Re: 154130 * how to create messages using the email account you so desire by having multiple accounts
Reply to message sent 09/25/2008, @ 10:49:24 (12:19 AM Locally) ~~~ Hello Monsell, is there anyway that i can create msgs using the same account that the email arrived to originally? Not exactly what you're asking for, but it may be of some help. I also have many different accounts and use address macros so that regardless of what account I happen to be in, when I send or respond to someone it automatically opens the editor with the correct account selected. Won't help you with replying to one-off type people, but with anyone that you have ongoing communication with it might. -- ò.ó Nick Danger [MUA: TB! Re: Problem with folders
Reply to message sent 11/28/2007, @ 15:24:09 (8:24 AM Locally) ~~~ Hello Laura, Ever since I installed the latest version of The Bat, I have quite a strange problem with it: all sub-folders of the inbox of one of my accounts keep disappearing. I just had a similar experience in that in starting Voyager I ended up with four folders corrupted, 2 inboxes and 2 subfolders in different accounts. I ran folder maintenance and it said it recovered the folders, but they had none of my messages in them. Plus, whatever messages were received into them during the session disappeared upon the next restart as the same folders ended up corrupted again. I had to delete the subfolders from within Voyager and then remake them, and since you can't delete an Inbox I had to physically delete those folders from my USB drive and have Voyager remake those on start up. That finally fixed the problem but I did lose all my previous messages that were in those folders. -- ò.ó Nick Danger [MUA: TB! There is an issue with using MAPI currently where if you try to send a message while TB! is checking mail the message will not go and sit endlessly in your outbox. File folders, USB drives, and other such things.
I've run across a bit of an oddball thing in running a home and work installation of TB! The amazing, mystical, and downright magical disappearing data trick
All right, this has been happening to me for years and I have just got to see if it's just me or anyone else has seen this phenomenon: Data entered into the memo field of the account properties just suddenly vanishes. It doesn't happen often, in fact it's rare enough that I have no idea just when it happens. I don't refer to that memo box often, but every now and then I'll go there to retrieve some data and the sucker is totally blank. Delete filter bug?
Can't believe I hadn't noticed this before but this seems wrong to me: I have a folder set up with a read filter to transfer a message to another folder when read. If there's a single message in there and I delete it, it's gone and doesn't get moved. If there's multiple messages, then even though you delete a message it still ends up in the filter to folder. If there's three messages (as an example) and as I read them I delete them, the first two still end up in the filtered to folder, the last message will actually be deleted. Does that seem like a normal way it should work to anyone? -- ò.ó Nick Danger Current version is 1.61 | Using TBUDL information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Carren suggested: Just a thought for you guys who don't like the flying beastie! Why don't you just set a sound alert for your different mail accounts? Nick added: I think I've mentioned this before, but another solution and one that I swear by is using good ol' PowerPro. I have different flags programmed in PowerPro that are called from various folders in TB!. I use different colored flags for each folder and make the flags small, I use 5 pixel squares. When mail drops in those folders the flag appears in the upper left side of the screen, of course you can put them anywhere. I program the flags so that with a right click they reset and take me to the virtual desktop where I keep TB! opened. Reading, Filtering, Practices
I was wondering what different methods people use for reading and filtering their mail, in particular for mail lists such as the ones for TB! The Bat! Contact Manager
I don't know if this has been brought up before but I've found a fairly nice way to use TB! as a contact manager, or at the very least a nice address/phone book. Since most the info you keep on people can be stored in TB!'s address book, which is pretty extensive, the problem for me was it was a pain in the butt working down through properties menus to get to the relevant info. It finally dawned on me to make a QT listing all the info I need at a moment's notice on anyone. Now, with TB!'s address book hooked to a global hotkey I can call it up from anywhere. Quick search to a name in a second, do a quick cntrl-enter to bring up a blank message addressed to them, type the QT name and viola! all the contact info appears nicely formatted. All in less time that it used to take me to open a contact manager and use it. Resent as I never saw the original show up. Sorry if this ends up being a dupe. This may be more of a Windows question, but since I'm not sure I'm starting off asking it here. I find the info that appears in the tool tips when you highlight an entry in the address book really handy for quickly retrieving a phone number or address. Is there anyway to edit what information is available to be shown, or is there anyway to prolong the duration the tool tip remains visible? Thanks for any help, or in pointing me where to go look for more Windows help if it's applicable. -- ò¸ó Nick Danger [MUA: 1.54 Beta/35] [OS: Windows ME 4] -- Archives : http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com Moderators : mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] TBTech List: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Latest Vers: 1.53d FAQ: http://faq.thebat.dutaint.com
Automated Dead Equine??
Mainly to Marck, but perhaps other moderators could answer... Do you automate via filters your dead horse notifications? It just hit me as I noticed what I think is the same nomenclature in the last couple of them for the Poco mail thread. It seems possible to have an inactive DH filter that once you deem a thread dead you could paste the pertinent part of the subject into the filter, activate it, and then automatically send out the DH notice for any future postings on this subject. Of course, this is just off the top of my head and not at all thought out so if I'm talking jibberish just ignore me. -- ò¸ó Nick Danger -- Archives : http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com Moderators : mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] TBTech List: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Latest Vers: 1.53d FAQ: http://faq.thebat.dutaint.com

Privacy Issue?
One more reason for me to like the way TB! handles HTML: http://www.havetheyreadityet.com While the idea is probably good, I still like the idea of controlling what people know about what I do. Re: Keyboard Shortcut
Subject: Keyboard Shortcut From: Allie C Martin ~~ Hello Allie, If the message being displayed has attachments, then the attachments display bar will count as another pane to tab through. Having a shortcut that takes you straight to the account tree would therefore be useful. My thoughts exactly. The reasoning behind it for me is I wanted to make a macro that automatically popped focus to the account tree and then paged up to the top when I hit my switch desktop button. That way every time I popped to my mail desktop TB! would be there and waiting queued up in my work directory and ready for business! But alas, it appears not to be possible as for the tab sequence to work I would always need to be in the same spot previously to exiting. Not a big problem by any stretch, just one more little way I was trying to use PP to become even more lazier! ;-) -- ò¸ó Nick Danger -- Archives : http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com Moderators : mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] TBTech List: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Latest Vers: 1.53d FAQ: http://faq.thebat.dutaint.com
Re: Keyboard Shortcut
Subject: Keyboard Shortcut From: Januk Aggarwal ~~ Hello Januk, Argh! This is TB, don't say not possible. ;-) It isn't exactly what you asked for, but there is an option to change focus to a predefined Account and/or Folder. Make a Windows shortcut for TB with the /FOCUS command-line parameter. That will take you to the folder of your choice when you run the shortcut, regardless of if TB is open or not. Works perfectly! My thanks to you yet again Januk! Re: Keyboard Shortcut
Subject: Keyboard Shortcut From: Thomas F ~~ Hello Thomas, ND Does anyone know if a keyboard shortcut exists to jump straight to the ND accounts window? Does crtl-shft-P do what you mean? No. I'm trying to shift focus to the accounts window with one keyboard entry. I've not seen such a entry in any of the shortcut listings I've seen, that's why I asked in case I missed it along the way somewhere. Re: Keyboard Shortcut
Subject: Keyboard Shortcut From: Thomas F ~~ Hello Thomas, ND No. I'm trying to shift focus to the accounts window with one ND keyboard entry. I've not seen such a entry in any of the shortcut ND listings I've seen, that's why I asked in case I missed it along the ND way somewhere. What is the accounts window? Do you mean TB's main window, or do you mean the account properties? Okay, maybe I'm not using the right nomenclature. I use the full-width preview pane split mode. The window I'm referring to is the one in the upper left. I want to be able to shift focus directly to that pane with a keystroke and not have to do multiple tabs to accomplish it. And... if that's not referred to as the accounts window, what would it be called? -- ò¸ó Nick Danger -- Archives : http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com Moderators : mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] TBTech List: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Latest Vers: 1.53d FAQ: http://faq.thebat.dutaint.com
Re: New Mail info
Subject: New Mail Info From: Browning, Karl Dated: Thu, 19 Jul 2001, 09:22:16 (8:22:16 AM local) ~~ Hello Karl, S When new mail arrives, The Bat!'s icon begins to flap its wings. Is S there a way to make it move only if new mail arrives to the Inbox S folder? Try to use MailTicker instead. Tip: you can move it mostly off the screen so only a small black sqaure will appear and will not crowd your screen. The problem with this is that the bat keeps on flapping. I believe that what is desired is for the icon to stop moving if the new messages are not in the mailbox, but have been filtered to a different folder. At the risk of sounding like I'm hawking a software product, I use PowerPro in combination with TB!'s ability to run an external program via filters to set up various colored flags to show on screen depending on which folder mail has arrived in. These flags can be whatever size you'd like, I keep mine very small and discrete. I have then programmed them to either take me to my virtual desktop where TB! resides with a right click, or simply reset the flag on a left click. Works wonderfully for me as a mail notification system. -- ò¸ó Nick Danger -- __ Archives : http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com Moderators : mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] TBTech List: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] You are subscribed as : archive@jab.org

Subject: Bat Cannot Download E-Mail From: Melissa Reese Dated: Thu, 28 Jun 2001, 12:36:41 (2:36:41 PM local) ~~ Alt-l treatment (I love Alt-l!). Speaking of the ol' Alt-L, has anyone ever specified whether it's a bug or just something that programming can't handle as to why when you use the mouse to move the cursor to the text in question Alt-L doesn't work until you moved the cursor via the keyboard? I'm asking because the ability to point, click, and then hit a mouse button programmed with Alt-L would be sweet in my book! -- ò¸ó Nick Danger -- __ Archives : http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com Moderators : mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] TBTech List: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] You are subscribed as : archive@jab.org
Bizarre Toolbar Behavior
Check this nutty stuff out: If I open the editor in one account the toolbar Send and place in outbox icons are reveresed, with the outbox first and then the send. All other accounts are send , then outbox. I just noticed the behavior after the recent upgrade to 1.53 today. Noticed because I was suddenly sending stuff to the outbox instead of sending. But why only one account?! Anyone got any ideas? -- (,_,_,_,) ò¸ó Nick /|\`-._( )_.-'/|\ Danger / | \`'-/ \-'`/ | \ / |_.'-.\ /.-'._| \ [MUA: 1.53] /_.-'`-._\ [OS: Windows 98 4] -- __ Archives : http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com Moderators : mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] TBTech List: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] You are subscribed as : archive@jab.org
Re: Bizarre Toolbar Behavior
Subject: Bizarre Toolbar Behavior From: Nick Danger Dated: Wed, 13 Jun 2001, 13:36:22 (1:36:22 PM local) ~~ As much as I hate replying to myself I had to add this note: I was just testing this behavior out by opening the editor and then changing accounts on the fly using the right-click on the status bar method and whenever I got to my main account the icons switched right in front of my eyes! Then back again as I went to a different account. Really wacky. Figures it would happen to the account I use most too.
