Hmm, I think I found an answer to this. I'll check the TiddlyWikiDev group
to see if there's another way to get the Grid option working...

Re: [tw] Re: Edit-text widget alternative?

2015-11-04 Thread Felix Küppers
Mat, you really improved the hell out of your side editor. In the very
beginning I was not completely convinced, but it is really a great thing
to work with. I have always longed for a solution where you can scroll
the river while keeping one tiddler open for constant access. Plus your
solution allows us to switch the sidebar tabs – I originally thought it
would be better to open a dedicated tab in the sidebar for the
sideeditor but this would prevent me from opening other tabs and having
the side editor open at the same time. Plus where is the JavaScript? No
JavaScript involved – amazing,

Some suggestions/questions/problems.

  * Is there a GitHub repo for this plugin?
  * When I toggle the editor for a tiddler (e.g. "About") then scroll to
"Issues" in the river, then I cannot directly toggle issues so it
appears in the sidebar editor, but I need to untoggle the editor
first. Maybe you can optimize your plugin so all tiddlers that are
not toggled can be toggled directly to appear in the editor.
  * In chrome, vertically resizing the editor doesn't work :(

Thanks
-Felix

By the way, I saw that you prefix some of your concepts with
abbreviations at twaddle (e.g. "sw:"). I started doing the same a while
ago for my notes and found it very handy especially when performing a
search in the sidebar, all tiddlers of a category will be displayed next
to each other plus it allows quick filtering of search results by only
entering the prefix. So far, I was not aware of other users using this
technique…glad I am not alone ;)

The $select widget doesn't currently support the "multiple" property.

To make it capable of handling multiple values, there are two functions in
$:/core/modules/widgets/select.js that need to be extended:

* SelectWidget.prototype.handleChangeEvent() currently just assigns the DOM
element's .value attribute (the "current selection") to the target tiddler
field/index. To support multi-select, this function needs to iterate over
all the items in the DOM element's .options array and concatenate all the
selected items into a single space-separated, bracketed list that it can
then write into the target tiddler field/index.

* SelectWidget.prototype.setSelectValue() currently just takes the stored
value from the tiddler field/index, and sets it into the DOM element's
.value attribute. To support multi-select, this function needs to split a
space-separated, bracketed value stored in the tiddler field/index into
separate items that can then be individually selected in the DOM element.

Both of these enhancements would only be triggered when the "multiple"
attribute is used in the <$select> widget, so that the widget behavior
would be unchanged for all current uses, so this would be a 100%
backward-compatible improvement to the core functionality.

Sets is exactly what I want. I am just listing tiddler titles like tags do,
only in multiple fields. I want the interface to look like you are adding
tags, with a popup autocomplete. No more typos or copy pasting a search
result inside [[ ]]. Actually, that might be a really useful widget/macro
on it's own.

Great, creating a unique name is an advantage. Dates are a good idea too,
hadn't thought of that.

I've actually got a backwards compatible fix for this (using a new keyword
"multiple" to enable the new behavior) that I can publish here in a bit.
I'm working on cleaning up the code now, but I can throw a gist up.
 https://gist.github.com/mklauber/4011a7ea95b158bfcfbf I actually don't
think I need your listops functionality, because for my purposes, the
select widget is the system of record, and I can just set the field text to
the selected values in the field.

[tw] Looking for way to generate a table with tiddlers sorted according to respective sets of tags

2015-11-04 Thread steve
Hello

I would like to use a list filter to generate a table with two columns:
* the first column is the name of the tiddlers that match the search
criteria;
* the second column is the list of tag pills for each tiddler in the first
column;
* the tag pills in the second column are listed in alphabetical order
* the tiddlers in the first column are sorted in order of their list of tag
pills

For example

| TiddlerOne |TagA |
| TiddlerTwo |TagA, TabB
| TiddlerTwoB |TagA, TabB |
| TiddlerThree |TagA, TagB, TagC |
| TiddlerFour |TagB, TagD |
| TIddlerFIve |TagD |

The following almost works. By almost I mean that the tags for each tiddler
are listed in alphabetical order, the tiddlers are mostly listed in order
of
their respective list of tags and that all the tiddlers with a
tag=reference are
listed.

<$list filter="[!is[system]tag[reference]sort[tags]]">

<$link to={{!!title}}><$view field="title"/>
<$list filter="[all[current]tags[]sort[title]]"
template="$:/core/ui/TagTemplate" storyview="pop"/>

I vaguely recall that it was possible to do this in TWC. Any ideas on how
to do this in TW5.

Thanks
Steve W

Every time I have gotten an error like that it is because the file isn't

The only discussion about changes to the widgets I have seen is about
letting them trigger action widgets so you may be in new territory. This is
related to the various list manipulation experiments going on. Mine is here
 and the work

[tw] Ressources for plugin development?

2015-11-04 Thread enno . weichert
Hi, I'm looking to develop a plugin but it's difficult to find
documentation for this.

So far I have found

  -
https://github.com/Jermolene/TiddlyWiki5/blob/master/editions/dev/tiddlers/from%20tw5.com/Developing%20plugins%20using%20Node.js%20and%20GitHub.tid

and mostly the code.

As for an actual question:

'Developing plugins using Node.js and GitHub' says that you should put
plugins in './plugins/vendor/name' and the actual tiddlywiki repo indicates
this.
But the way I read the code
(https://github.com/Jermolene/TiddlyWiki5/blob/v5.1.9/boot/boot.js#L1656)
it doesn't look for sub-directories and looks for 'plugin.info' in
'./plugins/vendor'.
At the least that's what's happening when I get this error: 'Error: ENOENT,
no such file or directory
'/home/enno/dev/tiddlywiki-matth/plugins/ennoweichert/plugin.info''

I feel this information is so basic, it should be much more accessible. It
doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me to pester you with these questions
(and pester myself with the waiting time).

[tw] Re: TW5 - List of tiddlers with field check box

2015-11-04 Thread RickL

I am using your cycle tags macro in a Task List TW5 to track projects and
tasks. I really like how it allows me to change priority on the fly for
tasks!

I have a master list of tasks, some tied to projects and some not.

Also, for each project, I have a list of tasks for said project.

The cycle tags macro works fine in the master list of tasks, but I noticed
when I try to have the same function in the project list of tasks the macro
will not perform properly. Is there an issue with using the same macro in
two different tiddlers?

I have set up an example at - cycletagsexample.tiddlyspot.com - if you
have a chance to taike a look.

Thanks

Rick

[tw] Bootstrap3 in Tiddlywiki?

2015-11-04 Thread Joshua Fontany
Hi guys,

I'm investigating the features of this awesome JSON Editor
plugin: https://github.com/btheado/jsoneditor

One of the neat features (arrange inputs in a grid view) would work well
for my RPG Character Database project, to clean up the Character Editor UI.

So far, the author has tried to just copy the CSS out of boostrap and put
it in a tiddly, but that did horribly non-euclidean things,
apparently:
https://github.com/btheado/jsoneditor/issues/1#issuecomment-153214059

I noted that the Boostrap3 package has a *.js component, and that would
need to be integrated into TW5. Would this be similar to the FontAwesome
stuff? (Still have learning that on my to-do list.)

Best,
Joshua F

The $action-listops widget is all new and aimed at manipulating a list in
any field or data index, using a subfilter expression The $x-mangletags
widget was an evolution from my old $mangletags widget, which was designed
to do a search/replace on the tags field.

For field manipulation I've also seen
> http://ooktech.com/jed/ExampleWikis/ListManipulation/ . I'll try these

I first tried an approach similar to this, using an increasing number of
widget attributes to manipulate the string (an evolution from the
$x-mangletags widget.) This proved difficult as it seemed impossible to
guess all of the uses to which lists might be put, and write attributes to
cover all of the necessary operations. I then tried the technique adopted
in the $action-listops widget -- applying a subfilter expression to the
string.

The advantage is that the widget is simple and never needs to change --
subfilter expressions can be built using any combination of filter
operators to achieve the desired result. In the event that an operation is
missing, a new filter operator may be written. If you need a new filter
operator, please let me know and I'll andeavour to write one.

The only advantage of Jed's list $action-editlist is in the case that your
application requires multiple instances of a single item (this was one of
the design considerations for his widget.) Although none of my filters
enforce single instances of items, several of the core filter operators do
so (including the +[] and -[] operators -- in practice, therefore, my
widget manipulates sets.)

>

The $x-maketid widget will create a unique name using an appended integer
-- repeated clicks of the button will, therefore, create a number of
tiddlers with different names. A date/time may also be appended to the
title -- this tends to generate a unique name without the need for
appending an integer (if two are created in quick succession, an integer
will be appended to the second title.)

The $x-maketid widget can create tiddlers in the background, or navigate to
the new tiddler without opening for editing, or will navigate to and open
the tiddler for editing -- whatever you require.

It’s probably too late, but the most useful thing would be if you could zip up
a copy of the configuration folder that you deleted!

My hypothesis is that TiddlyDesktop did at some point start correctly, but that
something happened to corrupt the configuration data - conceivably, the app
crashing might leave the config folder in an unstable state.

[tw] [TW5] Getting macros to work at all

2015-11-04 Thread Bob Wentworth
I am presumably missing something really basic, because I can't seem to get
the core macros to work at all.

Here is text I tried as the body of a tiddler:

Version is <>.

Date is <>.
Date is <>.

Here is a list:
<>

Here is a timeline:
<>

Here is the result for alltags:
<>

More attempts at lists:
<>
<>

This results in the following being displayed:

Version is 5.1.9.

Date is . Date is .

Here is a list:

Here is a timeline:

Here is the result for alltags:

More attempts at lists:

The only macro that displays anything is the <> macro. (I'm using
Firefox 41.0.2 on a Mac. I've been using basic TiddlyWiki functionality for
quite some time, with no problems.)

Could someone give me a clue how to get any of the other macros to display
something? What am I doing wrong / misunderstanding?

Thanks.

Hi Enno,
are you able to build any of the tiddlywiki standard plugins?

[tw] $select widget with multiple selections

2015-11-04 Thread Matthew Lauber
I'd like to have a select widget that uses the multiple property of the
base html select widget, and when selected, updates a list field with all
the selected values. Is this something someone has seen/done before, or am
I in new territory?

Thanks,
Matt

The macro name is not "today" but "now".

"systemConfig" tag no longer exists in TW5.
In tW5 "list" is a widget, not a macro. So you could use either
<$list filter="[is[system]sort[modified]limit[5]]"/>
or
<>
(if you want the reverse order for the modifier field, use
"!sort[modifier]" instead)

This one still exists, but the parameters are not the same.

Here you have to use a list widget, there is no macro for it.
<$list filter="[is[tag]]" template="$:/core/ui/TagTemplate"/>

See before: list is not a macro but a widget, the macro is list-links

TW5 syntax is not the same as TWClassic.
