[tw] Re: TW5 as a better option than ePub.

2016-03-08 Thread John Newell
Hi Mark.
In response to "*Does zooming of TW on Safari on i-devices work
appropriately*?"

A definitive YES.
I have uploaded a brief test version of the the TW5 version of Spiritual
Quest to the cloud
find the *Tiddlywiki HTML file* here :

https://padlet-uploads.storage.googleapis.com/32228399/e1d58c96f4c59316913ced53cddce460db9891f5/fe1ac6529f26949ac6be33ee187fe8c0.html

   - open it on iphone USING Safari and see it live .

   - More importantly - while open - BOOKMARK IT - the switch iphone
SETTINGS to Airplane Mode ( it saves the file automatically to your phone
   now )

   - and while still offline - close the tab - then open the Bookmark you
   just created = perfect rendition

and it saves everything as it's just the ONE HTML that was downloaded
so, as long as images are imported and save as tiddlers, its all there. -
neat and clean

example screen grabs

   -

https://padlet-uploads.storage.googleapis.com/32228399/aac1871a48cebaf77c4f962481dfdce333f8bd9b/69525ccd4d0bbcb5ccc8fd79d4ce6b5d.jpg

( will obviously appear oversized on desk/lap -top but perfect on iphone (
BETTER ) than my PressBook ePub version
 Major differences :

   - Scroll down each page / chapter / tiddler - rather than thumb or tap
   sideways through pages

   - Which has the advantage of faster back-tracking within same chapter
  - But requires END OF TIDDLEr ( CLOSE TIDDLER button to be handy
THERE rather than scrolling back to the top )
  - Feels more concise as this format of one chapter to one (long) page
means 50 pages rather than 1100 ! ( in full edition of ebook )
  - THERE IS FAR LESS scrolling ( due to fewer page turns ) and FEELS
  more cohesive

  - In TW5. Navigation has to be changed - I am adding a TOC tiddler +
top and bottom tab type links
   - There is NO bookmarking tab as in ePUBs top right of page

There's more but you get the gist of it in the links provided

I'll be open - I do need help as I am under the pump and what I can offer
to you or anyone else who can help me get the" simple-for-you-guys but
tough-for-me" edits done - attribution in the eBook if you like - and
contribution to the TW fund.

Unsure what the protocol in this group is for sharing info - so i can be
found on twitter @magillamax

cheers
John

[tw] Re: [TW5] Chrome solution and batch file request.

2016-03-08 Thread CL
Well, I couldn't make or find batch file but interestingly, I have found
AutoHotKey code that works for me.
I was going to make like to the original page that I found the code. I
could find similar codes like this

and this
,

I just couldn't find the exact page. So, I am just posting the code. This
code was the simplest version I could find, and the code looks fairly
straightforward.

*loop, C:\Users\Username\Directory\*.html{ if (A_LoopFileTimeModified >
modtime)  {modtime := A_LoopFileTimeModifiedfile :=
A_LoopFileFullPath }}run, %file%*

Basically, this code look for newest modified file in the folder declared
in that first line.
In summary, you could use downloads router to sort into folders for each
wiki files then, use this AutoHotkey script to lauch the newest file

I am basically really only interested in having a world-readable tiddlywiki
that only I can edit, which doesn't involve GitHub Pages and the fat HTML
file.

Could we conclude a path for enabling this scenario?

[tw] Re: Presenting: QuickTid

2016-03-08 Thread Mat
Thanks for input Dave!

Ok, I updated the tickmarks so the silent one is within parentheses. I was
considering using a + instead of tick but I reasoned it really is more
similar in behaviour to the save tickmark you use in regular edit mode than
to what the + button normally does. I might reconsider because just maybe
the tickmarks in the QT can be confused with the tickmark on a (possible)
tiddler that the QT might overlap. Will think about it.

I also corrected the Installation instrux as per your suggestion, thanks.

Regarding:

I do find that trying to slide the cursor all the way over to the

Did you try to pin the QT itself? That "main pin" thus has a different
meaning than the "field pins".

Re: [tw] modifying importtiddler to not change modification date

2016-03-08 Thread harsha
Sorry about the late reply.

Also, I should have been more clear that this behaviour occurs in fresh
nodejs version of TW5 and not in the regular import between versions.
Importing between two regular files preserves the dates.

The behaviour of changing dates to imported date appears in nodejs (fresh
install and importing from a regular tiddlywiki file).

The correct dates show up when importing. But after restarting the server,
all the imported tiddlers show up in the current date in the 'recent'
timeline. I wasn't sure if this was the intended behaviour.

The load from file command line option works correctly, the dates are
preserved.

So, there isn't any problem getting the right dates even in the nodejs
version, as long as the command line is used and not the import option from
the sidebar.

Thanks for the response.

Okay only one more comment...I need to get back to work...

The vague instruction "You need all tiddlers tagged QTComponent" should
read "Import all the tiddlers tagged QTComponent to your TiddlyWiki" so
that it is not interpreted as "You will need to tag all your tiddlers with
the tag QTComponent before this will work."

BTW I really like pinning the tag section to quickly generate a bunch of
tiddlers of the same category, or tiddlers to be used in a list filter.
Nice touch!

I do find that trying to slide the cursor all the way over to the
checkmarks at the right sometimes makes the whole popup disappear, which
then necessitates hovering to the left again. This is because the popup is
so close to the browser menu bar. Very easy to accidentally move too far
north of the popup and lose it.

Very interesting!

One small idea to consider: instead of two identical checkmarks, which
force you to remember which is which, what about a + for create and
navigate, and (+) for silent creation? The plus symbol is already
recognized for creating tiddlers, and a plus in parentheses would symbolize
creation but quietly.

2016-03-08 Thread Mat
Happy to give you a tool I've been fantasizing about for years, not least
for "live" note taking situations like lectures.

QuickTid (QT) lets you create individual
tiddlers very fast. Features include

   - direct edit template access
   - "pin" content to reuse it
   - pre-made, selectable, content
   - silent creation of tiddler

It is in beta stage (not plugin-packaged) and tweaks are still needed.

QT is a total remake of FastNewTiddler
(by Jed Carty and me) that caused a
little stir about a year ago.

Feedback is very welcome.

[tw] Re: Generating a pdf preview of a (large) table defined in a Tiddler

2016-03-08 Thread Jed Carty
It is almost certainly possible. Making a plugin that lets you create pdfs
in tiddlywiki has been on my to-do list for a long time now for the resume
edition but I doubt I will get to it any time soon. The jsPdf library was
the most appropriate library I had looked at but I haven't had a chance to
try integrating it with tiddlywiki yet.

All I can say without looking at the library more is that a making a plugin
is probably the best approach. Aside from that it depends on the library
you use.

[tw] Re: Filter tiddlers by date: today and in the past

2016-03-08 Thread CL
Thank you for sharing your TW-dating code!
I am end-user who does not really know how to code. My hotfix was best I
could do :)
Those new filters look promsing. However I coudn't figure out how to use
your filter. I want to ask,

   - Does this filter take suffix for name of date field like days operator
   ?
   - Does this filter take integer as parameter?
   - Is there any other documentation for instruction?

I would be super nice if you could make that into tiddler and attach as
.tid file or
you could put it in wiki file and attach wiki file here so people can
simply drag and drop the tiddlers

[tw] Re: Filter tiddlers by date: today and in the past

2016-03-08 Thread Julian Kniephoff
Yeah, it's definitely related and it at least shows me that I am not just
using days wrong. Your hotfix has the problem, as you yourself noted in the
other thread, that it breaks other use cases of the operator, so I just
went ahead and wrote my own filters for the use cases "everything with a
certain date field set to today and in the past/future". You can find them
here if you are interested.
(Disclaimer: It is work in progress and I am by no means an expert in
TiddlyWiki plugin authoring.)

[tw] [TW5] Chrome solution and batch file request.

2016-03-08 Thread CL
I was thinking of Google Chrome saving solution and came up with idea.
Thanks to Eric Shulman that now I can save wiki files to each location
using downloads routers

Example,

   - Whenever I save index.html, it goes to /download/index folder
   - Whenever I save empty.html, it goes to /download/empty folder

Now, all I need is single batch file that looks for latest created or
modified file in that same folder level.

I wish I could code this, but unfortunately I am not a programmer.

Could anyone help me on this?

Best wishes,

CL

[tw] Re: New plugin : link completion in body

2016-03-08 Thread CL
Hi Alian. Thanks for sharing awesome plugin! I really like the plugin.

This is not a huge problem but just letting you know that It doesn't work
when I use Windows 10 default virtual touch keyboard.
It happens for all browsers in Windows 10.

[tw] Generating a pdf preview of a (large) table defined in a Tiddler

2016-03-08 Thread Ghislain SILLAUME
Dear all,

I have a large table that I would like to print in A3 with clean page
breaks (repeating the headers).

Since it's possible to integrate pdf in TW5
, I'm wondering if it will be
possible to use a pdf javascript library (I'm considering jsPdf
 and the plugin jsPdf-Autotable
) for generating the pdf.

Do you think it's possible? Using a macro or a plugin? What would be the
best approach?

Thank you very much for your help.

Ghislain
