Your instructions worked perfectly (except for one odd thing) and I'm back to 4.2.44.2 without losing any mail! The odd thing was a problem that occurred during the install when there was an apparently error due to a missing install resource. The missing resource turned out to be the installer for TB 4.0.16 which hasn't been on my system for quite some time. I also thought this was a good time to remove old, leftover TB entries from the Add/Remove software list, so after I ran the 5.0.8 uninstall, I ran the uninstall for "The Bat!" (no version number) which actually did /something/ and ended with a message box saying "The Bat has been removed from your computer. Sad but true." There was a reference to the 4.0.16 installer in the database, but Control Panel would not show any options (like 'uninstall') for it, so I just deleted that entry with another tool. Regardless, I'm happy again. TB is working correctly for the first time in a couple weeks! First I made a 5.0.8 backup, which I did not need later on. I deleted 5.0.8 with the control panel Windows remover. After this removal there was still a folder C:\Program Files\The Bat! with a few items, I deleted thebat.exe in this folder. Then I run the 4.2.44.2 installer, which did not ask for a backup. I used restore which had a point for the day I installed 5 and that date returned me to the lower version of TB! and all mail was there. Elaine Current version is 4.2.42 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Lost Favorites Drop-List
When I upgraded from 4.2.42 to 5.0.8, the drop-list that normally shows the people I have marked as Favourites [i.e. "Add this address to the instant address (Favourite) pop-up menu"] vanished. When this happened once before, I was told to stop The Bat, delete some magic file and restart The Bat and the list was restored. I'm really hoping someone can remind me what file that was because I really, REALLY miss that feature! Also, if there's any way to make the tooltips look better and, perhaps, appear *ABOVE* the things they are explaining, I'd love to know that, too. -- Steven Vallière | tb 5.0.8 | mailto:the...@e-visions.com -- "If you didn't write it down, then it didn't happen." -Larry Zana Current version is 4.2.42 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
