SJ BTW, how do you implement those two fonts in TB? By changing font in

For Lucida Console, you simply install the font as you would any other in
windows, go to TB!'s editor preferences and select it from the font
choices.

Lucida Sans Typ is different. Though it's a monospaced font, Windows will
not list it as such and it will not show up in TB!'s font list. You have
to select it via the registry. Before doing so, install the font in
Windows and shut down TB!.

Go to HKCU/Software/RIT/The Bat!/Editor

Double click on 'font' and type in the field Lucida Sans Typ

Double click on 'font size', select decimal and type in your desired font
size. I use size 12. Note that Lucida Sans Typ really gets lovely when
anti-aliasing sets in. At my 1600x1200 screen resolution, fonts appear
reasonably small even though they're already anti-aliased.

If you like using smaller fonts then Lucida Console may be more attractive
for you. It looks far better Lucida Sans Typ without anti-aliasing.

T What is 'anti-aliasing'?

It's that wonderful smoothed out look that fonts get when they're quite
large in windows. The option to enable anti-aliasing is found in the
desktop properties/effects/smooth edges of screen fonts.

To see what I mean, disable the option and then display say Times New
Roman at size 20. Re-enable the option and see how much better the font
looks. :=)

TB! tends to auto-select an appropriate font for message replies, i.e.,

and it will also use a font that supports the charset used by the sender.
Your preferred font seems to have limited character support so TB! tends

JR I'm sure you're right but I'm surprised I haven't seen TB! do this in
JR all the time I have been using it.

It depends on which font you normally use. I use Lucida Sans Typ which has
a relatively limited character support. If someone were to write to me
using say the Cyrillic (KOI8-R) charset (Russians typically use this
font), and I hit reply, the editor appears using Courier New, instead of
my font.

Three fonts that I realize have excellent character support are Courier
New, Andale Mono and Lucida Console. You will not see what I'm talking
about if you use one of those fonts normally.

Also, if you communicate only with English speakers that use plain ASCII
characters or Latin-1 (ISO..) then you very likely will not experience the
automatic font change that I'm referring to.
