Not only annoying, but time-consuming when one has to stop to figure
out what's going on.

aacu> I don't see why it has to go against the usual GUI behaviour.

We discussed a similar problem with the "address book picker" dialogue
window on tbbeta a few weeks ago. I'm not absolutely certain, but I
believe someone filed a Bug Track report on it. I'll look a bit later
on today, when I have more time.

Since the behavior you and I have been working with in the Account/log
display window is still present in the beta I'm running, I'll try to
construct--our unwieldy English language plagues me, too, :) --a
concise description and bring the matter up on the tbbeta list.

The Christmas Edition is getting hard work and active attention from
everyone there. I'm hoping, with some anticipation that my hope will
come true, for a stable version that will be desirable to everyone! :)

Well yes but it's a bit annoying when you click a button and the
window behaves out of the ordinarily (good grammar construction there!)

I don't see why it has to go against the usual GUI behaviour.

I ran through your steps above, and I get the exact behavior that you
describe, with one exception.

In checking whether the window was "draggable" I had dragged it to
about a 1x2inch size.

A left click put it up in the center of my screen, where I had
positioned it. I had the option to click on the "square" to make it
full screen. I then closed it with the red "X" so that it would open
full screen next time I wanted it, full screen being my preference.

Somehow, I seem to have that small-size window responding like a
"restore," but with a simple left-click on the task bar icon.

However, I don't know how it got configured that way.

And I don't know how yours got configured as it is.

Interesting puzzle.

But, is your problem of being able to see your log solved now?

Hope so. :)

Oh I see.

Ok Thi is what I can now do.

Open logfile : TB - Main Window - Account - View Log

The window opens at maximise. The minimise button is greyed out. So I
hit the other toggle button and the log window minimises to the task
bar. Click on task bar icon does nothing. Right click on task bar
button gives Maximise option which does what it says.

It happened to me yesterday, but I somehow "concluded" it is because my
LOG file is set to 1000 KB maximum. When it was around 700 KB, it simply
didn't want to show the contents, just a blank space. After I bkuped
this file and removed it, the new one is created and was working as
usual then.

Are we talking about the same thing?

The Bat!/Main window/Account/View log ?

This brings up a typical Windows window for me, with options to
"Restore Down" from the full-size I have it set for, and options to
drag it almost to nothing in size.

Do you think this is what Marten says he did?

I didn't understand.
Log window cannot be minimized. It is restricted action

May be window is hidden beyond screen borders and\or have very small size?

By the way,
TheBat remembers position and state of log window in registry:

\\\Registry\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\RIT\The Bat!\Log height
\\\Registry\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\RIT\The Bat!\Log highlight
\\\Registry\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\RIT\The Bat!\Log Left
\\\Registry\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\RIT\The Bat!\Log Maximized
\\\Registry\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\RIT\The Bat!\Log Top
\\\Registry\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\RIT\The Bat!\Log width

It shouldn't, I think. Looks buggy.

I was just about to ask if you'd looked in the directory,
TheBat!/MAIL/[particular account]/ACCOUNT.log to see if you actually
still had the file.

Glad you figured out what was happening to you, anyway.

Wait a minute! I've just discovered what's going on! Obviously the

subsequent reuqests - even after several shutdowns and start ups over

didn't see them!

Definitely an account folder...

Just the last message from the logfile:

07/11/2004, 20:55:42 FETCH -connection finished - 0 messages received

for example. This doesn't change when trying to open the logfile. Just
nothing happens at all - as if the feature is not a real feature at
all.

Can anyone suggest why? Do I need to associate a file type with a text
