TB! network question
Hi all, A while ago I set up a friend so that two computers running TB! share the same mailboxes stored on one of the machines. I did this by setting up TB! on computer A and then on computer B I created accounts with the same name but directing the default location to computer A. This (besides some minor flubs) works perfectly. However, now my friend wants to disconnect his computer (computer B) from the network and take it with him on vacation. While he doesn't need to send or receive mail while out of the office, he does need to be able to reference his emails. My first attempt to make this possible was to sit down at the computer that he wants to take away and create a new account that this time doesn't point to computer A but to the local disk. I then copied his mail folder from computer A to the local account on computer B. Everything went as planned until he disconnected computer B from the network and fired up TB!. At this point TB! complained that it couldn't connect to the mail folder on computer A. This I expected, however acknowledging the error another window popped up saying that it couldn't create a working directory. Clicking OK on this message caused TB! to close. I then tried to install a fresh copy of TB! to another location on computer B hoping that he could just use that version while out of the office. Unfortunately, the fresh install promptly imported the original settings and I was back to square one. I guess it did a scan of the system and noticed the other installation of TB! So after all the above, here is my question. How can I set TB! so that while on the network it connects to the appropriate remote files, but while not on the network still allows TB! to run with the local files. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. -- Best regards, Nick Current version is 3.80.06 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
Force the use of SMTP?
Hi All, Recently I set up an account for a friend's small office and ran into an interesting problem. TB! sits on three different computers with one acting as a server. Basically the other computers' accounts are set up to point to the Messages.tbb and Messages.tbi on the server for each of their respective accounts. He has 3 different accounts, i.e. [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] It would seem that whenever one account e-mails another it doesn't use SMTP and then POP3 to send and receive the message, but rather puts the message directly into the other account. The to: and from: addresses are right, but a copy of the RFC 822 headers looks like this: Date: Mon, 6 Mar 2006 14:42:17 -0500 From: x [EMAIL PROTECTED] X-Mailer: The Bat! (v2.10.03) Business Reply-To: x [EMAIL PROTECTED] Organization: x X-Priority: 3 (Normal) Message-ID: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: test 1441 MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit I'm no expert in deciphering the 822s, but in this case it doesn't seem to have most of the information I see in normal 822s (i.e. received from). Is TB! being smart and realizing that it's really not going anywhere so it just puts it into the appropriate local account? Any help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! -- Best regards, Nick Current version is 3.71.03 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Hi All, This is a strange one, unless TB! v2 added something I don't know about. A friend of mine would like to include his website url and email address in all new and replied to emails so that simply by double clicking on them the right action occurs. I told him to add them to his New message and Reply template. After doing so, he sent me a test email and everything looked OK. Both the website address and mailto were highlighted and worked, BUT only in the text only mode of the viewer (I use TB! v1.62). Once I clicked on the message.htm tab. Both the url and mailto turned into plain text and became unclickable. Just to make sure it wasn't my version of TB!, I fired up a copy of TB! v2 (set to html only) and had the same problem. Corrupted tbb files?
Hi All, I'm expirencing some bizarre behavior with the Bat! v1.62. When I attempt to download mail I get an error message telling me that it couldn't store the file. When I look at the Inbox messages.tbb file in Windows Explorer it's a whopping 2.1 gigs. This shouldn't be the case as there are only about 7,000 messages in the Inbox with the largest messages coming in at about .9 megs. Deleting the largest files (it took forever) didn't change the size of the tbb file at all. When I moved a 27K message from the Inbox to a temporary folder in the Bat! that folder's tbb file ballooned up to approx. 950K. I tried deleting the tbi folder and restarting but it didn't do anything. Attempting to compress the folder results in a message saying that 0 bytes were saved. That was a bit suspicious simply for the fact that the compression only took about a second and a number of messages were deleted prior to compressing. Now, to top it all off, the Inbox lists a total of zero messages while it's tbb file still has a size of 2.1 gigs. Any suggestions as to what may be going on? -- Best regards, Nick Current version is 2.10.03 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
