The opening of web pages and HTML links is definatly a problem with
Firefox, as this behaviour is not seen with IE.

I have not identified the differences between the machines that
complain and those that don't yet.

The Mailto links however, are the Bat problem. The error comes from
the Bat, and is browser independent. I am not sure why it does it, but
the problem is not shown when using Microsoft Mail or Outlook.

Help with error

2007-06-03 Thread Michael Thompson
Hello All!

I was a long time ago a user of the bat and have just returned to the
new 3.99 version. But I have a slight issue...

When clicking on a mailto link within a HTML page, I get the error
The System Cannot find the file specified. This does however work
from within the bat.

Also When clicking HTML links within the Bat (and the Help menu) it
has the same error.

I am using windows Vista, and the Bat has all the file associations,
and is the default mail handler.

anyone got any ideas on how to fix this up?

Thanks in advance for any help..

Strange indeed. TB! opens the system's default browser, so may not a

funny bug in Vista, but I wouldn't know how to check for the default

Youre right, it does appear to be a Firefox issue, as IE does not
cause the Bat to complain, it does however still complain when a

JA If you still have the files and folders there, copy them to a safe
JA location (outside TB! directory should be fine). Recreate the
JA accounts in TB!, close TB!, copy files back for each account... reopen
JA TB!, and they should all be there... At least that was how I managed
JA to do it last time anyway. You may not necessarily have to copy the
JA files back, but I think you do because when you first create an
JA account, it writes the files, and if they are already there, it'll
JA update them... which will get rid of your old settings.

well, I just created the new ( old ) accounts, selecting the existing
folders. Once you select the folders, it already HAS the info for the
next screens, so I didn't have to do anything ! All is back now ;)
well, maybe not the templates, yup they are still there, from my OLD
backup, but my newer ( and working) spamcop filters are gone SIGH..
oh well, almost done!

Yes, this method has worked for me a couple of time, too. BTW - I
think zip drives also use scsiport.sys...Iomega has some weird way of

Hello TBUDL,

arg. well it happened. TBSOD, my computer crashed today, weird
error about new hardware ( that I didn't install), got a BSOD error at
bootup even when doing SAFE mode, it was complaining about a

anyway, I had backups of TB and I tried to do a restore and I got a
neat error:
Access violation at address 00402AF2 in module thebat.exe. Read of
address 0025FB7F.

my main restore worked, so I have my addressbook and folders, but my
later updated backup, with 2 new accounts, gave me this error. It
must also have my updated templates, because they are gone also!

the mail folders are there for all the accounts, so I ASSUME it won't
