Re: [Therion] Therion color by scrap or map

2017-09-13 Thread Martin Sluka via Therion
Bruce, it was my statement before too. But there was an example of cave where
passages are overlapping in way as strands in rope a time ago. In this case to
visualize this one must define color of scraps manually. In normal situation
you are right.

And it is very difficult to imagine how to define such visualization in layout
for me.

I have no any problem to define more different maps and use them for particular
exports.

Re: [Therion] Therion color by scrap or map

2017-09-13 Thread Bruce Mutton via Therion
At the time Stacho removed it I wondered. I can see it both ways.
However I think Stacho is right.

For almost everything to do with the appearance of 2d outputs, I put statements
in one or more layouts.

Therion philosophy. Define once, use many times? Personally I dislike
defining many specialist maps that are almost identical. I'd rather define one
then have many layouts if I want many different output appearances.

If the colour of maps [not scraps] is defined in the map definition (source),
then would a layout map-fg statement override it or not?
(Colour definition at scrap level as Martin described below seems a bit tedious
and unnecessary perhaps).

If the colour of maps is defined in the map definition, what about when I
define multiple layouts to produce outputs that colour differently?

I think both generic and specific colouring of maps should be defined in
layouts. It avoids questions of which takes precedence (source or layout) and
is consistent with Therion behaviour so far.
Or not?

Bruce

General colorization in layout should simply ignore local scrap colorization.

I implemented this a while back and my patch got applied, but Stacho
later disabled the feature - from the commit message it seems he thought
the colours should be defined in a different place to where I'd hooked
them up.

If you're happy to apply patches and rebuild the source, the two commits
you need to undo to make my patch work again are listed here:
