Re: [tw] Re: Generating HTML attribute strings from wikitext?
Hey Richard -- A solution through a mechanism like that is possible, but is both roundabout (filters are made for producing lists of different items, not formatting data for output) and extremely limited (I don't know of any way to make a filter that interleaves fields from a list of tiddlers -- in my case, dates of birth and death). Generally my feeling is that aggressively extending filter syntax is a poor stand-in for wikitext capabilities here. Plaintext rendering is already possible for stylesheets http://tiddlywiki.com/#Using%20Stylesheets through an exceptional mechanism in the renderer... A functional solution could be as simple as a JS macro that calls into the rendering engine: wiki-render text/plain -- but since that might (??) threaten the integrity of the widget tree's refresh logic if used as a widget attribute, it probably makes more sense to just facilitate typed transclusion in HTML syntax... For what it's worth, I managed to hack my way around my immediate problem by using fat SVG lines instead of SVG paths. (See result) https://twitter.com/EvanBalster/status/604815857731039232 However, my question stands as this solution required some compromises and it's likely I'll want to do path generation in the future. Regards, Evan On Sun, May 31, 2015 at 2:36 AM, Richard Smith richardwilliamsmit...@gmail.com wrote: Hi Evan, I understand now - you want to be able to compose the svg 'path' using a filter and so wish to transclude the output of the filter into an attribute. After some playing just now, I would concur that this doesn't seem possible on the face of things. Jed or someone else who has the serious filter-fu may know of newer solutions, but I think (may be wrong) this limitation is what caused Matabele to write the $makelist widget which sets the value of a field according to a filter output - you can then refer to *this* value by transclusion. You should be able to find Matabele's widget by searching the forum - I'm not sure if it is up to date etc. Regards, Richard -- You received this message because you are subscribed to a topic in the Google Groups TiddlyWiki group. [tw] [TWC]ArchivePlugin feature request!
Dear TWears, Recently, I am using ArchivePlugin to reduce my TW's size. For long tiddler, I always tag them with [*Archive*] tag. This plugin will help me store these tiddlers in the folder call *archive* (each tiddler each HTML file). So here is my trouble. When I edit title of these tiddlers, new HTML files will be generated but *the old ones still exist*. So, I could not regconize which HTML files is my using ones as I look into folder *archive*. My temporary solutin is to use TiddlerTweakerPlugin to find all tiddlers tagged with *archive* tag and update them. Then, I can delete all HTML files with modified date older than current date... Is there any better method? -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups TiddlyWiki group. [tw] Re: @Danielo - TiddlyDrive, pouchdb...
Danielo, thank you for your replies! First, just a note: I appreciate your encouragement to use your these things but they are way to advanced for me. I'm basically so far trying to understand what they *are *and *do*. Now, if it would help *you *to have a guinea pig that e.g reports what obstacles a noob hits during installation or use etc, then I'd be glad to help you, but it would not make sense for me to try to set this up for actual personal use because I would depend on others even for the slightest of problems. So, do I understand there are three main components to this: - the TW (hosted anywhere) - the database - as hosted by Cloudant. Why, BTW, do you propose a couchdb service rather than a pouchdb service - or maybe there are no pouchdb services? - an adaptor - that translates a TW file into the database file format... or is it perhaps that it translates tiddlers so they can be stored in the database... meaning then that we're really talking TW on node.js? - And it is the adaptor thing that you're working on, yes? (I think my knowledge-level should be obvious by now.) As you know, I have been working on the couchdb repo and it is easier than before to use it, anyway, if you need help setting up you own couch service, let me know if I can help you. Again, sorry for my basic questions, but what does repo (-sitory) mean in this context? Thanks Danielo. :-) -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups TiddlyWiki group. Also the newly created tiddler is named with the creating tiddler's title with -chat added as a suffix. I had expected that if more than one tiddler is created from the same tiddler, that it would add an incremental # at the end to create a unique tiddler, but it does not. Re: [tw] Re: Generating HTML attribute strings from wikitext?
Hi Evan, I understand now - you want to be able to compose the svg 'path' using a filter and so wish to transclude the output of the filter into an attribute. Regards, Richard -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups TiddlyWiki group. [tw] [TW5] How to navigate to list of tiddlers defined by a filter?
Dear all, I'm having some trouble (again!) with macro parameters. What I would like to do is to create a macro that displays a button that opens several tiddlers at once, defined by a filter. It works as expected when the filter is defined in the macro, so \define openTiddlersTest() $button $list filter=Test1 Test2 $action-navigate $to=/ /$list Open tiddlers /$button \end opens the tiddlers Test1 and Test2 as expected. However, when the filter is parameterized as follows: \define openTiddlers(tf) $button $list filter=$tf$ $action-navigate $to=/ /$list Open tiddlers /$button \end openTiddlers Test1 Test2 only Test1 is opened. Variations such as openTiddlers Test1 Test2 and openTiddlers Test1 Test2 don't work either. I tried to add parentheses around the parameter: \define openTiddlers(tf) $button $list filter=$(tf)$ $action-navigate $to=/ /$list Open tiddlers /$button \end which strangely enough opens the tiddler true. (Why would $(tf)$ evaluate to true?) Even worse, when I try to use instead angle brackets: \define openTiddlers(tf) $button $list filter=tf $action-navigate $to=/ /$list Open tiddlers /$button \end seemingly every single tiddler in the Wiki is opened, and eventually it crashes completely. Could anyone give me a hint as to what I'm doing wrong? I would also greatly appreciate an explanation of what is going on here, since I evidently don't grasp the WikiText semantics yet. [tw] [TW5] action-sendmessage create a tiddler with tag from tiddler title
I am an experienced user of the classic TW. I have many plugins and tweaks for it, all blinged out. So I know how to do a lot with that. Not so much with TW5 but I'm just getting more familiar with it or at least, trying to. One of the great things about the classic TW is the forEachTiddler plugin so you can dynamically create content. TW5 has the list widget as an equivalent, although I don't know how to get the list widget to create a table, like I can with the forEachTiddler, but that is for another day. What I'm trying to do now is create a tiddler with a button that generates a tiddler and tag the newly generated tiddler with the title of the tiddler that generated it, which is no problem, except that I also want to tag it with an additional tag as well. I have not found a way to concatenate currentTiddler with a constant string for the tag. The code for the button I'm using is: $button $action-sendmessage $message=tm-new-tiddler $param=ChatsTemplate tags=currentTiddler title=tiddler.title/ New Chat /$button Where I have currentTiddler I also want another tag, but don't know how to add the additional tag without it breaking. As it is now, it works similarly to how the New Here built in widget works. Thanks. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups TiddlyWiki group. Re: [tw] [TW5] How to navigate to list of tiddlers defined by a filter?
Hi Linus opens the tiddlers Test1 and Test2 as expected. However, when the filter is parameterized as follows: \define openTiddlers(tf) $button $list filter=$tf$ $action-navigate $to=/ /$list Open tiddlers /$button \end The $param$ and $(var)$ syntax results in a textual substitution that is performed on the macro contents before it is parsed. The problem here is that the textual substitution occurs literally, so if you pass a value that contains spaces you'll get something like this: $list filter=one two three So, the solution is to include quotes: $list filter=$tf$ By using triple double quotes we ensure that filters that contain single or double double quotes will work correctly. Best wishes Jeremy. openTiddlers Test1 Test2 only Test1 is opened. Variations such as openTiddlers Test1 Test2 and openTiddlers Test1 Test2 don't work either. Where I could figure out how to move node.js to my tablet. That time is long past. Those skills have been taken from me. Which brings me to this request. I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2 tablet running Android v4.4. Could someone help me move TiddlyWiki along with node.js to my tablet? Are there a set on instructions that I may be able to follow? Thanks in advance for your help. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups TiddlyWiki group. Re: [tw] [TW5] How to navigate to list of tiddlers defined by a filter?
Ah, that explains it! It works as expected now. Many thanks! I read about those triple quotes in Macro Calls in WikiText, but I didn't realise that formal parameters (is that the correct term for the $parameter$ construct?) in the macro definition could be enclosed as well, not just parameter values (arguments?) on the calling side. Perhaps adding an example of is to Macro Definitions in WikiText would be helpful? Best regards, Linus On sön, maj 31, 2015 at 2:48 em, tiddlywiki@googlegroups.com tiddlywiki@googlegroups.com wrote: Hi Linus opens the tiddlers Test1 and Test2 as expected.
