2000-02-03 Thread Syafril Hermansyah

Hello Januk Aggarwal,

On Friday, January 28, 2000 at 20:37:45 GMT -0800 (which was
04/02/2000 11:37 GMT +0700 my Local Time) you told to the list:

JA they left TB running for more than 36 hours straight, then TB would
JA stop checking mail automatically.

  Will do. I'll get back to you in another 36 hours or so. ^-^;

JA Thank you.

JA Just out of curiosity, about how much mail do you download in a
JA typical 36 hours straight? The reason I ask is, the other person
JA who complained about this bug was downloading upwards of 1000
JA messages a day. I'm wondering if perhaps The Bat encounters some
JA upward limit on the number of messages downloaded in one session
JA then decides to quit. This seems unlikely, but since there are so
JA few people who can do this test, it would be nice to get as much
JA information as possible about the conditions when the bug occurs.

Januk,
My PC have been running a week non stop, and no problem so far.
For the record, since last Friday my TB! already download 12,971
messages (the top on February 1 = 2445 messages/day), and the largest
messages I've try to download in one session is 7599 messages (91 MB
size) as I reported couple month ago.

I think the person who complaint about it using Win95/98 that have "
a lot of *.tmp" problem as Keith and my PC at home.

I will upgrade to 1.41 beta/3, so I need to exit from The Bat! :-).

Ok, so that just reinforces the importance of keeping up on your
 computer's housecleaning. :)

Well, that's great. It appears that either it isn't a bug after all,
or they've fixed it. Either way, that's good news for us users. :)

OK, but there still remains another fairly serious problem in
this regard, as I reported earlier. If a server is unreachable,
The Bat! stays in the same Accessing mode and does not stop until
you press Cancel. After you cancel, it won't resume auto-checking
again until you restart the program.

TP I'll double "Doc Wonmug"'s experiment. I usually shut TB down when I

TP days.

I had TB running from Friday morning untill this morning, roughly 72
hours on a permanent connection. When I came to the office this
morning, TB was still checking for mail every 5 minutes. :-)

One thing, however: it was awfully slow when moving from one folder to
another. I then closed TB, and upon reopen, the speed was up to
normal.

It takes a real man to keep it up for three days. I managed to go
for close to 36 hours, but when I started messing with NJWin for
Japanese support, it made my system tray disappear and I had to
reboot to get it back.

All the more reason to hope for real Japanese support. (Any Windows
NT experts out there who know how to restore the system tray display
without rebooting, or better yet, how to prevent it from going away?
Running systray.exe doesn't do it.)

Probably should have inserted some appropriate emoticons up there
somewhere, but what the hey, they don't call me old pokerface for
nothing.

Nah. TB! behaves funny at times and a restart gets it back in order. I
guess it's more a stability issue than anything else. TB!'s instability for
me is not based on outright crashes or lockups. It tends to start behaving
peculiarly, the most common thing being that the message list will not
display for any of the folders.

Actually this is problem that has been encountered before, but for
some reason it never generated much useful discussion on the list. I
guess not too many people can afford to leave their Internet
connections on long enough to verify this bug. If you don't mind
running a couple of tests, someone had previously mentioned that when
they left TB running for more than 36 hours straight, then TB would
stop checking mail automatically. Unfortunately I can't test this
myself, but if you can verify this behaviour, it might be worth
 reporting to the developers.

Hey, there's another enhancement I'd like to see: disabling the
"Close" button on the upper-left side of the window, or maybe just
making it minimize. I often hit it out of habit, when all I want to
do is drop it to the tray.

I get a couple hundred messages a day, so maybe we can hit the limit
after a week or so if there is one. ;)
