!, with one being
primary/default. When compose window is open, you can look at the
bottom border of the window and see the name of your default mail
account. Clicking that shows all configured mail accounts to choose
