IAW remember turning on logging SMTP connections.

The default is that it's turned off. With a log file of 500 MB I'd
suggest you turn it off and delete the log file. Protocol logging is
account specific, so check all of your accounts.

IAW What's with these cache files?

You can delete them, TB is supposed to do that, but forgets to when
it's terminated via the task manager.

IAW It turned out I had over 38,000 files in my cache folder going right
IAW back to 2008.

That's a lot, that's about 10,000 a year or 30 a day. Have you had a
period that TB was misbehaving extremely?

IAW What are these cache files and what is the point in keeping them?

Stuff that TB needs to save as a file before they're processed any
further. And there's no reason whatsoever that you should save them.
TB tends to get faster with an empty cache folder.

That's the strange thing. I have rarely (and I mean a couple of times
a year) had to force shut down things.

Anyhow, I will me keeping an eye on that folder from now on.

The imgfiles folder has the same issue - the stuff never goes away. I
have a batch file to just clean them out.
