MRK Yes, I forgot the space... I have this in my TB templates, but I
MRK am currently sending these emails from work usingugh...Lotus
MRK Notes (only because we have to, corporate standard and all).

Maybe the moderators will forgive you for second time! :-))

Quick question on Signal Strings

2004-05-12 Thread Michael R Kizer

I looked in the help file but ddin't see an answer to this.
The Signal Strings that you use in fitlers...is it an exact match by
default or is a partial match assumed?

For example, say you have a filter setup to catch all email from a website
dumbdomain.com, can you just use the string dumdomain.com in the
Sender column to catch things like: [EMAIL PROTECTED] or
[EMAIL PROTECTED])?

I've noticed that some of my older filters have a signal string like:
*dumdomain.com
but I'm not sure if that asterisk is necessary or not...

When filtering TB! looks for the presence of the string you typed. For
example the partial (signal) string Reply-To:TBUDL will match
Reply-To:[EMAIL PROTECTED] because it is found in the target
location. You should not use * unless using regular expressions (see
Options tab).

Yes.

No, this is incorrect.

Thanks! That's what I was thinking, but wasn't positive...

Yes, I forgot the space... I have this in my TB templates, but I am
currently sending these emails from work usingugh...Lotus Notes (only

in my sig and quote marks (oh joy). It is really one of the worst
applications I've ever used (bad UI, non-standard behavior around every
turn, memory and resource hog, etc.). Anyway, enough ranting...
