Check what you enter to Nickname (Handle) field. This must be unique
for each entry, as you can then only enter the handle to the To:, CC:
and BCC: fields, and The Bat will automatically replace the handle
with the real e-mail address. You can leave the handle empty.

I created two entries in my address book, o n e each in separate
groups and added two email addresses to each entry. Even if I delete
the Handle, the Duplicate handle error still crops up when I try and
select one of the addresses to use. I have verified that the error
must be because the same _email_address_ appears more than once in the
same address book.

The error message is therefore misleading! It should say that there is
a duplicate email address - somewhere in my address book.

Maybe it is only in Beta/27.

I started at 27 so I don't know about 26. When I highlight a name in the address
book that has multiples then I can right click and see Add address
in the menu. If I mouseover Add address then to the right I see
another pulldown with all the emails of that user. I select the one I
want and it moves into the respective To, cc, or bcc list.

choosing an e-mail address from contacts

2002-01-11 Thread sbsi lists

Hello ,

When adding someone in my address book, I can allow them to have many
different e-mail accounts. Now, when I choose them when sending a
message, how do I pick one of the alternate addresses?

For instance, in Outlook2k (not 2002!), I used to be able and
right-mouse click on a user and pick a different e-mail account if
they had one.

I do see that I can have the multiple addresses added to the BCC but
then I'd have to remove the one in the TO FIELD (which is the defaulted one
or the first one in the list of e-mail accounts) and then would have
to copy/paste from the other choices there's got to be something
easier/better and I just haven't figured it out yet!!

What's the secret in TB!?
I don't have to create multiple contacts in the address book for each e-mail, do I?

You had to, until version 1.53 (from the headers of your message I can
see that this is the version you are using). In the current Beta,
there's a mechanism to select one of the alternate addresses.

Nice but a bit clumsy ;-(
It would be simpler when writing an eMail address into the Address
field to have this Icon beside the already existing one. When clicking
on it it should show the eMail-Address selection from the Name entered
there. If you have more than one Address written in the Field it
should show the alternative address of all of then if it exist.

Why is it that when I try and use the 'Add address'option I get an
error message Duplicate handle and cannot add an alternative
 address?

Yes I have this too. But not with all address books. One AB called
'Maillist' I have in one vCard an entry with 2 eMail address. The
other AB called 'privat' I have a test vCard with my name and three
eMailaddress.

Using the Maillist AB I can choose what ever is defined as alternativ
but this does not work using my privat AB focusing on my test vCard.

Can any other confirm this??

So, are your directions only good for the 1.54 Beta Version? I can do
what you're talking about below in 1.53d; however, it doesn't
accomplish what I want... so, I'm *assuming* it has to be in the beta.
Right?

If I'm using 1.53d real version, would it be recommended from all
you *more* experienced TB! users to go ahead and jump in and use the
Beta versions?? Or, just wait until the *true* release comes out? And
if so (ie, using beta vers), anything special that a newbie might need to know about
upgrading to the Beta without making me regret it later!! ;)

Can anyone get this beta? I'm dying for that feature also. It's

name just for their different e=mail addresses.
