I can't use the Choco Dark, as many people aren't able to read my mails, then.
I couldn't read yours in HTML (Black font on dark background), but switching to 
Text made the words visible.
I'll have to live with the white menu bars until the themes get fixed.

I can't use the Choco Dark, as many people aren't able to read my mails, then.
I couldn't read yours in HTML (Black font on dark background), but switching to

If somebody wants a dark background for the folder list because they find a 
light background too glaring for their eyes, my guess is the same applies to 
the message list. I have used colour groups to give a dark background to these 
lists for many years, although I do have specific colour groups that I use just 
in the folder list.

That  is  just  a  'nasty'  workaround that does change the background
color  of  the  folder tree pane if the color group for each folder is
Generic, and it does also affect the message list.

Go to  Options | Preferences - Message List - Color Groups and edit the Generic 
Group changing its background color for normal state.

It's very strange you have that freezing for non-classic themes. What is your 
hardware (CPU and RAM)? Do you use 64-bit or 32-bit version of The Bat! ?

No problem. I probably didn't make myself clear.
I don't like a bright white background. It's glaring for my eyes. The themes 
made me very happy, until I found the fatal flaw.
