Re[3]: Debugger checking

Hello Sergey,

Wednesday, Wednesday, October 20, 1999, you wrote:

Sergey How to remove debugger checking from the The Bat! 1.36?

Sergey These guys from Ritlabs are not clever enough - they think stupid debugger
Sergey checking could prevent The Bat! from cracking!
t well, as far as I heard there isnt a working crack for 1.36 yet... so
t it seems to help!
Sergey You are joker! Do you want crack? No problem.
nope, I donot need one...
Sergey IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO PROTECT YOUR SOFTWARE FROM AVERAGE-LEVEL
Sergey HACKER. PERIOD.
correct, agreed. BUT note, you say average hacker...
I have sofar seen very few programs which couldnt be hacked. And a few
which cannot...not many though.

Sergey I MUST use debugger - I'm writing VxD!!! But I am not hacker I don't
Sergey have enough time to crack this stupid checking.
t why donot you post this on alt.cracks
t you may find some interesting conversation about the subject once you
t ask...
Sergey I don't have time to discuss these things.
But thats the place where you might find the answer of how to run your
debugger... Unless you ask those who know directly..
MOST of the main hacking groups do read the items there, even if 99%
of the posts are rubbish and silly requests.
I cannot imagine the RITLABS to tell you how to do it...
You can post it in Russian as well as several of the main groups can
read that.

t Softice doesnt help as far as I know and I have seen at one time that

Sergey You can use IDA to find EVERY system calls and S-ICE to find last call to
Sergey this stupid window "Please turn off your debugger". For the normal
Sergey hacker it's enough.
Not if they want to crack a program or generate a key, deactivating
softice protection is just the start.

Sergey If ritlabs guys are so smart, let they will turn off debugger checking. It
Sergey is protection from idiots.
But thats most of the users (sorry!), and a lot of the lazy crackers.
As you know,if it looks like hard work and not a few bytes to
change, many crackers give up...

Sergey I just ask why Ritlabs have decided to check debugger. May be they
Sergey think that debugger is only for cracking and hacking? It's nonsense. I
Sergey am writing system-level software. And I am using S-Ice as fast system
Sergey disassembler and help(I use second computer to debug software). Why
Sergey Ritlabs doesn't want to see me( and similar people ) as client(s)?
If you work for a company let your company ask them. Believe me, thats
your only chance for them 'as company' to respond.
But first thing they will probably ask is why you want to run your emails
while a debugger is running...
Unless its for checking interaction.. Anyway if thats what you are
doing, let me know if the Bat still leaks memory.. Something does and
its some silly combination of about 3 programs which causes it.
On my system anyway.

If you open your address book where hopefully you'll have some
addresses entered by now, you'll see a column marked 'favourite' with
a little box for each message. If you tick any address as favorite by
clicking in the little box, it will show up in a drop down menu when
you click on that little arrow beside the 'create a new message'
button.

Hope that helps. :)

Hello Sergey,

Sergey If anybody find 100% method to protect software he will be the
Sergey richiest man in the world. AFAIK there is no 100% method.

I didnt say protect, I said cracked.
One of those I know which has a pgp related protection, hasnt been
cracked sofar, but they still get serials by fake creditcards and
found serials.

Why

t If you work for a company let your company ask them. Believe me, thats
t your only chance for them 'as company' to respond.
t But first thing they will probably ask is why you want to run your emails
t while a debugger is running...
Sergey You propose to reboot system just to get e-mail? S-Ice is sitting in
Sergey memory constantly. WinDEb too.

Run your email not from the development system.. or use a different
emailer for a while. You say the bat is very buggy and
that doesnt make it the best program to coexist with your hopefully
better working code You will end up debugging your email program
bugs
I prefer a nice clean system when writing software so I know whats
where.

t Unless its for checking interaction.. Anyway if thats what you are
t doing, let me know if the Bat still leaks memory.. Something does and

Sergey Good app, but very buggish.

Report the bugs (g)
Thanks, that may explain some of my problems. I thought it leaked...
Latest AVP though is a real clanger, its DOS resident driver prevents
me running any dos based program under 98, kills my system with a
reboot...

Best regards,

I think I have misunderstood something. If you add the text (no need
to have it on separate line) %SUBJ="Bla-bla-bla" to new message
template, then, when you will create new message, everything inside
quotes will be placed to the Subject line, and in the text of the
message there will be no sign of this macro, except if you will place
it on separate line there will be an empty line at that place in the
message text.
