Hello MAU,

 Hello Chris,

I have sent you a PM with a message from the folder as an attachment.
It appeared as a .eml file, I am hoping this is correct? Thanks for
 your help Miguel!

I got your PM with the attachment. I saved it, imported it in a folder
and replied to it (without sending) using your template and the reply
(in HTML only) seems correct to. Actually, I will reply to it again and
change the To address to your's so that you will get it and verify
 yourself.

As you can see in my signature I'm using The Bat! v6.3.0.2 (ALPHA),
while I think you are using v5.8.10. I don't know if this can make a
 difference.

I have altered my settings under Options - Preferences - Viewer /
Editor and also used the macro Feli suggested (%SETEDITOR=4)
in the folder properties for that mailing list, and all seems to be
working OK now. I see the html text quoted when I reply to a post and
my reply for this folder is also in html. Replies to messages in other
folders is in plain text which is what I prefer to use. I am still
unsure if TB's behaviour is correct and as expected, or if these
measures are abnormal, but many thanks to all for guiding me through
this. All the best.

Yes, you can define Reply template for that folder to be HTML. Right
click on the folder, select Properties/Templates/Reply and in top menu
 of the window select Format/HTML.

That should work, but doesn't, despite setting the folder properties -
Reply to use HTML I do not see any quoted text, but thanks for the
idea.

I have received such message too. In my case, they were all malformed.
But I think Outlook reads them anyway, so that is the confusion.

  see screenshots at:

I can confirm the same, also with the part_01.txt and part_02.txt
 surrounding the HTLM tab.

I you have the HTML tab open and reply, the text will be correctly
 quoted.

Uploaded now, I got distracted and left them on my PC, sorry. I should
add that Agent and Becky! both read and reply to these mailings with
 zero user input.

If you create a bur report, I will support it.

With the html tab open and the message contents visible, replying
results in none of the original message showing save what I uploaded
as a screenshot, but thanks for the idea. I can see that it SHOULD do
this, or at least I would expect it to do this!

It's easy with an address template. Add the lists address to your
addressbook and add the macro %SETEDITOR=4 to your normal reply
template. I do this for my business account and it works like a charm.

That DOES work, thanks Feli! I didn't use the address book though, I
just added the macro line you cited in the folder properties, REPLY section.

Well, I have just tried your template and it did work for me. Of course
I was not replying to a message from your troublesome list's folder.
Feel free to send me by PM one of those messages as an attachment and I
