Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm not sure I understand the point of TT
fonts in TB! since TB! sends *only* text emails. Wouldn't the use of TT fonts
necessitate RTF or HTML formatted emails?

Not at all. I've seen numerous e-mail clients that send text-only
e-mails (and I for one *hate* HTML mails), so it's not a technical
problem at all. The last time I asked, RitLabs told me that it would
be implemented in version 2.x of TB! -- That was over a year ago...

Never, I hope.

Sorry - end of a long day ... the longer answer is that it is more
appropriate to find a fixed pitch font that you do like. One that gets
mentioned every time this debate reemerges is Andale Mono - which I
use myself.

The facts are that:

1. You can't do this kind of hanging paragraph format or anything
even approximating it using a variable font.

2. Another thing that can't be done is this to underline bits.

3. NumberReasonRating
 ------
 1 You can't do columns without 5
 2 You can't do justification 2
3 Its the only way to achieve 10
   plain text WYSIWYG between
   dissimilar email client
   software.

Columnar presentation is another *good* reason for the TB editor to
provide the free-space floating cursor.

Doubtless V2 will see it introduced. Doubtless the vast majority of
us will ignore it and stick with what works *really* well.

One thing, is that even though your message appears fine in your editor, it
doesn't mean that the person receiving the e-mail will be using a fixed width
font.

Now, for a question. I know how to tell the editor which font to use, but how
do I change the font for Folder pane and the message list pane?

Maybe not by default, but *all* MUAs offer a fixed pitch view mode.
Ultimately I would probably like to see TB work the way Pegasus does
it in this respect - a simple hot key toggle between the two possible
view fonts. I'd probably still stick with Andale mono anyway - I'm
used to it :-).

JB Now, for a question. I know how to tell the editor which font to
JB use, but how do I change the font for Folder pane and the message

Not possible I'm afraid. This is hard coded in the interface. There
has bee some talk of changing system wide defaults (menus etc) from
Windows' display properties but I think that ended up having little or
no effect.

Hang on ... by using colour groups you can change the font / colour of
the message lists, so that one's available right now.

Very slick!! Works like a charm. I can live with the folder pane, I don't
look at that as much as the message lists. Thanks!!

I'll second that! I really LIKE these fonts, too, for the reasons you
mentioned, and others. TB makes it easy to use them also. If anything,
I'd like to see any possible improvements in
handling/editing/filtering text much before adding fancy fonts or
HTML.

But, I'm mostly interested in the information content of messages, not
how pretty they look. :-)
