No you don't, it's created by the dir command I gave.

Every XP Pro installations comes with CMD.EXE - that's the console.
If you're not sure how to start it click Start then click on Run...
(lower right), then type CMD and hit enter.

Change to the root by typing:

cd \

Finally, enter this directory command:

dir /ah-d /tc /o-d > myroot.txt

That simple gives a directory of hidden files by reverse creation date
order and redirects it to a file I called myroot.txt. Either send
that file or paste its contents to in an email to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

BTW, you can look at the file (so you can delete any personal
filenames you may have saved to the root) by something like:

notepad myroot.txt

When you're done sending, you can delete that file with:

del myroot.txt

There have been several reports of the ntdll AV, and at least one
report of the Grid index out of range. I'm not certain the are
directly related to TB!, but I've only encountered the ntdll AV while
running TB!. Also, that AV only appears to have an impact on TB!.

Closing and re-opening TB! eliminates the Grid problem.

Because of my mini-disaster, my system could be the problem. I was
hoping that somebody might simply do a DIR and let me know if I've
missed restoring a file.

Anyone with XP Pro can look at the root with either CMD or 4NT by
invoking the following command from the root:

dir /ah-d /tc /o-d > myroot.txt

That simple gives a directory of hidden files by reverse creation date
order.

If anyone reading this, and has XP Pro installed, would email the
contents of your myroot.txt, I would appreciate it.

ntdll.dll error always followed by "Grid Index Out of Range"

2004-07-18 Thread Bill McCarthy
Hello TB User Discussion List,

I don't get this all the time, but about once a day - generally after
TB! has been running smoothly for hours. Is anyone else seeing this?
I found a single message, back around April, mentioning this error.

I suspect it's unique to me. I accidently wiped out the contents of
my root directory (Win XP Pro) on 6/19 and got things going after the
dreaded Missing ntldr message, by copying ntldr and ntdetect.com from
my installation CD and creating a boot.ini from an MS KB article.

Here's my root now (the dates are creation dates):

6/21/2004 2:53 199 RH_A boot.ini
6/20/2004 0:24 0 RHSA MSDOS.SYS
6/20/2004 0:24 0 RHSA IO.SYS
6/19/2004 23:15 1,610,612,736 _HSA pagefile.sys
5/27/2004 19:19 1,072,746,496 _HSA hiberfil.sys
3/31/2003 7:00 233,632 _H_A ntldr
3/31/2003 7:00 47,580 _H_A ntdetect.com

Did I miss something important?

BTW, here's my manually created boot.ini content:
==
[boot loader]
timeout=0
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /nodebug
/fastdetect
==

Thanks for any ideas.

This may have been it. I went in and deleted all the tbi files and

How many memory is there on your computer,
 how many free ?
Do you purge and compress your folders ?
 Messages.tbb file size ?
Do you check your index files (.Tbi) ?
A sign of a corrupt index can be an error when trying to backup,
in this case try to delete it and restart The Bat!.

If you weren't using Windows 2000 I would have said your system is running
low on GDI resources. Yet, AFAIK Windows 2000 doesn't have GDI limits. I
ran into the same problem and some other software was the culprit
(Sensiva) and the Bat the victim. I think under W2k you can use the Task
Manager to monitor GDI resources, try to see if they are at a limit.

Sorry, some W2k user might give you better instructions.

Out of Memory/Grid index out of range

2002-02-06 Thread Kitty

Originally posted to the beta list since I thought this might be a
beta issue. However, I got no responses and I've tried several betas
and have the problems now with all of them so tend to think it is not
a beta issue particularly since it just started and I've been using
various betas for a long time.

I am getting a lot of out of memory messages. Several weeks ago, when
doing kill dupes in all folders, I would occasionally get a box saying
"out of memory" and it would stop in the middle of the process. The
rest of the time everything is OK.

Now, I am getting this frequently at other times. For example, I was
going to sort a folder by thread by subject and I got the out of
memory box. (Closed program and reopened and could sort by subject).

Or I was simply scrolling down the list of messages in
a folder and I suddenly got the out of memory box.

Also, I wanted to go to my sent folder (which has about 25
messages in it) and I got the message "grid index out of range."
However, that is fairly rare. I get the out of memory messages
frequently and can't seem to tie it to anything I've done on my
computer.

(I am using Windows 2000 in case it matters). Any thoughts?

Grid index out of bounds is a Delphi/Pascal error message. I'm almost
sure it's to do with calling a position in an array outside of the
current bounds. However, if it really it an array the error message
would be 'List Index out of bounds' (the same error message as for a
list box being referenced greater than the listBox.Items.Count value).

As it's a Grid Index out of bounds I'm assuming that the message list
window is actually a grid (a la Excel) not as I first assumed a
ListBox.

As we can't see the source code (unless you'd like to be really nice

I get this problem occaisionally but only when I am deleting messages

Ehhh, I don't know, then. I'll pay more attention next time it

Hmmm. I'm using Win2k and whenever I get the grid index out of range
error, the message list becomes unusable and I have to restart TB!
for things to again start working as they should.

While I agree with your suggestions, I've to say I don't need to
exit and restart TB when such an error occurs. Maybe it's because
Win2k is a more robust environment.

I also get this error fairly often when deleting messages from a
folder that has threading by reference. It doesn't happen when
threading is by subject.

IMHO, this problem suggests improvements in two areas:

- The problem itself should be fixed when RIT Labs is able to address
it.

- There should be better error recovery so that it is not necessary to
exit and restart TB when such an error occurs. After the error, you
should be able to (re-)click on a folder and have it reopened.

I used to experience this bug when I re-filtered messages in a folder
with threading enabled. When I disabled threading and did the deleting,
the problem stopped. I've reported the bug to Ritlabs already.

Yes, the same bug occurs here on occasion. usually when I

It happens in all folders, usually but not always when there are a lot
of messages in the folder and usually, but not always when it is a
thread. It's that "not always" that makes it so weird to me. There is
no absolute consistency to the problem that I can see.

I have received this error a couple of times, and it was always when deleting
fairly large groups of messages, including threaded messages, via the delete
thread keystroke combo (SHIFT-CTRL-DEL).

Grid Index Out of Range

2000-01-12 Thread Nancy

Ever since upgrading to version 1.38 I periodically get the error
message "Grid Index Out of Range" when viewing and deleting messages.
After that happens I can no longer view any messages until I close
out the program and restart it. I can't figure any particular
circumstances under which it occurs. It seems to be random

Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Is there a way to stop it?
