Address book bug (contact deletion): anybody to confirm?

2006-04-25 Thread Maksym Kozub
There has been a long-standing bug when deleting contacts from the AB.
If the contact is in two groups, and each of those has Hide items if
not explicitly selected, then when deleting _any one_ of those
groups, the contact gets deleted (even though it should stay in the
other group). I submitted a bug report at
https://www.ritlabs.com/bt/view.php?id=5826, but Stefan says he cannot
confirm it (which is somehow mysterious...). Could any kind soul out
there test it with their installation and report the results on the
Bugtraq?

Best regards,
Maksym

I've never noticed the behaviour you describe, so I tested it. This is
what I did:

Created two AB groups (hidden enabled)
Created one contact belonging to both
Created one contact belonging to one
Deleted the group with two contacts
Only the contact belonging only to the deleted group was gone

Created two AB groups (hidden enabled)
Created one contact belonging to both
Deleted one group
The remaining group had no entries

Created two AB groups (hidden enabled)
Created two contacts belonging to both
Deleted one group
The remaining group had one entry

Definitely a bug, but not one that's likely to surface in a real life
environment. I added a not to your bug.

Address Book Bug?

2004-01-10 Thread Stuart Cuddy
Hello TBUDL,

Is it just me or does the Hide items if not specifically selected
option not work correctly. I created a folder that had this
selected, added names, and then decided not to keep this option so
that I would see the names in the main list, but it is not allowing
  me to do so.

I just realized that I have the same names in another group that has
the Hide items if not specifically selected option checked, so I
assume that this is what's causing them to not show up in the main
list. This leads to the question of what specifically selected
means. Checking it as a favorite does not work.

What I need is the 4 contacts in group 1 to show up in the main
address book, but not the other 20 that are in group 2.

Also when you select the address book by clicking on the To:, CC:,
or BCC: you get a list that includes everyone instead of the ones
  that aren't hidden.

small address-book bug

2001-01-30 Thread Roel

Hello Everybody,

when there's no 'default'-addressbook set (where addresses go when
you use the ctrl-w combo), the address isn't added to
  any address-book...

  to reproduce:
  - delete all your address-books from the list
  - re-add them, don't select a default
  - try to add an address using ctrl-w (or right-click/specials/add
sender to addressbook)

Personally, I think it would be nice to be able to choose "on the
fly" which AB an address is added to. I find myself moving
addresses from the default AB to another AB quite often.

Anyone know the process for Importing an Address Book from
Outlook Express?

I am considering TheBat as a possible replacement to OE but
the inability to import my large Address Book is limiting.

I don't why you call this a but. I would say many of us went thru this
process. Essentially export OE to some sort of deliminated (comma,
tab) file then import into a TB! AB. Should work without much
  difficulty. Welcome to TB!

edoc I get the names but not the E-mail addresses.

I can give you a step by step but what occurs to me is that when you
are in the import process, TB! provides a mapping dialogue so you
can match incoming info with the TB! AB.

Take a special look under the "Address Book Field" see if eMail is
set to "no". I think TB! may do this by default if this is not
changed to "yes" manually, it will import all the other info but
*not* the email addresses. That could explain your dilemma.
